If it is not associated with cancer then it is more than likely arabic. You can always look it up and tell which is which, which is BOS2 suggests.

I think I used to think most stages were roman numerals and most grades were arabic but there are way too many exceptions so I try to figure out which one it is for each specific instance and then write it on my growing list.  BOS says types are arabic, roman numerals, or capital letters depending on type referred to. I WISH there was a website with all of the different stages, grades, types, etc. listed.  Does anyone know of such a thing??

Use arabic numerals for all numbers.
Subject: Use arabic numerals for all numbers.

The current standard in transcription is to use arabic numerals (1, 2, 3...)for all numbers, even under the number 10, because they stand out on the page and are less likely to be overlooked or misinterpreted.

Subject: hypertension stages

Hi,

Anyone know if stages of hypertension are now to be noted with Arabic numerals?  I have always been taught that they are to be in Roman numeral form.  If you have the answer to this, please send me the reference as well, as I haven't been able to find this in any of my medical term books/references.  Even my Stedman's Cardiology book doesn't have information on this as far as I've been able to find.  Thanks so much for any help!

Hi,

Thanks, but I need an actual medical reference, not a website of a group of doctors.  I'm trying to find the official answer.  I appreciate your time, though!
