Advanced is NOT ethical

Posted By: check this out on 2008-09-23
In Reply to: NEMT and Advanced in Oregon... - anotherMT

I worked for a friend who since the 1980s had her own company named Advanced Transcription Network. In the 1990s, I think it was Gordon Transcription, changed their name to Advanced Transcription. REALLY CHEESY of them to do. For the longest time the newly named company did substandard work and my friend who owned ATN got many calls from clients complaining. No, ATN had not copyrighted the name, but is is and was unethical of them to steal her name.
I would NEVER work for advanced.

Is she as ethical as Lee?

No for ethical and reputable
MT companies, it won't! When you uses something like autokeys or autocorrect, I really do not know how they are going to figure out what keys you actually hit to produce a word, phrase or sentence.
What would you do? Ethical question.
A small national is going to lose their biggest (pretty much only) account and many people I care about will lose their jobs.  I only know because of some very reliable inside information, a friend works for another service and they will be taking over the account.   It is bothering me and wondering would you take the risk and let everyone know so their paycheck doesn't suffer?
The ethical thing to do

In my opinion, I'd rather be started on the icky account, paid by the hour for a month until used to it (I've found most icky accounts get a little better once I get  used to them and do them exclusively) and then transitioned over to line counts.  I think that is ethical and fair.  It is true that hospital MTs will send out work that no one can understand.  I used to jump the girls I worked with at a hospital for sending out stuff they knew was barely passing for fluent English (or for that matter was not fluent English) and impossible to do without leaving blanks.  They didn't realize the difference in what is reasonable in a hospital is not tolerated in a contract MT.

Probably legal but not ethical. nm

Owner is very ethical, pay always on time. sm
what else do you need to know, I will try to help.

They are a small company in Maine.
Advanced
I worked for them for about a month.  Very nice people, easy setup, they use Word.  The pay periods are unusual in that you have to wait about a month to get your first check.  They are twice a month but run a month behind.  So do inquire about that.  Low ESL from what I saw.  They did not consider me to have enough experience.
Advanced
Run, run, run as fast as you can!! If it's the one where the owner is in New Jersey. I worked for her for three weeks and it turned out to be a nightmare!
Advanced
Pay was a bit low but regular. Platform had a lot of kinks but that improved. Management could be very disorganized, nasty and rude. I found better pay and nicer people elsewhere but maybe they have changed.
Advanced
I've worked there for 9 months and am very happy. The program is easy to learn, everyone is very professional, pay is on time or early. As long as the turnaround time is met, I've found them to be very flexible. They have a lot of work.
Advanced
The one in Oregon is very good to work for and flexible for IC status. Pay is good, by direct deposit, and on time. They use Iscriptor which works with MS Word.

I have no knowledge about the one in a different state. They are separate companies as far as I know.
Advanced in OR

I worked for them very briefly as a secondary.  They are nice people to work for and easy to get along with.  They seemed fair.  They just needed me to provide a schedule of sorts to them as to when I could help out, and I just couldn't give that to them at that point in time.

One of the platforms I used was Iscriptor which was cumbersome but doable.  I think they also use an IM to communicate and e-mail as well.  They paid on time direct deposit.

Nice people!  They also try to set you up with your specialty, which is a very nice touch.

With Iscriptor, you basically take so many jobs at a time, send them back, and then take more.  It was pool work for me, but things may have changed.

I would highly recommend Advanced.

Advanced Transcription
I thought their platform was really slow and I could never make any money switching back and forth through the system.  Frustrating!!  I would work several hours sometimes and make less than 10 or 12 bucks because of all the switching around, cutting and pasting, etc.  Good luck!
Advanced Transcription
I am currently testing for Advanced. Does anybody have any info on them? Thanks!

Can anyone give me any information on Advanced Transcripion in Portland, OR?

Advanced is great!

I have worked for this company for awhile.  It is true that the pay runs about 25 days behind, but once you get over that hump for the first pay period they pay consistently.  You can have your check direct deposited.  Pay is always on time.

I love working for Advanced!

Advanced Transciption
My friend and I both worked for them last year and the work was pleasant enough, but not enough of it, so had to find steady work. The owner kept telling us she would get new accounts but did not see it happening fast enough for my needs. Kept telling her I needed steady work. Don't know what they are like now. When she hired us, she said she had plenty, but turned out not to be the case.

Really appreciate the prompt and honest feedback. Thanks.

