I completely agree with you. The cost of living in California is completely insane, as I understand it is in NYC (although I have never lived on the East Coast). People in California typically spend at least 50% on their mortage or rent payments. Arnie says the state is about to go bankrupt, and I believe him.

I agree with AnnuderMT.
I also started back when there were tapes to transcribe. I also cannot afford to return to school to train for another position. My husband is unable to work due to a disability so my income is it. I have thought about returning to work in a doctor's office or one of the hospitals here but they pay approximately $11/hour. I can't live on that. So I muddle through day to day in hopes something will improve. I also just thank God I have a job.
