I applied last year, was hired, and then

the recruiter had a family emergency and I never heard from her again. I got tired of leaving messages for her. Looks like this is the norm for this company.

Yes, applied and was hired
two years ago.  Medware is a very good company.  I applied on their website and took a multiple choice quiz.  I received a call from a recruiter that same day and was hired.  The software is easy to learn and my trainer was very professional.  I have had steady work for two years, direct deposit every other Friday (big change from my previous service) and find the insurance is affordable.  I think the Medware people care about their MTs and have always felt respected by my team leader, she is nice.  I would encourage anyone looking for steady work and on time pay to consider Medware.  With the incentive I am near 9 cpl and type around 13000 a pay period.  It was higher when I worked nights but I have since gone to dayshift.  My insurance cost is $17 a week, it is from United Healthcare.  Hope that info is useful to others.
I know someone who applied and was hired SM

by Spheris who didn't have to take ANY kind of test, it was weird, I didn't know they did that.  So it may not just be CS grads who don't test, it might be everyone.

I am guessing that they figure if someone really can't do the job they will wash out right away.

I applied and was hired by
lots of work.  There is low to no work though.  I've only been paid once so far but it was accurate and on time.
Did you get hired? Those of us that have applied many times
s
I applied a month ago, they hired me, said they would send
me the paperwork, but never did, so I took another job.  Even the interviews were confusing, so I may be lucky.
I applied, was called and hired for the account I was on at QT. nm
no msg
It seemed like I applied about a year ago and they said it would take about 1 month for the first
check to arrive. That was the turn off point for me. I could not financially be without a check for a month. I know others have no problems with that as they are a second income etc..and things may have changed by now.
They hired me last year for ops on Meditech.
change me to anything else. I absolutely disliked the Meditech magic. They tried to accommodate me best as possible, but I had another job too, and I could not do both because the Meditech was so clunky and I had to wait for work a lot. I left. After that, I tried to get rehired by Keystrokes for something else, but was put on the No Rehire list. So, if you want another type of software, be careful about how you approach the switch if you want to stay. I did go to Transcend for my main job along with my IC job and all in all it is okay. My account is US MTs but it is almost 100% ESL and because I am experienced I seem to get the worst of the bunch. Some days it gets me sad, but when I go to the store and see how much food and clothing costs for the family, I don't have a choice but to count my blessings that I have the talent and the job to do it. I just have to learn patience b/c some days it just gets to me!
Webmedx did a verbal test when I applied last year (sm)
The tester/interviewer was very pleasant and apologized for poor sound quality due to her using a head set (which she continued to use) during the testing. You could barely hear her and I had a bad feeling about the quality of transcription from this and turned the job down.

In NY or Georgia? I never heard back from the NY one when I applied last year. nm

It's been about a year since I had applied but I passed because of no holiday or PTO time.
Things could have changed. I thought it was a little ridiculous to offer employee status yet you were not entitled to vacation pay and had to take it on your own dime but they assured me that they were very accommodatingto vacation requests. I would guess so since they weren't pay for them LOL. Best thing to do is ask a recruiter. Again, companies change their benefits all the time, especially when they see something isn't working or they can't keep employees. There has to be some incentive, don't ya thing??
I was offered a job with MDI a year ago before I was hired at Keystrokes - SM
They told me that I probably wouldn't want to leave my other job as I probably wouldn't have enough work, and that the account they would put me on was VERY heavy ESL and needed unlimited long distance. That was a big turn off for me! I then accepted a position with Keystrokes right after that, and a year later I'm still glad that I did!
I just got hired too!! I had sent 3 resumes over a 3 year period and
gave it a 4th shot last week. I guess this time I got their attention because I told them how long I had wanted to work there and that I had tried multiple times. Needless to say I am very excited. I sure hope it works out, that I like my account and platform, etc. The only down side is working every weekend. However, I have come to the conclusion after this interview that I don't care anymore. I just want to stay put and be happy. I have been frustrated since 2006 when the company I worked for could no longer keep me busy enough. I have been trying off and on ever since and have gotten to the point of wondering if it was ever going to be possible to find a good employee position. I know I could as an IC but just not an option right now. I would spend several days researching companies, sending resumes to ones that seemed good, and then be brain dead the rest of the evening. I would get called by companies only to find out their line rate was degrading, or had a horrible platform, horrible accounts. It was always a disappointment somehow. Then there was this one company who blew me away with how disorganized they were. I don't know why anyone would want to work for them. I won't say who I am talking about but it is one of the larger ones. I gave them a chance 3 times because they had ExText accounts but finally gave up with the lack or miscommunication; it was ridiculous. So then I would end up being back where I started, nothing!

