But there are MTs who don't want

They like working as an IC with a schedule.  Makes no sense to me, but whatever floats the boat.

I personally know that there are companies out there that have a 24-hour TAT which is really what IC is about.  Making you work a shift as an IC is just craziness and whoever does it are out of their cages for the day.  That's just my opinion.

I think some have been reported and have had to pay back taxes, but I think there have been posts that it never really benefits the MT in the long run anyway.  It just makes for more of a mess of an already messy situation.

My advice would be to stay away from the companies that have you working a set schedule as an IC.  Tell them that you're glad to work a set schedule when they classify you as an employee.  That would be a great start!  Again, some MTs don't want to rock their boat, so they do as they are told and that's on them.
