Great advice. Is people stop working for them, maybe they will start paying attention. I wonder if .

their clients know they do not pay their MTs to do the work. You can bet that Rapid Transcript is getting paid by the client. What a ripoff. Just the fact that they have an F rating by the BBB woudl be enough of a turn-off for me. Crappy business practices.

I wish people would just stop applying for these low paying jobs!
That would force them to pay better or do it themselves. When I did QA for 3 years I was paid $20 an hour in addition to a line rate of 4 cents a line. I often ended up typing part of the report because there were so many errors. I would never work for 3 cents a line doing anything! Just my 2 cents...
Star Stop works better than express scribe. If you want start Stop, yea it is kind of sm
expensive. I wish they did pay their QA hourly as I think they would see better quality work, but they per line and it is higher than the other person posted.

I have never had a problem with management, so I am unfamiliar with what the other person experienced with management.

Pay is always on time (most of the time early). I like the software. I guess you just have to see if it fits for you.
Obviously, you were not paying attention...
I corrected myself before you could. BUT, you're the type that likes to rub things in another one's face. I REST MY CASE LOL HAHA
I am sorry. I was going to thank you for paying attention and doing a spell check.

Thanks

Question - have I not been paying attention or are there a lot of new companies advertising. (sm)
I think a lot of the older smaller companies were eaten up by the giants and maybe some new ones are starting.  Were these companies out there before and I just didn't notice?
When did they stop paying weekly?
I just spoke to them 3 weeks ago and they paid weekly..
Your opinion we stop paying taxes, buying

When I am renting, I am PAYING; when I'm working, THEY are paying ME. sm
Seems I should be running a credit check on the potential employer to see if THEY are responsible with their money, not the other way around.
Their ad says only 6-8 cpl and you need Start/Stop Player. nm

It has to be compatible with Start/Stop. You can
go to their website and see what pedal they offer.  I know they have a 2 pedal one and a 3 pedal one.

need advice MTSO not paying

My son and I have both worked for Eight Crossings in Sacramento.  For the third time they have issued paychecks that have been returned by their bank for NSF.  This has cost both of us considerable amounts as our banks then charge us for the returned check as well as any purchases or checks written on the mistaken belief that the funds were available.  Now they have been confronted on several occasions and are apparently refusing to make good on the latest bounced check.  What can we do?  Small claims court.  Can they be reported to the district attorney for bad checks, payroll fraud.  I know that this kind of thing has happened to others in the past.  Any information on you can share is appreciated.

If you use an Emdat Stop/Start foot pedal...please sm

I'm having a problem getting the Y-shaped proprietary Emdat Stop/Start foot pedal to work.  It was supposed to have been preprogrammed but wasn't so I redid the programming.  The play pedal (middle) and the fast forward (left) pedal are functional but not the rewind.  In addition, the control/shift/, (comma) command and control/shift/. (period) command aren't doing the job to slow down or speed up the voice.  The F-keys work, but after 30 years of using a foot pedal it will be almost impossible to make the switch to using key commands.

It's so difficult to type without using the foot pedal to be able to control what the dictator is saying and without the ability to use rewind.  I have gone over the instructions from the Stop/Start website with a fine-tooth come and have googled and read everything I could find but still no solution.  I've sent tech support an email, but they're not available on weekends.

Any help would be greatly, greatly appreciated.

Friend said it was atrocious there & you need your own Start-Stop pedal and software. Don't do it

I just found the downloaded voice file and used my Start-Stop

This post is true. Pay attention people. nm

Oh, so your not seriously looking for another job, just trying to jump start them into paying more..
Not sure that works because there are still way too many transcription companies using Escription that pay less so they probably don't feel to motivated to increase their pay. Although I do know a lot of MTs that have turned them down because of the low pay. Personally, I applied but I couldn't take the pay cut.
perhaps not paying for spaces does not start until your
MTSOs contract is renewed with that particular VA hospital.
We should all start asking up front "If you are paying under 9 cpl for 10+ yrs exp. you better te

LOL! Only 2 jets??? Wow, better start paying 3CPL

for VR then!  Oh, what you say?  That's next in the business plan?

snort...

