Back about 1966 my mother offered to work a week for free at a MT job for a 10-man (yes, they were all men) multi-specialty clinic, since it would be her first MT job, to see if she could handle it. They actually said no, they didn't need to do that, and they put her on payroll immediately. In 1972 she needed extra help, I could type and spell and I had passed high school biology, so I learned MT at my mother's knee. Literally. But nobody has EVER asked me to work for free. Sheesh!