I want to know if any MTs out there have gone or are going through the same thing. I just want to stay somewhere for good and never leave until I retire on the beach that is :D I am anxious to get started because I so much want this to be it!!

Would love to hear from any current MDI MTs if they are happy.
I have 12- hour window and was hired 1 year ago. nm

I asked when I was hired over a year ago if I could use my computer....sm
And was told no; we have to use company-provided equipment. You pay for it gradually through withholding. Don't remember quite how much, maybe 150.
I have been there almost a year. You should call if you had a problem. I bet Karen hired you. sm
She's gone and I know she took all the files and did not return them but destroyed them, just being her pleasant self.
Howdy! In the last year, I applied and got offered jobs at a minumum of 10 companies
and not ONE single place checked any references - not 1.  Even the one who said they would, Diskriter, never made 1 call. Do you feel lucky??
I think it depends on experience, account hired for, etc. I was hired at .08 per line sm
but after 90 days went to 0.085 and then 0.09 about 90 days after that. I am now at 0.0925 and have been there a year. I have to point out that the line rate might not be the highest but I can verify my counts, have plenty of work, get paid on time and have a great manager. To me, leaving a bad national and the headaches that went with it was well worth the cut in pay I took. Funny thing is that I took a pretty sizable pay cut but make more money ?!?!
Can I asked when you applied? I applied a few weeks ago
and never heard a word and I have over 16 years of experience. I applied because I got a recommendation from a friend of a friend who loves working there..Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get anymore details other than that.  I'm all for even one positive at this point on this frustrating job search. Good luck to you though and check back with us to tell us how the interview went etc. Thanks
my first year I made 16k. Doubled that second year. Going on year 6 with (sm)

two local accounts I earned 23,000.00 and a national I earned 35,400... 58,400 this year.  Don't ask me how many hours, though, I really have no idea.  I'm pretty motivated.  (When people ask me how many hours I work a week I reply as many as it takes  I'd say 40-50/week.  I am also a fitness instructer and personal trainer, about 5 hours a week or so.  Decent money (sometimes under the table!) but mostly I just do it for fun and to be social and wear cute work-out clothes.

that first year was a rough one... but I consider it part of my education.

I'm pretty motivated.

No. I applied, but I've applied SM

at a lot of places lately.  I got an e-mail from a lady whose name starts with an M, but she didn't identify her company in the letter.  She had my resume on the bottom of her e-mail, so I know it's someone I applied with, but I don't know which one!!  LOL  I'm thinking it's The Word Pros.  Anyone else apply to The Word Pros and get an e-mail from M?

I'd love to hear information about them as well.

Just Me

Last year, there was a letter sent that told us what we earned the previous year. sm
In the past, it has been all or nothing; if you did not hit the lines for full time for the year, you did not get PTO. I talked to my lead this morning about a last-minute vacation and she told me that the yearly packets are going out in a week or so and that the new policy will acrue PTO by the pay period or month. I like that a lot better, but she also made it sound like they are upping the amount of lines needed to acrue PTO. I normally get between 15 and 20,000 lines per pay period, so I am sure that will be fine but I am worried about the periods that have lower volumes, like most of January every year.
Webmedx lets you carry them from year to year sm
You can accrue up to 140 hours (I think) before you stop the accrual process. Don't have to use it all in one year.
I would stick it out, most places are slow now through the end of the year every year (nm)

I said "about to be" hired... not yet hired, and ........
considering it just like I would consider any job.... I didn't accept the job yet and wanted to check out the info out there.
Last year $36K part time, going to make more this year full time BUT sm

I AGREE it IS getting harder to make money.  I used to make $24 very part time 10 years ago and now...well it is Word and platforms versus WP5.1.  I got 7.5 cents a byte line then and I get 9.5 cents a character line now.  That IS a huge different in point of fact.