My advice to you is start applying with other companies
Cobra is extremely expensive and you have to qualify for Medicaid.  It is usually for indigent people.  I think it also takes a while to get qualified.  If you get on with a new company and you currently have insurance, you usually don't have a waiting period with your new insurance coverage like you do if you let it lapse.  I've seen ads inviting displaced Heartland MTs to apply with companies.
Go back PT. I never want to stop working.
x
All of you should stop working immediately so that they can see how valuable
you are. Let them work it out then.
Y don't companies with employee and IC status stop the ICs from working
when work is slow? Is it because they don't want their FT employees to get enough lines to keep benefits?  The ICs can say when they will work, when they will take off, so the companies should do the same for them.  No wonder there is no loyalty to companies.
OMG!!! Can you people just STOP? Has it occurred to you
that IF they are hiring they are hiring for new accounts coming on? If you really worked there, you would know that they have brought on several new accounts and the worked has picked up tremendously. Give it a rest and go crawl back in your hole, please!
People need to stop looking to an employer to provide
insurance.   The rates these companies are charging the MT, you could get private insurance cheaper.   If you have pre-existing condition you don't have much of a choice though.   A local hospital system is going to stop providing insurance for retirees.  Other major companies are doing the same.
Great advice!
That's what I tell people too. Start out in-house, and when you're able to get through even one day without asking someone a question, "please listen to this for me", etc. you're ready to work at home.

Thinking that you're going to plop yourself down at the computer and be a functional money-making MT without any prior experience is really being unfair to yourself. It simply can't be done.

When you're working from home you're on production so a newbie who needs to be constantly looking things up isn't going to be able to stay afloat financially.

Plus, I liked working in-house. I wish more hospitals still had in-house MT's. It's hourly pay so you can take all the time you need to make sure your work is perfect and you learn so much.

I wouldn't trade that real-life experience I gained in-house for any MT correspondence course.
Great Advice
Point taken
Great advice....sm
So there's really a company out there that meets these criteria?
System great, pay good, everything great, but most managers from old Edix, problems, poor people ski
when you are out of work, you are out of luck. If you are good at brown-nosing, are tough enough to be without any self-esteem, and have maybe money coming into the household on the side in case you tick someone off, then you may succeed, for a little while.

Don't ever ask questions or have problems with anything. Don't ever have a problem. Don't think you will have any control over anything you do, either.

A few 'good' managers remained when I left, but the new ones were all from the old Edix, and were completely into numbers, cared nothing for individual MTs...if there is work, you BETTER be working. If there no work, you will hear nothing, no one will help you.
MDI people - a bit of advice

Call me paranoid, but it is for good reason.

You will get contracts or agreements to sign.  Read them VERY carefully and if anything is wrong, make sure it is changed before you sign and submit it.   Do not let them tell you that something is implied because as soon as it is sent in, they will forget that phrase.  Make sure you initial every single page of these agreements and keep a copy for yourself.  HR is a total mess and things really get messed up there from day one.  Check and double check your every pay check.  Those are even worse.   Be persistent because they do not like to answer e-mails nor make corrections.

If you need an answer from anyone for any reason, make sure you get it in writing - that includes your managers or leads, and co workers.   Things have a way of changing to suit their needs, and conversations can get very twisted very easily.  Best advice is not to talk to them about anything other than the weather, discuss everything else in writing.  Remember that anything that is said to anyone will probably go straight up to the top of the company within 2 days.

