Those are proper names of things and need to be looked up and

I'm curious as to what the problems are. It seems like a lot of familiar names are gone nm.
    xx
Not familiar with actual company but familiar with platform some use and it is super-slick!
    //
    Or what about lap band?
    http://www.liebertonline.com/doi/abs/10.1089/109264203322333593

That procedure sounds safer and also quite effective. Don't know about insurance coverage, but surely it must cost less, so they ought to IMO.
I have a friend who had a lap band, and even though

in the face and still, I repeat still, deals with the emotional issues that caused her to overeat in the first place.  I am no skinny Minnie, but I know eating is a way to feed an inner problem that needs comfort.  I am not obese, so I can't speak of what that feels like either, but even with a lap band you have to diet and exercise.  A mental assessment is also a prerequisite.  If you can get the problem as to why you overeat and do not exercise and diet, then I think that would be better than having the surgery.

My friend does say she cannot eat everything she wants, but she still complains of the same emotional stresses that she had before the surgery, which tells me this is deep-seeded and not something that can be fixed by having surgery.

The other thing to think about is as you get older how will this effect your body?  I think nature has a way of taking care of us even if we are obese.  Not all obese people have the same medical problems such as diabetes, arthritis, thyroid disorders, and shortness of breath.

Please think if you can about a way to try exercising first before having an extremely risky surgery that the outcome is not always positive.

No lap band, unclear on other SM
and you have to have 6 months minimum of nutritional and exercise counseling before consideration for payment.
    band together, are you game?
To all my fellow MDI'ers, I think it is time to tighten up the bootstraps and starting thinking out of the box. Let's get together in private, put our thinking caps on, combine resources, and see what we can do for ourselves and each other. Every email will be confidential... we still have our integrity! Write to AmericanMT@yahoo.com
We all need to band together!!! And we DO need to contact an attorney. This has become CRIMINAL!
    This is not legal!
I googled name & phrase but may be too old sm
probably old info but may be able to catch up with her  LINK click
We band together and start our own company offering our services to the hospitals we've been work

on already and take our accounts back from Transcend.  I haven't signed any noncompete contract with Transcend.  Would the MDI one be null and void? If my pay rate is null and void, so must my noncompete.  They can't have it both ways.

Oh Good God. It's an ancient phrase that
was based on fact because that was how their culture was. They believed in trading for things, etc. That doesn't make it RACIST. This kind of overreacting to stuff like this is why when something really is racist, we aren't taken seriously about objecting to it.
"Make her an IC" - very telling phrase!
Your phrase expresses precisely the travesty I'm talking about.

What you're saying, in essence, is that they might 'make her start up her own business', because that's what being an IC really is - being in business for yourself.

If I were to knock on your door, grab you in a headlock and tell you that I was forcing you to start up a hot dog vending business, how many nanoseconds would it take you to call the police (and probably the men with a butterfly net, too!)?

This is just disgusting - on about six different levels.
To re-phrase: The bullies are the big, wealthy
companies going after a non-wealthy employee whom they deem as someone who will be unable to stand up to them. They know this person has no means to pay a big settlement (which they know they're not going to get, anyway). I think they and others just like them are trying to shut up the whistle-blowers who are being exploited by an increasingly dishonest and underhanded industry. (Not unlike what the insurance industry and most of the health care industry have become, these days). If they can shut up the whistle-blowers, they can prevent the truth from getting out to the general public, and can continue with 'business as usual'.
no name, learn this phrase: "Would you like fries with that?" nm
    !
"Used to work there" is the operative phrase....they are currently
hiring (again) because they are trying to fill positions for a huge new account starting in 2 weeks.
That "better producer" phrase sounds like -
    Moo.
In the MT field, I associate the phrase "Indian-
in which case it's most DEFINITELY apropos.

    Racist? Perhaps.

    Appropriate to the situation?
    ABSOLUTELY !!!!!!!
I liked the phrase "to suffer to work"
I think it pretty much sums up life! But it does also sure sound like we should be being paid for waiting for work to roll in, specifically mentioning a secretary waiting for dictation.
ha!!! I knew it. I QA'd a few reports and every common phrase was wrong.
    DISGUSTING!!!!!
Anyone know of a really good online Radiology word/phrase

    resource site?  TIA.

