I could never manage with only getting paid every other month. That's a long stretch between paydays!!!

No, bimonthly means every other month....
Bi-monthly = Every other month
Bi-weekly = Every other week.

Check the dictionary.
IC's are paid twice a month, sm
but you are paid the 15th for the prior month's work. Employee status is different and have a different pay schedule.

I know, I worked there. The first month is difficult, but after that the checks flow routinely. You do get used to it though.
Getting paid once a month???!!! Not for me. nm

Only paid once a month
Is it normal for a service to only pay once a month? Also, to take lines away from line count for errors and have to give a 30-day notice? I am thinking of accepting a job that does this, but am feeling a bit uneasy as they only pay 3.5 for VR, which is 80% of the job. Thanks for any input.
Only paid once a month
What worries me is who is going to say what an error is? I've worked with QA people before and was totally frustrated with inconsistent feedback.
I am paid once a month.
But I am also paid 12 cpl so the check is worth the wait. The reason I would not take this position is the 3.5 cpl. Even with VR, you are going to have a hard time earning a decent wage, especially if they deduct from that for errors.
Only paid once a month
Thanks you guys for all your posts. I am not taking the job and am back to square one with looking for a new one.

Is there such a thing as good pay and treatment for good work in MT anymore?

I have been looking now for over 6 months. Seems like every time I find what seems to be a good job, all of a sudden the small print kills it. I sure am glad I can come here to find out about them first or would have been burned long ago. The place I work at now just put in VR and will have EHR soon. Makes me nervous even though they are assuring us we will not lose our jobs. What do you think?
I only get paid twice a month
what plan are you on to get paid every other week?
And only paid once a month...

Yet another company I'm asking to go fly a kite!

No, you dont get paid once a month. - sm
You get paid twice a month, but rather than invoicing on the first and getting paid on the 15th, every basicall 14 days, you will wait 28 days.  So you will wait an exgtra cople of weeks for the first check, but after that you do get paid twice a month.
About 1-1/2 years ago, I paid almost $600/month for COBRA. sm

That was for medical, dental, vision, one person.  Hope this helps.  It is tremendously expensive, but it does get you by until you get something else.

Good luck!

Waiting for that first check is normal. Getting paid once a month is not.
s
Paid twice a month, with invoices submitted on the 16th and the 1st. sm

Until now, there was no set pay date, but an email today stated that the funds wold be released within 5 business days, and they are working on having it done within 3 days.

Regardless, it is still quicker than any place else I have been paid.  At another place, the pay period ends the same, but I am not paid until the 8th and the 23rd, and then it is by check, not direct deposit (Cardioscribes pays via direct deposit.)

At my full time job, the pay period ends on Sunday at midinght, and I am not paid until a week later on Monday.

So, even though it is a bit different not having a specific date to call payday, I still am paid quickly and have no issues with it, but then again, I only work part-time.  The people there are great, and it is cardiology clinic work, so it is a nice change of pace for me compared to acute care.

Hope this helps.

Every company I have worked for (5 total) has paid twice a month. sm
Every two weeks would be too hard to manage. I get paid on the 10th and 25th, so I pay all my bills on the 12th and 27th, which works out perfectly for me.
This is not true. I have been there a month and get a good line rate and paid for spaces. ??? nm

I'd never survive on BIMONTHLY pay....
It's sometimes a struggle with biweekly pay when something unexpected comes up, but I'd never survive on bimonthly. Ouch.
What is TH's pay period? Two weeks or bimonthly? nm
.
Bimonthly means every 2 weeks...sm
I think you misunderstood what bimonthly pay means...she pays every 2 weeks, on the 15th and the end of the month, just as most companies do. How is that difficult to budget?
What is their payperiod -- 2 weeks or bimonthly?

It's a MINIMUM, and it's per bimonthly pay period.
No, everyone does not get paid the same line rate, and we all work at different speeds.

Just for the fun of it... let's try some math. Say you average 150 LPH (which is the minimum LPH quota for us former TRS folks, anyway; don't know if that's across the board at Transcend). So if you work 8 hours, that's 1200 lines a day, which I am told is a ballpark quota across the industry. There are 11 days in MOST pay periods, so that would be 13,200 lines per pay period.

$900 divided by 13,200 equals roughly 6.9 cents.

I would sincerely HOPE that MOST people are getting paid WELL above THAT! But that's all you'd need to make per line, at 150 LPH, 8 hours a day for 11 work days, to meet the minimum to be considered full time.

8 cents a line at 13,200 lines would gross you $1056. 9 cpl would get you up to $1188.

And if you work faster than 150 cpl, it goes even higher.

The $900 per pay period floor offers plenty of wiggle-room for the occasional bad day, and the occasional 10-day pay period.

And the $900 per pay period is supposed to be an AVERAGE; if you drop below it for one pay period, you don't get cut off at the knees. Or so I am told. Personally, I've never been anywhere near that low....

I thought I saw a post somewhere that says they pay bimonthly and not biweekly. Can anyone
s
I was told several new accts are coming on this month and also next month, so
I'm not worrying.
Pay period goes from 1st of the month to the 15th, then 16th to the end of the month. sm

So, I guess you could maybe get by with less than 1000 a day, although the incentive tier would make it worth your while to do a bit more.  I am using ExText, and yes, I find it easy to use, but then I used it for a year with another company.  I think their other platform is Mongoose, and I know nothing about that, so really cannot say.

Yes, they are hiring now.  In fact, there is a $500 sign-on bonus.  I think it is all just acute care.  I'm sure they would love to have someone with your experience.  Rhonda Durham is the recruiter.  I am sure she could answer any of your questions.  I am happy to help too, if I can, but I am relatively new.  The account I am working on is mostly psych, it seems, and I am loving it.

