that would make it the disease of B. Crohn, therefore, the apostrophe stays. (sm)
That's how I was taught.  If you can replace the apostrophe with the word OF then the apostrophe is correct.  Regular grammar states the apostrophe would stay.  BOS says otherwise. Personally, I like proper grammar.
That is a disease just like cancer

Would you say the same if that were the case?  People like you are despicable.

I am not the OP but I have an AI disease as well and they have worked with me. sm
I did not tell them that I have severe fibromyalgia when I started. I had been doing well and thought I could work FT. Well, three weeks into employment, with everything going well, I had a bad flare up. I handed in my resignation stating what was wrong and that I could not handle working FT at that time.

My lead and then the owner contacted me, telling me that they can either accept my resignation, put me on FMLA or let me do what I can while I am having a flare-up, both within 5 minutes of my sending the email, neither knowing the other person contacted me.

That was 2 years ago. I have had 3 since then and, knock on wood, have been feeling great. I would have probably left KS and been depressed thinking I could not hold a job because of something I could not help. Instead, I found caring people who worked with me and let me do what I needed. I work FT, know that I have to split my shift and help out extra when needed if I can. They work with me without hovering. Mentally, this has been a blessing for me!
Acuspheris sounds like a dreaded disease.

It is also Graves disease, named after Robert J. Graves.
