All hot keys if you wish! nm

In VR I use no keys until
I come to a correction. I use my mouse and set over say the page, paragraph and read along. If a correction is needed, I place my mouse over that and either delete, put another word in. I do not scan with the mouse word by word. My eyes are editing, the mouse is just there. I do not use the combination keys like VRer does, just never wanted to learn, figured just would slow me down.
On VR have never used the keys
only the mouse and can keep up with the audio as fast as it goes. No idea about with the keys, just did not want to do.
Use shortcut keys
I forgot to say you should use all of the shortcut keys.

Alt K will take you to the red block and Alt . (period) will put a period at the end of the sentence as well as capitalize the next sentence.

Try practicing these.
I had heard had to use hot keys
in order to do more but been doing the same ole thing for so long do not use those. What are you averaging per hour, per day and compare that with what you were doing straight.
I believe you can reprogram the keys
I think you can re-program those command keys to suit your needs. Contact the Emdat help desk about it. I know I did reprogram a couple of mine.
Of course I use the shortcut keys, but
what do the shortcut keys have to do with the quality of the work that ISR spews out? The whole idea is that we shouldn't have to do much editing!! That is the whole premise behind ISR. But my experience has been one of very tedious time consuming editing that never gets any better. Often times even seems to be getting worse. I'm just giving my experience.
Word function keys
Yes, this does happen. There is a little program that goes into your computer when they load Transnet, which disables the function keys of Word. Ctrl S in Word is Save, Ctrl S in Transnet is to search prior jobs, etc. Ctrl N in Word brings up a new document. Ctrl N in Transnet ends and spell checks the job. THis should go away when you UNINSTALL Transnet the proper way.
Oh how could I forget those friggin' "F" keys?!

I actually got pretty adept at manipulating those commands, but what a total pain.  My wrists really took a beating during that stint too because of reaching for those stupid F keys.  Blech blech blech!

If you are using Express Scribe, you can use your function keys and...
the instructions are in the Help section or maybe it is in Setup.  Good luck on the test!
You use the Ctrl + keys to access everything in the program. Very
s
the company sets the keys - ask your job. It is not the phone.
I have worked on several accounts via C-phone and each acocunt had it set their own way - similar - but not exact. Companies can calibrate each gal differently as well such as not being able to skip jobs, among other things.

ask you supervisor.
Does Axolotl use hot keys or a foot pedal? sm

If they use hot keys, are they hard to learn if you've only ever used a foot pedal before?

Thanks for the info!

I use keyboard only....move along with the voice with my arrow keys, then...
my mouse is right where the voice is when I have to make a correction. Couldn't do it any other way.
Re: Bayscribe
Yes! Yes! Yes. Go for it. You will not regret it.
BayScribe
I've worked with BayScribe for 18 months and LOVE it! Everything is on one screen, no toggling through screens between demographics, transcription, and copies.
MDI-MD -- Bayscribe
May I ask you how long it took you to learn Bayscribe? I haven't read anything bad about MDI-MD; they almost sound too good to be true. Or maybe it's just that there really ARE some good companies out there. It all looks SO overwhelming to me that I'm almost afraid to try it. Any encouraging words you can give would be greatly appreciated. TIA.
Bayscribe
You can move through fields using the tab key. Alt D will bring up the doctor's roster.

Bayscribe - Help! sm

I just locked up my keyboard.  It works, except for with Bayscribe.  I'm half way through a long report.  Anybody with any ideas?

BayScribe
It doesn't matter. I use the BayScribe platform too, has nothing to do with your LD.
Bayscribe
Yes, Landmark uses Bayscribe, that is if they have any work!
Bayscribe is a lot like DQS. Don't particularly like either much! nm
x
Bayscribe
is MUCH easier to use than DQS! No comparison!
Bayscribe
I have heard this as well and am waiting for the recruiter to call me back as I am very interested. I have heard nothing bad at all about MDI-MD which is great!
Bayscribe

I currently work on the Bayscribe platform and I absolutely love it!  It seems to be very MT friendly and I also get a great line count.  Hope this helps-

Bayscribe
Is this a good platform to work on?
Bayscribe
It's okay--I have worked with a lot worse. Pretty simple and easy to learn.  Doesn't slow you down in any way, I don't think.
i like bayscribe too,
your cc list, adt, text area, QA comments, are all on one screen.

but i saw recently where about 3 companies were mentioned that use it, and i cannot find where i wrote them down.