Another nice thing, their benefits start after 60 days, not 90 like most.

Good luck to you.

TransHealth starts 1st day of month after month SM
you start, BC/BS, good rate on single, don't know about family premium.
Last month was slow on my account..but this month (sm)
we've been swamped...
The new insurance is very reasonable. I pay $200/month and they pay $200/month. sm
Unfortunately, I have had to use it a lot since it changed and I am very happy. They have covered everything.

The insurance is actually $80 cheaper per month than I paid at the local hospital, which is a large employer.

Training on the system, not paid, but if you are physically typing reports then you are getting paid
nm
Oh, yea -- PAID, too. Grandmother PAID LEAVE would be a great drawing card to TT !!

Just love that PAID TIME OFF !!

Any company that makes you wait to get paid until they get paid by the client
is not a company you want to get involved with. That's part of being an MTSO, figuring out how to cover your payroll while waiting to get paid. I would stay away!
Is this a live count of lines paid for or same as CTRL I that we do not get paid for ?? nm
m
Me too.. the outsourced company was paid for and paid me for headers, but OSI does/did not.
x
I have always paid yearly and have never paid or been assessed a penaltly. nm
nm
Be glad you get paid tomorrow. We are paid on the 1st and the 15th, so sm
since the 1st is on a weekend, we don't get paid until Monday.  It will happen again on the 15th of August …sigh.  It is the only thing I do not like about the company, though, so I guess a few weekends of poverty a year is not too much.
Lori never paid me and now ETC has not paid my friend.
What is WRONG with these companies?
Is it still being paid on time if you are paid on the 1st and 15th.....
and if the 15th falls on a Saturday getting paid on the 17th?  My bank is open and posts on Saturday that means I am not being paid on the 15th doesn't?  This has happened a lot lately.
At least you get paid, I would rather be paid late than not at all. Just my 2 cents.
nm
Yea, at least u got paid. Everyone who worked for TSI is STILL waiting to be paid

I don't understand how Jayne cannot pay us.  We have christmas coming up.  I bet her family has a fantastic Christmas because she is using OUR money to pay for it.  I worked so hard for her and I know the other girls did too.  How insulting that she will not return phone calls or emails or PAY us.  How does she look at herself in the mirror knowing that the MTs who did all the work FOR her did not get paid.  She even sent me an email saying I give you my word HAHAHA her word is nothing, obviously.  Well, I will call the attorney for the THIRD time and see what is going on.

To the poster, at least you got paid even if it was late.  I sincerely hope you get your last check.

Spaces, paid or not paid. Do you know? sm
I just started with a company and when I asked specifically if I would be paid for spaces, they said yes.  When I started using their program I noticed that the line count for each job did not include spaces.  I checked it with more than one program.  I called them and they said there was a glitch in the program that would be fixed.  It has been almost two months now and that glitch is still not fixed.  My checks do not include spaces either.  No one at the company knows what is up.  I can't believe I am the only one at this company who has deduced that they are not paying for spaces.  So, do you check your line counts to see if spaces are included?  You might be in for a surprise.  Man, I am tired of being burned when I am a reliable and honest IC.  Maybe time to do something else.  Thanks for listening.
You get paid when SHE gets paid from the client...sm
I don't like that at all.
$$ per month

I am trying to compare nationals versus working at a hospital.  Please respond if you have time.

For all of you working for a national, what do average making per month?  How many hours per day?  Do you work for one doctor, a clinic, or a hospital?

I, personally, would like to make $2500 to $3000 per month but don't.  Is that unrealistic?  Currently, I only average around $1800 and this is with no benefits; I have flexibility but no benefits.

What transcripton platform do you guys find to be the most productive for you?

I realize you can't have everything, but you do have to live; also, I am trying to stay home because of my son, i.e., taking him to school, being there for school functions, sport's activities, etc.

$$ per month
I make around 5-6K per month and have done so for 4 years running. I work around 45 hours a week with rotating accounts. I do get a high line rate of 12.5 per 65-character line.
A MONTH! What do they tell you when you
call or email them? I'm not waiting a month. I was hoping to get started this week as it is a new pay period and all. Wow. Good luck to you.
about a month

Exactly - that's why every month...sm
when they post the anniversaries there are plenty of employees with the company with 1-27 year anniversaries.
In my second month with MW on EXT..sm
I have had very few issues. For the most part the sound quality is good. A couple bad docs but that is par for the course for a facility that size. Several ESL but some of them are better than the English-speaking I have done in past! I have had no issues making lines if I stay on-task **grin** I am happy I went with them. Hope this helps.....
Been there almost a month now -sm
I don't mind it at all. It didn't take me long to get used to everything. I did get paid and I think fairly. I check my line counts in my own way and I've found them to be perfectly accurate.

Every job is going to have difficult dictators. You know what they say, there's one in every crowd (okay maybe with doctors, there's more than one), but you'll have that anywhere.

They're extremely professional and treat you the same. I agree with the other poster, don't expect anybody to hold your hand there. So if you can stand on your own 2 feet, go for it.
P.S. I pay about $200/month

for two people and this is the highest end insurance (BC/BS PPO) through my hospital.

I was with them for about a month and during that month
I had maybe one week of work. The rest I was out. Pay was so so. QA was a little strange about fixing things that were not wrong to begin with (changing six weeks to six week when it should have stayed weeks). I am still puzzling over that one. Anyway, more often than not, QA was wrong, but you could not tell them that.
it's the 1st of the month after your - sm
90 days are up.   So if you got hired Feb 15 then your insurance would kick in on June 1
