My opinion: In bunionectomy there is an apical access guide, so I guess why not a guidewire?

really carefully to discern between Glidewire and guidewire, as these docs don't always speak clearly, and there are different types of guidewires besides the Glidewire...boy talk about a play of words. LOL

Yes, the KVO allows easy access

warranted.  In my experience, the KVO rate was used during a transesophageal echocardiogram wherein if the patient needed a bolus of a med, then the line was there to give it.  Saline was given at a KVO rate, but I think it also (slow drip) allowed hydration for the patient while undergoing the procedure.  I believe these drips given at KVO rate can be started a lot of times in the ER to allow venous access.

Guidewire or glidewire?
Subject: Guidewire or glidewire?

Doctor is putting in a ureteral stent. Sometimes it sounds like he's saying guidewire, but then other times it sounds like glidewire. Most things I've found on google say guidewire. Could he be dictating both? Which one is usually used in this type of procedure? Thanks.
