I do skip over them because sadly it is the same thing.

Wrong line count and no work. It is just hard because once it gets going it takes over the whole page and it is hard to find anything else someone has posted. I have nothing against TT or its MTs, it just seems like they have some legitimate concerns and they want to be heard. I figured we just must have a lot of TT employees on here and they should be able to discuss things in their own forum.

Another thing.. sadly, at 5 cpl, I think I am on the high end of what is being paid.
I cant tell you how many companies with ES offered me like 2-3 cpl..and to that I had to respond GET REAL!!!
    Skip
Skip the ones that you are having trouble on, but if you do this according to escription you have to log out in order for the ones that you skipped to be circulated back through again. However, I do not log off until I am finished for that day so that I won't keep getting the same bad doctors.

However, I am currently doing about 2400 - 3000 lines on escription and I love it. THe doctors I have are easy. Also I only listen to the dictations once at a normal pace.

Hope this helps. What is your line rate?
    Why skip them??
Is there a reason you say to skip them?  I've been with them a couple of months with no problem.
    skip key?
Thanks for taking the time to answer my question. I am not seeing a skip key anywhere. I also see no keys at the bottom of the page. Sorry for being so clueless. Thanks again.
You can skip it then if it makes you ill. :)
    :)
    Skip the posts
What is so hard about skipping the posts if you don't want to participate in the chatter - the headings are pretty obvious for T/MDI....Just a suggestion. Why get high BP over someone trying to vent or find out more info.
Did it ever occur to you to skip over those posts? Duh.

    Yes, I correct absolutely everything I can...I can't skip
over crap and just leave it. The quality of VR work is always the same as when I am editing. I also could not send out crap work in good conscience. For me, editing is just faster, cleaning up a 100 things in a report, adding a period here, taking out the patient name, adding a the, taking out a comma and adding a comma one word over just is not nearly as time consuming for me as it is with typing. For editing, I have done an 18 minute report in 19 minutes, so that is 1 minute of editing and the rest is reading. I can't type an 18 minute report in 19 minutes, maybe 25.
Skip it! We are mad as hell, and it looks like some of us are going to take a stand and not take th
Don't like it, don't read it; it is as simple as that. We worked for this company for many years, and to have something happen like this, by someone who said she always looked out for her MTs is upsetting, to say the least. I have a house payment, kids college, etc. to pay, and refuse to take a job that will pay lower than what MDI paid. I refuse to be undercut again!
I skip up the negative posts - I just figure...
they are people unhappy with thereselves and apparently have no work. If they did, they would'nt be here wasting the space. Thanks for your input. I am sure we will find a good place for her. And I am sure somebody will not be able to help thereselves but to respond negatively to this. I just figure if you are unhappy, go somewhere where are you happy.
"Any time I see OSi in a field, I skip over it. "
    LOL
Is this rudeness really necessary? Just skip the post if you don't like it JEEZ.
    Nasty.
    Sadly...no.
Sounds like I may have to go back to the old way and type it all.
    Sadly it seems
I think this has been brought up before in previous posts, and correct me/forgive me if I am wrong, but as an IC,you should be able to set your own schedule -- its a catch 22 though, because we have to remember in this business that hospitals NEVER close, therefore, the companies do need weekend coverage and coverage into the wee hours of the morning as well. The main service that I work for just asks their MTs to do a committment of between 400-500 lines on Saturday and Sunday and they offer a weekend bonus as well. For those of you that have children activity committments on the weekends or other things, maybe you could talk to your employer about doing a split shift of sorts. Sorry for the long post
    Sadly, you are exactly right.
Time was when a good MT could pretty much write her own ticket. Alas, those days are LONG gone. I'm just hoping to eke out some kind of a living until I can retire.
Do you know what account she has? Hiring? That's practically a hop, skip and a jump away
    xx
Sadly, none are the best - still trying to find it myself. nm

Sadly yes :( - what info do you need? - nm

    You are sadly misinformed. sm
AAMT is certifying OFFSHORE MTs and allowing them to join the organization, thus, the name AMERICAN needs to be removed from the name.  Anyone in this industry who does not understand and acknowledge the negative impacting offshoring has had on our profession has their head in the sand.
Sadly it seems more and more that the better companies...
expect ICs to sign on with the commitment to work a Tues - Sat or Sun - Th. Does that seem flexible to you? Personally I think it's unrealistic to expect a person to want to work either every Sat. or Sun. I couldn't do it if I wanted to. Soccer on Sat. and church on Sun. It's tough.
Yeah, your posts just ooze happiness. I'll just skip over yours from now on..nm
    Bubbye!
    DEVENTURE IS NOT UNIQUE, SADLY.

