There are still a lot of us around who did it back in those days, it wasn't really particularly any big deal.  MTs were all prima donnas.  You were expected to know your job and you were expected to do it and do it well.  If you didn't you didn't have a job, plain and simple. There was no hand holding and no big suits.  There was 1 boss and maybe an assistant depending on the size of the company, but all companies by today's standards were very small, maybe 30-40 MTs.  TAT was reasonable, I think it was 24 hours for H&Ps and Consults, ops and DS were 7 days or something thereabout.  MTs didn't work weekends unless they wanted to pick up some extra bucks.  There were lots of incentives and they were cents, not fractions of cents.  For years I don't think there was a week that went by that I didn't get calls trying to hire me away from my employer.  I wasn't special, this happened to all of us.  Gals we knew would move on to greener pastures and give out our phone numbers.  Not to mention that if we wanted a raise about all we had to do was ask.  Aaaah, some things were better in the good old days.  But if I keep talking I'm gonna get depressed so think I'll say goodnight and head off to beddy bye.
