Read carefully
Am I bitter? Nope, I have a very good job with an excellent MTSO. Pay good and on time, plenty of work.

HOWEVER...

Read these boards lately, and actually absorbed their contents? How many MTs do you see on here DESPERATE to find work, at any cost? They can't even get an acknowledgement to their resumes and their posts scream of their desperation. MTs on the verge of evication. MTs wondering where their next meal will come from. MTs getting their benefits cut because they cannot make lines due to lack of work.

That, my fellow MT, is where MY compassion lies. Not for some second-income, I don't need to work at all and I'm turning down jobs that don't fit my schedule. What a slap in the face to our fellow MTs are who struggling to survive!

Where is YOUR mind? Where is YOUR heart?

I'm guessing you're probably one of those providing a secondary income to your family for 'extras' and NOT the sole provider as so many of us are, otherwise your compassion would perhaps go in the same direction my compassion goes.

Read that MQ board? Talk about a heartbreaker. Those women are applying everywhere and having no luck; they're trapped. IMO, THAT is reason for sympathy and heartfelt sorrow. Not someone with a self-professed great job taking up the valuable time of MTSOs who weed through applications for candidates only to find she really isn't interested anyway.

Perhaps you need to look in your own little Christian-based glass house before you start tossing stones.

I suspect the bitterness lies within YOU.
I don't either. I read the email carefully.

read the posting carefully...sm
I specifically put an end date to accepting applications because seems like I get them for the rest of my life. Also anyone who sends one after my applications close gets put on my junk mail list and I never see 'em again. That's  what they get for not following directions.
If you read what I wrote more carefully
you would see that I said it is fine as long as they tell you up front. Which they don't. Which means it isn't fine.

In other words, I was being a little sarcastic :)
If you read her post carefully...
She does indeed indicate they employ about 25 ILPs that do this for 'price point' reasons and apparently the client is in agrement.
Read their contract VERY carefully if you proceed. nm

I had a typo. That should read..I do NOT make half the rate, etc.

If you'll read more carefully you'll see
I was referring to AFTER she's missed out on a job, having a friend do sort of an audit to tell her what what was wrong with her test she submitted -- not cheating.
TO: Bayou MT

AMEN TO THAT SISTA'!!!.  I know that is all I ever wanted - to be compensated FAIRLY for my labor and not paid like a MT in India.

Sweet Pete Bayou MT. Part of your responsibility as an MT
is to look up unfamiliar terminology, doctor's names, etc. and MAKE A NOTE OF IT, so you don't have to look it up again. All I can say is good luck with your career as an MT.
Think carefully about it because sm
you really are going to be ill when you see the work that is typed every day.  It is much easier and less stressful to be responsible for your own report.  At least if you are typing or doing VR, you can have some pride in your work.  The only people you'll see in QA are the lazy ones who have no pride and no longer care.
Correcting myself-SM
I meant to say stop working when other types of work come.
No wonder she is in spasms, correcting
every single sentence is ridiculous. You either have a very poor system for VR or something very wrong. Are you sure of yourself or do you question your ability? I could not work retyping every sentence.
no I'm too busy correcting the
mistakes, reformatting, deleting stuff the dictator did not say, adding things he did say, and thinking about using the hot keys to have my brain turn to mush.  But I'd rather straight type any day.
Absolutely - listen carefully!

Though not at Transcend, I have just recently been a victim of exactly the sequence of events and circumstances posted above.  It was sooo hard to keep my mouth shut, with a lead sending condescending, negative, accusatory, power-hungry, and just plain idiotic e-mails.  Just couldn't do it, wanting to have my side/opinion/defense known to all the blind CC's - management.  The power went to her head, and it was like being assaulted through e-mail on a daily basis.  When I made a suggestion, it was rudely shot down immediately.

I wish I had though, because it was my demise.  It also was a damned-if-you-do, damned-if-you-don't situation, though, so I really still don't know what I could have done differently.  You have to respect yourself, you know?

Anyway, to the posters who said just keep doing a good job -- that doesn't really matter anymore.  There is no work ethic anymore.  There are plenty in line waiting for your job.  There is no one to help us.  We are at their mercy.

