All they have to go by

is what you say, so use good grammar to prove you know how. I like to have worked some numbers to have in front of me to show the difference between say, 7.5 cents a line and 8 cents, etc. Ask now long a line is, whether headers and footers are counted. Ask about the software and how you will be trained. As about how much downtime, how much work is available. Ask about incentives.

But you also want to show what you have to offer them. This is not the time to gush about your kids or how your grandkids come first, etc. They can't even ask if you have children (at least in my State), and obviously they can cause more interruptions, so at this point they are not to be mentioned or heard in the background IMO. (You wouldn't take them with you on an interview, would you?) You want to sound businesslike, professional, organized, and as if your job is your first priority. If you have experience or special talents or skills, point them out (such as ESLs). Or have you worked for a teaching hospital. If you are right out of school, hopefully it is Andrews or M-Tec or some great school.

Good luck.