Is this company run by Joy Pickett? or somebody named Donna? If so, run. Since my experience with them of not being paid on time and having to threaten to go to BBB and everybody else I could think of to get my pay, this is the first time I have heard anything good. Everyone else who responded to me had the same horror story to tell. They are also known as Alliance or Allied transcription. That is why I asked who was running the show. They are sweet people but that doesn't pay the bills.
Advanced Transcription

I have subcontracted for Advanced Transcription out of Portland, Oregon for almost 3 yrs.  It's a great company.  We always have plenty of work.  They have direct deposit and pay on time or early.  The platform is easy to learn.  If you are looking for work, check them out.  You will not be disappointed.

Advanced Transcription
Pay was average but regular.  Management could be very rude, unprofessional and disorganized.  They would tell you one thing and then forget what they told you to do.  Platform had a lot of technical glitches.  I wouldn't recommend them. You could probably do better elsewhere.  I did!
Advanced Transcription
They might have gotten their act together. I wish you luck!
Anyone apply with Advanced and
I sent in my resume last week and have yet to hear anything back.  I had read that they are usually very quick to respond.  Has anyone been contacted by them yet or been hired?
Yes, Advanced is in Oregon.
I think it is 600 lines a day three days per week for part-time, but I am not sure about full-time.  IC position.  I think you do have to be on an instant messenger though.
Was it Advanced Transcription?

Was offered a position with Advanced Transcription out of Oregon yesterday.  Told them I would give them an answer tomorrow.  Any input on the company would be appreciated.  Thanks
Advanced Transcription
I started there this week. The only negative I can say is you work a month before getting paid. 1st thru 15th get paid the 6th of the following month; 15th thru 30th is paid 20 of the following month. Not sure I'm going to stay.
Advanced Transcription
Does anyone currently work for or recently worked for Advanced Transcription?  Could you Email me.
Advanced Transcription
how are they to work for?  Is there enough work for the time you commit to?  Do they have direct deposit? Thank you so much for your help.
Advanced Transcription, Inc
Anyone heard of Advanced....how are they to work for?  Do they require weekends?  What is line rate?
Advanced in Oregon???
They run out of work on accounts, and then expect you to pick up and just learn a new one on a moment's notice.  You have to have MSN messenger and be accountable if you need to step out and give them notice if you're not working a particular day that you have to commit to working (they leave that out until you are all signed on and set-up).  The platform is clunky.  The recruiter is nice at first, of course, aren't they all?  Then, you get to working and the accounts run out.     This was my experience.  I dropped 'em; IC to me equals freedom, not chained to the desk.  Sorry...
Advanced is not in Kentucky

I think it's in Arizona, but anyway.  It's not a bad company to work for.  The only thing is you have to be on pager and give them a schedule yet you are an IC.  The pay is not too bad.  The work runs out and they put you on another account.  The platform is horrible and takes a lot of time to do demographics and such.  There is also patient lists that are pages and pages long.

I can't really say anything negative other than they hire ICs, but you have to tell them when you'll be working.  They may be more flexible now, who knows.

Advanced Transcription out of Portland, OR??
Anyone have any information on this company or currently work for them?
Advanced Transcription, Inc, out of Oregon?
Noticed they had a posting on MTJobs looking for ICs. Did a search but "advanced transcription" is hard to find both here and in search engines without it being about schools. Anyone with experience? Pay on time? Steady work? Etc?

I'm thinking of applying but I always like to hear about companies first.

TIA
How about Advanced Radiology, ever heard of them?
Any information, good or bad, about them?

Has anyone heard of Advanced Medical Trnscription out of NJ?  I would love to hear from present or past employees.

ADVANCED MEDICAL TRANSCRIPTION

First line of the ad:

RADIOLOGY Transcriptionist NEEDED FOR 5 TO 9 OR 10 EVERY WEEKDAYS EVENING

It's one thing to play grammar/punctuation/spelling police for casual posters, but this is posted by the COMPANY, and so it's fair game.  I would not apply just based on the ad content alone.

Wondering if they have flexible shifts or if you have to stick to a certain timeframe everyday, and whether or not you can just do clinic work or if they require the big 4.

Any other info such as how you liked the job, etc., would be great, too.
Does anyone know about Advanced Transcription Technologies out of NY?
I was thinking about applying with them, but I can't find any information on them good or bad.  Thanks a lot!