Easy to give that advice if you are an MT no longer working!
Stand up for ourselves?  Are you still working as an MT? Have you checked the other job markets lately?  Are you clueless?  Stand up for ourselves and there are up-teen people waiting in line behind us to take our jobs for less money!!  I think your opinion is a little cold and sounds exactly like someone who does not need a job or the money!  Save it.
Start Working?
How was I supposed to start working without training? I had no account specifics, and no one responded to my calls or emails. I assume that I'm not "hired" anymore.
When did you start working for them?
Are you on escription or ExtText?
When did you start working for them?

The moderators said stop correcting people's posts - not questioning medical reports -
The OP was talking about in actual medical reports, not on these posts - or at least that is the way I took it.

I too am concerned about the way medical reports are looking and being put on charts. It is ridiculous and dangerous!!!
I didn't start working as an MT until
my kids were teenagers. I never could've done it when they were little. I admire anyone who can, but no way.
x-press - it's not all that great - heard they are paying late these days also
nm
What a great start!
It is a GREAT account! I 6 hours of work, I had already done 1600 lines! I was totally amazed and all of my doubt was gone. All of the dictators speak clear, fluent English that is VERY easy to understand. The platform my account is on is EXT text. I am still learning how to use some of the features of it, but I'm sure that will come with time. My lead is VERY helpful and is always available to answer any questions that I have. I hope to be with KS for many years to come!
That's advice I give people and, to a person, SM
they say others have told them the same thing. The only way to get a job is take a remote MT course, which costs a fortune. Money poorly spent.

I can emphasize with young mothers who want to stay home with their children. I really can, because that's what I did. There simply is no future in this. I too am holding on until retirement in a few years. Five to be exact.

And these schools continue to tell people there is a future in MT. There isn't.
Meant to say..1st day of next month after you start working ...

Did anyone ever start working for PMT in KY? They have posted lots of ads lately. nm

Be glad you didn't actually start working there...

I was hired and during training realized what a huge mistake I'd made. The software is really outdated and complicated, and there was a lot of miscommunication and misinformation from the start. I didn't have a good experience with the gal who hired me either. Strange to be treated like a number before you're even out of the honeymoon stage of employment!

Be glad you didn't get officially hired - you saved yourself some time and money!

glad I didn't start working for them. It sm
was a mess trying to get set up so I figure the pay would have been screwed up too.
Oh, great. I'm about to start in 2 or 3 weeks.
The fun never ends. I think I will take a LOA from transcription for a while. I am going right now to get my poster board and picket sticks and post Strike on them to walk around my house and living room. Perhaps you will see this on the news. But really, since I left my job at the hospital, it has been one MTSO after another with the bait and switch biz. Ugggg. Maybe if I go on strike I can at least get food stamps. No kidding.
So far, I think it is great! I did not get to start when planned sm
due to delays from the account in getting IDs, etc., but now that I am doing it, I love the account.  All of the people I have dealt with are very friendly and helpful.  They are offering a sign-on bonus, so maybe you should give it a try again.
I find it hard to believe with this new pay plan coming out soon that they will be paying people
that rate and I understand all offices will be paying the same base rate and I seriously doubt they will be paying all MTs 9.50 base rate with incentive to get 2 more cents at 1600 lines. That is more than they are paying most now and have stopped giving raises.
benefits, pay, type of people????? any one have any thoughts/advice?
x
What do they pay experienced people to start? -n/m
?
6.5 cpl ???? They START people higher than that. sm
I think they start at 8 cpl or 8.5 cpl and they do raise up according to account and time with them, etc. I make 9.5 cpl with them but have been there a while. I average 20,000 lines a pay period. Radiology is great because of shortcuts and macros!
6.5 cpl ???? They START people higher than that. sm - RAD-KS
i may just apply!  6.5 is not good at 10 yrs of Rad experience.  I got offered 9 somewhere but as an IC and this company I dont think cares because I have yet to hear from the lead Transcriptionist about training i.e. welcome to the group etc... I am just confused about IC companies today..  At least with employee status, it is much more organized about when things will take place.
