I love my HPI Radiology Imaging Words and Phrases. IMO it's better than Stedman's.

It is the sentence structure that is confusing. Three individual views, but once the word views gets put into the sentence it becomes plural and without the word views it is regarded as singular. I don't necessarily agree, but I believe this is why the QA department and your manager keep changing your grammar.

There is also a PA view (my understanding is just a different way of standing when taking the x-ray vs an AP view). The way you are typing them is correct.

Unfortunately I cannot find a "rule" on this either, but if you change "bilateral" to "both" or "right and left" it does not change the meaning of the sentence but you would use the plural, tibias.

In the same way in your example, I believe it should be "examination of the hips, knees and ankles is normal bilaterally." (Consider if "bilateral" was before the word hips instead.)

Again, just my opinion -- tough question! Especially in a sentence fragment such as a diagnosis...
