Need Help with MS Word Issues on Headers & Footers
Subject: Need Help with MS Word Issues on Headers & Footers

Hello troops!

Problem with header/footer. I have created a MS Word template that has both a header and a footer that should appear on page 1 only. My problem is that when I have to go on to page 2, I have to manually delete both the Page 2 header and footer. Any help?

When I was learning how to do the headers and footers, it said that to have the header and footer appear only on page 1, you should - when going onto to a second page, do a section break when starting page 2; then you can use the header/footer menu feature "link to previouis" (or rather, you actually want to "unlink" the page 2 header from the page 2 header (and likewise for the footer). But when I do this, I still have to go into the header (and then the footer), highlight the text, and delete it.  I'm trying to figure it out so I can just type the document and not have to worry about deleting the page 2 header, etc.

Thanks much.

Dave

Help! Tendant or tendon? sm
Subject: Help! Tendant or tendon? sm

Here are a couple of sentences (from op report on basal joint arthritis) where it really s/l he is saying "tendent" rather than tendon.  ???  Anyone have ideas for me?  The whole sentence really doesn't make much sense to me.

Using the tendent passer it was placed into the distal incision on top of the FCR tendent and then was used to grab the proximal aspect of the tendent and half of the FCR was then harvested this way.

All through this section of the report he is saying "tendent" and normally when he says 'tendon' it does sound like tendon.

Since when is tendon spelled tendin? sm
Subject: Since when is tendon spelled tendin? sm

Is it just me that this bugs?  I'm probably being too uptight about this but over the past several years, I've seen the word tendonitis being changed to tendinitis.  Take off the "itis" and you've got "tendin".  Makes no sense to me.

Does anyone know if there is an acceptable/standard way of spelling this?  At least where I worked back in the 90s, the preferred spelling was tendonitis.  It's an inflammation of the tendon.

Thoughts?

Thanks!
