Subject: PIC line versus PICC line....

Just wondering what the difference is and which one to use when doc says PIC line.

PIC - Peripheral Intravenous Catheter

PICC - Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter

TIA.

hourly pay versus pay by line
Subject: hourly pay versus pay by line

I currently do transcription onsite for a hospital that pays by the hour.  I really would like to work at home for more flexibility and I've noticed a lot of transcription openings pay by the line.  I'm worried that won't make enough money being paid by the line.  Is it better to be paid by the line versus by the hour?  Is there anyone who made a transition from hourly to line pay?

Simone - would you please contact me? I presently am paid by the line and I don't make enough money to work this job any more. It is pathetic! I am interested in switching to another company so if anyone has any suggestions, please let me know!!

Picc versus PIC, sm
Subject: Picc versus PIC, sm

Actually they are two different things, according to my sources.  The PICC (peripherally inserted central catheter) is inserted to the vena cava, thus it is "central."  The PIC (peripherally inserted catheter) is inserted locally, not to the vena cava.  I actually had one of these, it was in my AC space.  PICC is the term that is used unless they specify local.  If anyone has any other info I would be interested to hear it.  Thanks.

Title of procedure:  A 24-hour pH probe study.

Then we pulled the probe 2 inches above the level between the acidic and non-acidic line and then we taped it and anchored it and the baby started the breast-feeding right away after the probe placement.

Since it was changed ___, no further fevers. She has been told that she could not get further PIC lines on the right arm.

This blank sounds like it has something about "wire" in it, may even be more than one word, "over to wire".  Both blanks sound the same.

I have always worked for salary and now am doing contract work from home. How much should I expect to be able to charge per line for transcription services? I'm in the New York City area. What's an average charge per line the hospitals are paying transcription services to do their work?  Any ideas?