Maybe the one you got looked better
The one I received appeared childish and not at all professional.
    Looked them up.......
and it said there was 1 employee. Maybe it is a 1-woman business and she needs help for a while. That would explain not paying on time (she has to wait to get paid before she can pay anyone else). I would proceed with caution.
have you ever actually looked into this??? SM
YES, you can't get benefits for half, but the coverage is all but worthless! Basically covers a disaster and nothing more. HUGE deductibles, etc. So yes, you can get an insurance policy for half the cost, but for what? Trust me, I have spent hours researching this for my own family when we needed our own benefits. It was awful.
    Just looked
At their hospital list and they definitely ARE NOT hospitals that they service, they couldn't possibly, as a lot of the hospitals are accounts that I work on for Medquist
    yea i looked
yea i have looked an the job seekers forum but did not see anything. i have no idea where else to look. i really want to find something online though.
    Just looked
Don't know anything about SS, but I looked at the posts and they are really stupid and very immature. Also served no purpose whatsoever.
I never really looked at it that way....
    xx
Have you looked in the............. sm
yellow pages at the physician listings lately? The Indian physicians are coming to the US where they can make money off of insurance companies, Medicare and Medicaid.

I worked for an Indian physician in the 1990s and he told me that he was thrilled to be able to come to America to do his residency where he made $5 an hour reading telemetry strips and EKGs while completing the residency program. He told me that doctors in India make so little because there is no insurance program there, and even if there were, the majority of Indians are so poor they couldn't afford it.

We Americans tend to forget that not every country in the world is as highly developed as we are in terms of health care, technology and even general living conditions.
    anyone familiar with . . .

Electronic Medical Transcription Services?  Found them on MTJobs and would like some insight.  Thanks!

    Familiar
Firday entertainment or just an owner / operator looking to get feedback - maybe if they are tired of annon bellyaching, they should post their company name and let us have it lol. Mnay of us do go to the people who bring us on as IC - but as an IC they state it is rheir company and they can do as they like - and sure they can - but without good MT they will not go anywhere but India. You owners must soon come to realize that we give your company it's good (or bad) name for the work WE do - you on the other hand hold checks, bounce checks, and give us grief for your own downfalls. Good luck to you all.
not familiar with D & L? who are they
    x
I am not familiar with SH, so not much help there...
But I did use an Expander program that boosted my productivity b/4. That was great and it helped, but I needed to take the next step. With IT, it sort of thinks ahead for you. No memorizing the shortcuts...it works differently. If you type tpwa for The patient was admitted, IT automatically brings up several words and phrases that MIGHT possibly be used next, like: to the emergency room, to the hospital, in the past, and all you have to do is use 1 or 2 more Keystrokes to add whatever phrase is dictated. If you go to textware.com, you can get the lowdown. They also have a refund policy if it does not work for you. It took me a while to get used to it, but I love it now. I also use my expander in addition to IT. I have hospital, the, and, physician, etc. under my expander as well. Not sure if this is what you are looking for, but I hope this helps.

    Good luck!
Anyone familiar with LTS, Inc? Thanks
    nm
    Anybody familiar with SFT
There is a job posting on the job board by this company. Anybody know anything about this company?
Most of the ones I am familiar with you
either save up your sick time or vacation time (if they give any) or take Family Medical Leave Act with no pay.
You would not do at 4 cpl but very familiar?
I think $20+ per hour now times is pretty good salary plus with my full retirement money from SS and retirement check, I come out ok. You as others on here are doubting Thomases but those are the ones who can't cut the mustard doing it and probably never will be able to do for a good paycheck. Funny thing but the most I see for VR is 4, some has fallen to 3 and yet you are familiar,,,,, hmmmm would not do for 4. Oh, that makes a lot of sense, never do for 4 and very familiar. Do those 2 belong in the same sentence? If you really were familiar then you as a longterm MTer would not a newbie could not do.
    I'm Familiar But It Was
There has been a lot of restructuring there and things are still in a state of complete disorganization.  Upper management gives conflicting comments when asked questions or for clarification, turnover is high, pay for MTs has been cut repeatedly, QA requirements gets changed often, and the list goes on.......it was not a good experience and personally I'm not sure I would recommend them to anyone.  If you have more questions, I'll be happy to answer them.
Well, DUH! Guess I could have looked that up, eh? (LM)

(Smacking myself for being not so smart.)  Thanks!