OH I WANT MY WORDPERFECT 5.1 BACK!!!!! Bwaaah!

HUH? I just applied with them.

Thank you to all who applied.
Great responses and experiences. Thanks.:)
Thank you! I have applied but sm
haven't heard anything yet. Just curious.
Is that why you applied?

just applied
Good luck to you.  The test was easy.  I did 100%.
Just applied also and took
the tests.  Hopefully this a good company.  Still waiting to hear from Keystrokes.....  For being desperate to find transcriptionists for their radiology accounts, they sure take a long time getting back to you!
No, I actually just applied there myself. nm

Anyone applied to JLG? Ad says they need 100 MTs. (sm)

I have to assume they are growing big time to need this many MTs added to their work force.

I can't find any recent info on this company.  Any help appreciated.

Applied
I agree, there's nothing to lose. I already applied. As well as being an MT I also do insurance claims typing and it really isn't that hard. You just have to be able to type verbatim including um's and ah's. I get paid by the page now so to me it seems the pay may be actually better than what I'm getting now.
Anyone else applied to JLG? (sm)
Was told there were some changes and they would call and talk to me before the official offer letter was sent.  The lady I interviewed/tested with was very pleasant and I am guessing very busy.  Anyone else have input?   I know I can't be the only one who applied.
Actually, I had never applied to them...
or even heard of them before I received the e-mail, and I have been happily employed for 6 years for the same company, so it is a mystery.
When I applied with TRS the -
recruiter couldn't even explain how pay rate was determined.  He told me is personal life story, which I thought was very unprofessional.  I found a job elsewhere.
I just applied
I just applied there myself.  Do you know if the insurance is affordable there?  They sound like they have good benefits from looking at their website.
I applied too
I haven't heard back and at first thought the pay was low.  Then after I read the description of the work, it sounded too easy to get paid much more than that.  Let me know if you hear back from them.. Thanks.
I must have applied to at least 20 of
the wrong companies as well - looked for about 6 months - IC or employee - didn't matter - 25+ years experience MTing and 5 QA, and best offer was about 8.75 cents...with huge daily requirements to hit that mark - one offer for IC at 10 cents which never materialized - company folded. Lots of 7 to 8 cents per line offers - several 6 cents per line - needless to say, I stayed with my day job! To me, the 10 cpl and 11 cpl offers are like unicorns - I have looked and looked, but never found one and am definitely thinking they are mythical.
I applied....
for the pathology position.  Never heard a word!  I have 12 years pathology experience, so I know it wasn't because of lack of experience!
When I applied
They wanted this ridiculous itemization of where I worked as an IC over the past few years. Hello?

When I run into that type of red tape, I 'run'. (Because it's a sign of how they 'might' be if you were worked with them).

I don't have a problem providing a resume, and testing, but that was not enough to move the process along.
I have applied to several
I have usually always heard back.  But I don't go by the job seekers board and found out who  is advertizing for employment   I just read the company board and apply to the company I find has the better reviews.   It just seems to me that they are all always hiring.
I just applied also!
I have never heard of this company, but orthopedics is my favorite specialit7. Sounds like a new company to me.
I Applied
I applied with them over a week ago and never got any response. I have 7 years of MT experience which included dermatology, so I'm not sure why I never heard anything.
Have you applied?
Hi Little Bear,

Thank you. Believe me, I am thanking my lucky stars in heaven for this one. I needed the benefits so badly and they just seemed like a wonderful place to work. I will definitely let you know how it turns out. Have you applied there?

I got one too and just applied! sm
They said the list was from AHDI.
I just applied
and missed 2 on the test.  I do not know if that is good or bad.
Anyone who applied
for the jobs posted recently by p.r.n. Transcription or Phoenix Medcom heard back from them yet?  I applied the same day they posted the jobs, but have not heard back and yet I am a very well-qualified transcriptionist.
