How many hours a day did it take you

to make $900 when the work load is low?  My biggest concern is that I'm going to have to sit at my computer from 9 a.m. til 9 p.m. just to make my lines.

Sorry, I work 15 hours a day 5 days a week and 5 hours the other 2, when I come here I dont proof.
nm
Why would they give you a choice of 16 or 24 hours. Usually part time is anything under 37 hours.

That is extremely odd. Well they must have something up their sleeves. Well I will be working elsewhere part time as well as with MQ as I have no intention of sitting 40 hours with no work from Amherst and be expected to have 150 lph with no work. What is all this window of work time they said they would be giving everyone. I figured all along they would do away with SE. I have already been looking around and ordered a new computer  to send theirs back.

Any companies that allow line count rather than hours or less than 20 hours per week? (sm)

Wouldn't mind having something extra especially with Christmas and general winter expenses coming up but working a FT job and really don't want to do another 20 hours on top of that.

the day has 24 hours, I work only 6-8 hours, so, lots of time to post...nm
nm
Must we choose either 8, 16 or 24 hours. Why would they want someone only working 8 hours a week.
That is less than SE are required now.
MDI-FL. Approximately 7 hours a month x12 months =84 hours
And your PTO acrues from day 1. You are just unable to utilize it until after 90 days. They have excellent benefits.
You can have insurance at 30 hours with Encompass, 32 hours with eTransPlus. nm

10-15 an hour for 8 hours is better than nothing for 8 hours when there is no work.
x
You do not get PTO for 16 hours a week. 24 hours or more for the PTO. nm
:
That's exactly what I was going to say. Yes, I work at least 12 hours a day, sometimes 15 hours
to get all of my line count in because I have so many interruptions in my day.  There is no way I would tell my company this nor expect them to pay me OT that they never asked you to do. Unless, I was called by my supervisor and asked to work extra for OT, I would never just take it upon myself to work and expect to be paid.  If you were not authorized to work OT, then your not getting paid. Point blank. I do not work at TT, but I have worked at enough jobs, at home as an MT and otherwise outside of home, that all have the same policy, your paid OT when your asked to work it. It's it is just a case of not being able to get your required line count in 8 hours, then maybe your in the wrong profession or possibly just the wrong company/account for you. This just seems bizarre to me. Just tell yourself, your not getting paid for OT because they aren't approving it so don't work it. Again, if you were asked to work OT, told it would be OT, and then they ask you not to record it, I'd pitch a fit, but from what I see, you've done this on your own.
? 13.33 for 3 hours ($4.44 hours) am I doing it right. Geez!!!!!i
.
Why would anyone work 8 hours a week. The poster above said 16 or 24 hours a week.
:
40 hours
Well, I was told that since I am a new grad that I would need to work a 40-hour schedule so I can get "up to speed." They are flexible with the schedule, but I do have to let them know ahead of time when I will be working and stick to it.
hours
That's not what I was told. I even have to let them know at least 24 hours in advance if I change my hours for the day. BTW, I am a newbie. Since I am on 100% QA, this may be part of the reason.
She said IC must be 20 hours

I was saying that I hope not for IC to maintain 20 hours. I was told 4,000 lines. I was also told there currently is no part time so if you have a 20 hour part time position, which office?

I do realize that this is going to change with the new package as far as adding a part time position. However I was told last winter that there was only full time = 40 hours or SE/IC = 4,000 lines per pay period.

hours
I don't see ANY mention of those types of hours. I received a "Plan Form" which has a chart with 24 hours and 7 days in it. You mark which hours you will work. You don't even have to do consecutive hours.

My information states that full time with benefits is 39 hours per 7 days requiring production of 150 lines per hour.

Full time with limited benefits is 39 hours per 7 days, averaging 100 lines per hour.

Part time is minimum of 8 hours, but less than 39 per 7 days, requiring a minimum of 100 lines per hour.

This affords the Transcriptionist much more flexibility than the current methods.
hours
I've gone over my information several times and see nothing about 8, 16, 24, etc.

I see a grid that says and I quote: "Please place an "X" in the appropriate boxes to indicate your preferred schedule including your daliy and weekly total hours in the chart below." There is then a grid with 24 hours, 7 days.