Well, I DID look it up, and this is what I found for my state.  (I would think that working on a platform that is unreliable and defective, in addition to losing more than half of what I had been making, in addition to management's knowledge for several months now that the program doesn't work and refusal to fix it -- might fit into one of these categories).

    VOLUNTARY QUIT

UC Law provides, in part, that a claimant shall be ineligible for benefits for any week in which his/her unemployment is due to voluntarily leaving work without cause of a necessitous and compelling nature. A claimant who voluntarily quits continuing work has the burden of proof in establishing good cause for quitting; and, that such cause was real and substantial, leaving the claimant no other alternative. The burden is on the claimant to show that, prior to quitting continuing employment, he/she made every reasonable effort to maintain the employer-employe relationship.

Following are examples of some common voluntary quit situations.

Due to unsuitable work - When an employe accepts a position, he/she admits to the initial suitability of the position with respect to its wages and the conditions of employment. When a claimant quits because he/she feels the job was unsuitable, the claimant must show there were changes in the conditions of employment, to which he/she did not agree upon, that made the job unsuitable, or there was deception on the part of the employer with regard to the conditions of employment at the time of hire, or he/she shall be considered ineligible. The suitability of the work will be determined by considering factors such as the degree of risk involved to the claimant's health, safety and morals; the claimant's physical fitness; the claimant's prior training and experience; the distance of the available work from the claimant's residence; the prevailing condition of the labor market; and the prevailing wage rates in the trade or occupation.

Job not the same as what was anticipated - To be eligible, the claimant must show that the monetary expectations of employment were not fulfilled through no fault of the claimant. For example, a claimant takes a job selling vacuum cleaners because he/she has been told he/she could make $50,000 per year through commission sales. After three weeks, the claimant quits the job because he/she was unable to make any sales and the personal expenses exceeded the income, thereby warranting the allowance of benefits.

I looked at it and don't thing that gives
    x
I see 206 people have looked at

this post but not one commented back on a specific. Guess that means all is okay out here in MT land. Cuckoo. Cuckoo.

    I looked in the Archives.
    its in there.
Have you looked for work lately
Evidently you have not changes jobs lately, you are lucky to get 8 with tons of experience.
Exactly why the business is looked upon as
housewives doing not much of anything except just typing. I guess you put the above on your resume, huh, rearing children?
    i looked at the article...
and it still does not clear up the line count issue for me at all. : (
    I looked inside...

You are wrong on this one.  There is no problem with a company requiring a certain number of lines from an IC.  They cannot tell you which hours to work, but they can require a certain end result.  Get it?  Go back and read the IRS definition of an IC.

duh, I never even looked at your moniker

I would ask for a different primary, but I'm not sure I would go into details with your liason at the risk of jeopardizing a good working relationship with him/her.  Good luck.

Look again. I just looked at their website. SM
It states on the homepage in the first paragraph -- all Encompass employees reside in the United States.

Also states under Why Encompass? U.S. based transcriptionists -- never outsourced overseas.

OP said she looked in archives..
But I will take you up on that as I also thought of applying.
I have just looked at their benefits sm
I work for TT right now and the benefits, incentives, etc. are similar. I am very happy and comfy at TT and will stay there. Nothing worth switching for.
I saw that ad and looked suspicious to me.

Anytime there isn't a legit company name or phone number and/or town, makes me wonder.  Maybe his name is Balla Honor;-) AKA no honor involved at all.

have you looked at the job board

Most you're lucky if you see 8 cpl.   hmmmmm....   this business is going down the tubes quick....

Just had a friend tell me - was offered 5.00 per report for long dictations and 5 cpl for short ones, but need to work weekends as an IC - yeah right.  Are we back in the 80s??????