And to the suggestion, if you don't have resolution, go higher -- YEAH, RIGHT!!!  Management just LOVES that!  Look where it got me!!  That absolutely does not work anymore - so please, please just follow the rules and keep your mouth shut about everything!

Sorry, that was me correcting me - it is good discipline to do that. sm
If I allow the haphazard here, it might creep into my reports.
Subtle way of correcting her error. I like that.

Correcting the spelling of a company name
It will help the OP find information in the archives.
I think if you look carefully at the bottom of most apps, you give
I have not filled out a single application in years that didn't request permission for a credit check. Scary, huh?
If I were the company, I'd pick my battles more carefully.
And better still, I'd try harder avoid the conflict by treating my employees like human beings. Happy, well-compensated employees are less likely to post negative comments than unhappy ones who feel wronged or cheated.

I don't think you can have it both ways. You can't continually kick your workers around, and then expect them to keep on licking your hand. Sooner or later, they're gonna bite.
As long as we're correcting people
Someone could actually be a really fast typist but not a good speller. You should have said Maybe their line rate was low because you couldn't spell well. If you're going to be snide, at least have it make sense.
Did you tell them to only send you the lines that needed correcting then?

Let me get this straight.  They want you to read the entire report (which is considered working in my book), and there are no corrections, then you have just done them a favor?  What do they take us for?

4000-5000+ lines per day of correcting awful VR? No thanks.

Relates to a posting below; correcting a spelling error n/m

The moderators said stop correcting people's posts - not questioning medical reports -
The OP was talking about in actual medical reports, not on these posts - or at least that is the way I took it.

I too am concerned about the way medical reports are looking and being put on charts. It is ridiculous and dangerous!!!
I read all read all the threads in the "companies" section
of another board, MT Chat, and Googled each one that got positive reviews. If they had a website and a way to apply online, I did so. And that was how I got hired at TRS. They were not advertising at the time. By sheer coincidence I applied to Transcend just before I applied to TRS, and they were not interested in what I had to offer at the time. And now they've got me anyway, since they bought TRS. Interesting how things work out sometimes.

Companies with negative reviews, or company queries that got only a terse I sent you a PM reply, I passed over.
Sorry for the typo there
I meant to say to you mean offshore.
typo
Mr. Ormond earned $17 million not $71 million
yes, MDI-MD - sorry, that was a typo

Sorry - big typo
It was 50 minutes -- I was thinking 50 min of dictation equals about 500 lines.
that's bad, not bac. sorry for the typo
it is early here, need coffee.
Sorry typo
E-Transcription
Now that would be a typo, rather than what
she correctly pointed out as grammatical error :)
that would be instead... not the typo... see I
and can't even transcribe a post... uggg, I don't know why I even come here, I get so frazzled. Sorry for the instead typo.
I believe it's a typo
There is a transcription company in that area called SureScribe, and my assumption was that when it was entered on the other board, it just didn't get entered in correctly. As to the way the phone number is written, it looks like they're all kind of different ways on there, so I'm thinking it's more an issue of formatting...we kind of get spoiled and assume that the site will format things properly for us, but in this case it didn't happen.

I don't sense anything nefarious at play here. Just a smallish transcription company (as opposed to the multinational types), which means it is probably the kind of place where a good MT could go and be appreciated. If it weren't for that once a month pay thing, I'd be tossing my hat into the ring. I do much better as a big fish in a little pond than the other way around!
Sorry for the typo...
I really don't have my mind today!
oops - typo......should/ve said....sm
sorry, I made a typo - should've been can/could see many posters........
Please excuse the typo - buy for by! (duh on me)

typo in resume
Was it your job to weed out misspelling ;-) too funny! One would think that you would have PROOFED your own post!
Ok - so I had a typo. I am human ya know.
.
I am assuming the 0.075 is a typo?
x
Ooops TYPO

I better correct my statement before I raked over the coals for a typo by the grammar police.  The platform is great and exceed the line count every pay period.

It should read The platform is great and I exceed the line count every pay period.

I guess I better get this first cup of coffee down quick!!!

typo---meant do, not so.
Thanks!

No spelling police normally on this board, but when you are offering your services, free or otherwise, you should proof your copy for spelling/punctuation errors.