I'm going to keep looking for the 8, 16, 24 -- perhaps its in the employee handbook which, interestingly, is from 2003 so I'm not sure it reflects these changes. That's curious.
48 HOURS??

FIRST POST, 10-11

LAST POST, 10-12

ISN'T THAT 24 HOURS TOPS?

getting in 8 hours

I have worked for Webmedx for a couple years now and can so totally relate to what you're saying.  It is very hard to get in a full 8 hours.  What I do is spread out my work week over 6 days and work a little less each day, but it still seems like I'm always struggling to get in the full amount of hours.

My line count has varied quite a bit but now that I'm FINALLY working mostly on just one account I can get   close to 250 if I really focus.  It is really a balance that you have to figure out what's going to be best for you as far as clocking out or not.  If you really want a kick-butt line count you probably will have to clock out for every little thing.  If you want your line count to be average or slightly better than average, after a while you'll be able to take a few breaks without clocking out.

When I do that my line count goes down to more like 180 as opposed to 200+.

IC hours
I am looking for a full-time IC that can have work assigned in a.m. and returned 24 hours later. Work day or night as long as completed work is to me at 24-hour deadline.
3.385 hours per pay
I keep track of it myself.
10 hours
I agree.  I swear sometimes I feel like I am typing my fingers to the bone and one night I tested it.  It took me 10-1/2 hours to get 1000 lines.
What hours are you looking for?

re hours
you make a line committment ahead of time, so say you could make your committment in 6 hr instead of 8, you're still good. But i couldn't say if they have a minimum committment...
PT hours
Does anyone know the minimum hours required to be a part-time employee with Transcend?  Thanks.
They do have less hours, but it is
considered flex-part time and if you work less than 24 hours you have to have a schedule that is agreeable to you and your supervisor, and some are requesting Thur, Fri and Sat only. Also no benefits go with this.
how many hours
do you have to work to get that 16K. I have always done 20K in 6-7 hour workdays. Did not even come close working for TT. That I-Chart program they use is ripping off MTs. I have been doing this long enough to know exacty what I make per hour. I left and would never do the I-chart thing again and I was offered three raises while there and it still did not make up for the loss in line count. No thanks!! Now I am back to making a min of 30 an hour or more. That is what an MT deserves!!
I really don't have a set hours.
I generally work afternoons and late into the evening. I never have really had specific hours. When I was first hired a year ago, I just told them I preferred second shift, and that was it. I guess it all depends on what they need for that account.
IC Hours

When you are an IC, are you supposed to work a certain number of hours per week? I was just offered a position as employee or IC and am not certain which would be best. It is part-time. Any input would be helpful. Thanks!

PT hours
Has to be at least 20 hr/wk as far as I know. Have heard from others that they could not get less than 20. Don't know if they're hiring PT right now.
24 hours...
I have only heard about the 24-hour matter very recently. This is not the point. There may actually be a problem with some emails, but I find it highly bizarre that only certain types of emails are not received.

The point is....for quite some time emails have been ignored by the upper manager. Back when the other upper manager was there, she ignored emails as well.

This board if for discussion and I and anyone else who wants to can post information for other MTs benefit. If someone asks about DSG on this forum and I see the post, I will reply with my HONEST opinions and experiences.

Being that the email matter was discussed in Atlanta, it is obvious that there have been complaints about emails being answered or otherwise it would not have been discussed at the meeting...right?

My thoughts on calling a person who ignores my emails: If the person does not want to answer my email then they sure as heck don't want to talk to me on the phone. If I have an urgent situation and have not received a reply in 24 hours then I will certainly call. Otherwise, I will just do without getting a reply just as I have done for quite some time.

MTSOs like to pretend that they don't know about problems and whine that they can't fix problems that they don't know about, but they all read this board like hawks. We are smart enough to know that the MTSOs know about all of the issues 'cause they read about them on this board. The only work on fixing the problems that THEY CHOOSE to fix.

If MTSOs don't like to be presented in a negative light on this board, then I suggest they get their act together. Nobody can tell me that emails have been going into space for the length of time that I have had emails ignored. Those who have been ignoring the emails know darned well that they have been doing so.

