Serving Over 20,000 US Medical Transcriptionists

Actually . . .

I received on-the-job training beginning as a temp for a student mental health service--i.e., psychiatry, more narrative than highly medically technical--then progressed to an agency doing exclusively (more medical but repetitious) ER work, then, with six years experience, learned just about every other field with other agencies--and it's now been 20 years.

In other words, I've never received any formal training and never seriously had trouble getting work after those first two positions.

And from what I can see, fair or not, a lot of agencies seem less impressed with educational credentials than they are with experience, even if it's not in a lot of specialties.

Good luck to you and your friend,

CTT