its not perfect, but i think you can go pretty fast on it.
Try MDI-MD. They use Bayscribe

BayScribe
It's kind of a bare bones kind of platform, but I really like it. You are not slowed down by opening up a lot of windows for your demographics, transcription page, and copies. You can access your own reports, but as far as I know, no one else's. Hope that helps.
Bayscribe
Do they use only Bayscribe? TIA
Bayscribe

Does anyone know if Bayscribe will run with other transcription programs loaded on same computer???

bayscribe
Bayscribe is a lot faster than DocQscribe. It's very MT friendly. The only thing about it is that that spellchecker is...shall we say....quite anemic. Other than that, it's awesome.
Bayscribe
I have worked on DQS and Bayscribe. There are certain features of DQS I like better (being able to insert a doctor's name into the report with a keystroke command, but overall Bayscribe is a lot easier to use.
IT and Bayscribe
Yes, I've had this happen. You have to be careful to spell the first word of the sentence after the period correctly or it sometimes won't capitalize. I'm still trying to figure out what causes this. I think it has something to do with backspacing too many times. This just started happening recently.
Why do you need them in Bayscribe?
the bayscribe Expander and work and my ShortHand works in whatever program I'm in, including Bayscribe.
BayScribe
If you have an internet account, you do not have to input any patient info. I've worked on ExText before, and I think BayScribe is faster because you don't have to wait for the pages to load. You just transcribe.
Bayscribe ?
I am being told that my Stedman's software is not compatible with Bayscribe.  Is there a program on Bayscribe that is comparable to Stedman's?  Is it true that the spellchecker does not identify mispelled words with underling or such?  Thanks
Bayscribe

Sometimes you have to just reboot your computer.  If you keep having problems, I would check with the company not here.

MDI-MD/BayScribe
I've been with MDI for almost 4 years and have also worked on ExText. I like both programs. I think BayScribe is a good platform with all demographics, transcription, and cc's entered on one screen, which is probably my favorite thing about BayScribe. I do wish the spellchecker was better. You have to enter a lot yourself into it. BayScribe doesn't have as many bells and whistles as ExText, but to me it feels fast.
MDI-ID / Bayscribe
I use Bayscribe for a company other than MDI-MD and I use PC ShortHand also. No one had to download it into anything. I just brought it up and started typing and it automatically worked. However, I am not sure if all Bayscribe platforms are the same. I really like it and do not mind working with it.
MDI-MD/Bayscribe
I was hired by MDI-MD this week and am scheduled to have training this week. I am curious what your opinion would be regarding Bayscribe. I have heard the tech there can get your Expander (mine is PC Shorthand) to work with the Bayscribe software. Is this true? Also, can you use any CDs i.e., Stedman's references, at all? Overall, would like to know what your opinion is regarding Bayscribe. Thank you.

Bayscribe
platform SUCKS BIG TIME!
IT and Bayscribe
You need to go to the IT website and download the newest upgrade. It's free and easy to do. That will enable you to use it with Bayscribe.
BayScribe
How do you like working on BayScribe? I have always thought I would like to apply at MDI but not sure about BayScribe...is it difficult to learn? Can you make a good line count on it? Thank you.
Bayscribe
My set up with tech support was about 10 minutes. Like the last person said, it's all in the manual anyway. Bayscribe is really straightforward. Doesn't have some of the whistles and bells of other platforms, but it's a snap to learn.
Bayscribe?

Okay, I know that Landmark and MDI-MD both use Bayscribe but I have heard other MTs say that both of those companies are frequently low on work.  Does anybody out there know of any other company that uses Bayscribe?  Thanks.

Bayscribe
XP will work much better than Vista, I think.
Bayscribe
Baycribe has to be downloaded from their website. The technician will walk you through it. Takes no time at all. I work on a Lanier account and use that unit. As far as I know, only have to work 2 weekend days per month, unless that has changed, but not to my knowledge. There is plenty of work. It does take time to get through the training jobs in the beginning, because actually I think everybody is so busy; the account liasons, supervisors; etc., but keep your chin up - your wings will be clipped soon once you get through them and your fingers will be very busy.
i like bayscribe
and personally think QA is 98% great. yes, i've had to adjust some things from the way i was used to doing it, but with every different company, there are things to adapt to.

The accounts are all quite different, and the recruiter is willing to move a person to an account that suits their abilities. In fact, MDI will work more with the individual to find the right fit, and every other way, than any company i've ever worked for in decades! Of course, MDI won't be the right fit for everyone.