In spite of your post, I will continue to share my experiences with DSG on this board. If/when things improve at DSG, I will also be happy to post the positives whenever someone asks about this company.
hours
I work for TTS and I can usually work as much extra as I want.
Now its every 2 hours
And my supe told us thou shalt not put reports in pending in order to reserve them for yourself so others can't get them - grounds for disciplinary.
hours
The accounts I cover do allow me to have flexible hours but at the same time, they have a 24-hour TAT, so they have to be back within that time period, or I don't have a job. If I need to be out (and don't take advantage of that or you may lose your account), I can be without all the hoops to jump through with a national and worrying about losing my job. The hours vary but as above, they can be long one day and very short the next. All in all, I usually work FT and sometimes more by the end of the week, but just depends on work load.
I'm also in PA, about 3 hours from you (nm)
:)
Over 40 hours
Got myself a little over my head at work.  I'm kind of new to this job and I don't want to make waves but crazy boss is forcing me to work over hours of 40 a week hourly employee and don't want to pay me overtime.  Who's attention would I bring this to legally without jeopardizing my job?
I'm also looking for less than p.r.n. hours...
I'm looking for the same amount of work. I work outside the home during the day and do MT in my off hours.
20 hours
I believe it's 20.  I checked with them a few months ago to see if could possibly be less than 20, but it wasn't at that time.  Sure wish it was.
It is less than 4 hours per
pay period, 3 and a little change.  It doesn't start for new hires for 120 days, but I don't know if that is what your're considered.
a day has 24 hours, not 8 yours....nm
nm
Hours

I believe it's 35-40 hours a week, 12,000 lines per pay period minimum.

20 hours per week

I have 3 accounts and work about 20  to 22 hours per week on them including printing, delivering, cutting apart chart notes, clean up their dictation, change things, etc.  and I make betweem the three of them (5 docs, 2 surgeons, 2 IM's and one plastic surgeon) $3200 to 3400.   Guess I am lucky.   Work at a clinic doing electronic chart notes and get paid $15 hour plus benefits and put in as many hours as I want -- up to 20 and sometimes bring tapes home and make 1200 to 1400 there.  Not bragging but the accounts are out there.

Why don't you change your hours?

I thought you were allowed to choose your own hours.

Spheris' hours
I had a phone interview with them today, and they said that you can work a split shift. I too am needing a job and hoping to get hired with them. I just graduated from my MT training and need a job.

Good luck to you!!!

Flexible hours
you can pretty much set up your own hours (after training) with Spheris.  I work  a split shift through the week which accommodates my home life and I enjoy the time I have with my husband and children.  I still get in my 40 hours per week, OT from time to time, but if you exceed your line count per day, OT not really necessary.  Sometimes OT is mandatory, but this is very rare.  I have a super who is A1 and have never had a problem when asking for a bit of time off (of course, I make sure to schedule additional time if I am able to).
Flexible Hours?

Can anyone give me an idea of what companies offer the most flexible hours?  I can work fulltime, but my hours must vary slightly week to week.  I will always get my time in, but I am not able to commit to 9-5 or any "set" schedule.  I have 3 children and their schedules tend to change often.  Thanks.  I have 3 years of experience.

Minumum hours for FT

IMHO, I think if you type 15,000-18,000 lines per pay period, you should be allowed to maintain full time status even if you type less than 40 hours.

Transcription is not easy on your eyes. When you work in the office, you can get up, move around, stop to smoke if you are a smoker, etc. No one monitors that you are typing 40 hours. This should not change merely because you are transcribing at home.

MQ hours/lines
It's true...20 hours for part time and 4,000 lines in a two week period and for NON STATUTORY - must work full 40 hour weeks AND maintain 12,000 lines or be changed to SE and no benefits.
For me 3-5 hours..depending on
how focused I am that day, how many interruptions I have, whether the system is running slowly, etc.
hours or lines?
I don't get it-it seems like MQ (been here 6 years) wants to pay by the lines AND wants the hours. I used to have overtime on the weekend and even if I typed 6,000lines during the week they wouldn't give me extra for weekend unless the hours were also there. Who cares about hours? Make up your mind!!!!
hours/v/lines
Yes, you are absolutely correct. That is why they are going to the new platform DQS so that they can play big brother and watch everyone and monitor everything. They have control of everything, time, work, etc.,etc.,etc.
