expect to be paid on time.

I'm sure that when you accepted the job they told you when they would pay, e.g. every 2 weeks. If you have that info I would remind them of their policy.

When I contracted I would put 30 days net on the invoice but since working for others, have never been told that as an IC, I should not expect to be paid on time.

The company could be having a difficult time financially which would explain the delay.
