What is wrong with flexing now and again? After all (sm)
they are pretty flexible with us and I guess it should go both ways.

Go out, walk around the yard, take a little nature break or whatever soothes you.

Have a nice day.
Way too much flexing with my company...
especially lately. It is as if they discount that we have lives outside of MT. It's ridiculous.
I don't get it. Flexing means taking a

couple hours off if work is low and make it up later, either during the week or on the weekend. When work is low, I take time off and check in once-in-a-while, but usually make it up by putting in an hour or two later in the week when the work picks up, or on the weekend. What's wrong with that? I'm no slave. I decide when and how long to flex. I don't sit at the computer all day waiting. That's crazy!

Also, if you flex and make up time later, you don't get overtime because you don't have all your hours and/or lines. That is not illegal.

Why do you hang around on a holiday for 16 hours? Are you scheduled to work that holiday? If so, work your 8 hours if the work is there. If work is not there, standby for your 8 hours. Period. I don't hang around after my 8 hours and you shouldn't either.

I also happen to love getting the emails that tells me how much work is there. It helps me plan the day better.

Don't forget, a couple years ago, there weren't as many people working for TT. I hear there is now around 300-400. That's a big difference and this only happened within thelast year. Give them the benefit of doubt. I'm sure things will straighten out, hopefully soon. They have growing pains.

The only thing I'm not happy about is the communication is breaking down. They should fix that, but otherwise, I'm still happy there.

About that flexing: Funny you should mention that...

Oh, they allow flexing, alright...  That's because there isn't enough work for all the MTs they have overhired and they EXPECT you to flex to get your line count in.  Maybe you have time to work a 12- to 14-hour day just to get your lines in, but some of us have actual lives and cannot afford to flex.  Oh, they try to sweet talk you into that, too, just like with VR.  And thanks for admitting that you aren't the fastest typist:  You see, these are the MTs that VR will benefit.  The ones who are not that fast or that good.  Those of us who are fast, know all the tricks, etc., VR is GARBAGE, A RIPOFF, ETC.

Somehow, I think those wrinkles that TT has developed are going to be permanent.  Don't see how the largest, heaviest iron in the world can iron these out.  If you are a TT MT cheerleader now, come back and let us know in a few months how you feel about TT.

And, hey, how DID you like that MT Week gift?  Pretty much summed up how they feel about the MTs.

Flexing snowballs until nobody has work

I hate flexing, whether I'm doing it or you're doing it.  If I'm doing it, I'm giving up my day off to sit here staring at NSA.  If you're doing it, you're coming on during my scheduled shift, so we're both staring at NSA, and both have short paychecks.  This continues until there is no work on any shift, and nobody makes a full paycheck.  And of course the last day of the pay period is the worst - because everyone has the bright idea to make up lost time at the last minute.

Every time the boss says just flex until the workload improves I want to say back just pay us unemployment and treat us like human beings with lives and financial obligations FOR A CHANGE.

Here's to another ruined weekend.  Soon we'll all be working 2 or 3 jobs, 7 days a week, and flexing at them all.  No other profession expects us to chain ourselves to a computer praying for work, and compete with one another for it to give them perfect TAT.  Flexing is bullpucky.