I never worked for Deventure.  But, I did apply there.  During the application process, there were red flags that alerted me to the fact that I did not want to work for them.  It seemed to me that they were either extremely disorganized or downright dishonest.  Sadly, I don't think they are unique.  I've had similar experiences with many other companies during my search for the best job, which still has not been found.

But, you know what?  I've also observed that many of these companies totally rely on the fact that they can manipulate MTs to the Nth degree.  What was that word of wisdom that was once spoken by one of my favorite TV psychologists?  You teach people how to treat you.  Never was this as true as it is in the MT work world.  Of course, you can go bankrupt while searching for those who will treat you as a human being and not expect you to perform as a tireless, inhuman robot.

Even if Deventure WINS this case, I praise the lady who is allowing her case to be heard.

Not fair, but sadly how most places work
    nm
Sadly, its one of the oldest tricks in this business.
Always has happened to me, whatever mode of delivery for the work. In the days of tapes, I would get double or triple what I requested. Now its the same thing, thus why I don't take any jobs on the side now. I would always, always ask for a minimum amount of work, which the owner gladly agreed to, only to be bombed. Then the whole guilt game would start...Not for me anymore! Its so counterproductive in the long run - makes us resentful, right? Why not just give the MTs what they agreed to, right? Oh well!
With respect, the real irony sadly is

that if you've followed these boards for at least 2 years, you already had an idea of what was going to happen.  Several MTs made an effort here to warn as many as possible about the future loss of jobs.  Many of the posts were ultimately deleted.  I agree there is nothing gained from rehashing the past other than we must learn from it.

QT made a business decision.  They built a company, made a profit, saw more/better/different profit elsewhere, designed a plan to get from point A to point B and moved on - happens every day in the business world.  From all appearances, they did everything right for a while - had they not, there would not be this group of really great MTs struggling to deal with the loss of a job and the stress of starting anew.  QT had an option - they could let their dedicated MTs know what was going to happen and ask them to ride things out as long as possible or they could just squeeze every last drop from each MT and each account.   Too bad for the MTs but, after all, it's only business.  If there were lies, deception, half-truths, etc., this too is a part of the profit/loss bottom line.

The real irony  - and this is public knowledge - is that former QT owners have started new businesses and are bragging far and wide (see internet blogging) about their new employees.

Of course, finding a new scrapbooking job will probably be a little easier than finding and securing a new MT account.

                    You think?

I have a prediction (purely for entertainment purposes, of course) - Profits will not sustain the new venture/old lifestyle for very long and that within, oh 24 months or so, there will be a foot dipped into a new MT venture, since the old one was soooo profitable, and old habits are hard to break.

Sadly, most newer computers do not have the 9-pin port.
I have had to buy USB adapter to which some do and do not work correctly with this footpedal. Is this by chance an Escription account? Thus far, this is the only software that I have found which requires such an obsolete port. I bought a laptop assuming it would have the 9-pin port but it did not so I tried at least four adapter until I found one that works.
Sadly, they gave up on quality a long
The original CEO said in a meeting one time that the doctors won't care if a report has a few mistakes in it as long as it is back on time.  That was a big red flag to me.  Apparently it has come to be that way.
Sadly, I make $300 too much to get Food Stamps
I was going to bite the bullet and get them. So obviously I'm overpaid. Time to switch companies.
I agree. Sadly, it is absolutely true, nm

Sadly, it is ALL the employees of this one particular account and we have no backup accts.
Apparently, the hospital obviously wants the work first to go to the employees and we get whatever is left, which is slim to none some days. Very frustrating.
Debate is one thing, and posting is one thing,
but this is getting absurd. I think it must be the same person, otherwise multiples who cannot stay on topic?? Why can't you STICK with the subject? The subject of my post was NOT what your cent per line rate was or is - I could care less- and not how much money you made last year, this year, or in your life, but how silly the comment was that your cents per line rate means NOTHING, that its up to you - some fluff like that. That is just so silly. Again, working for the same company, same account, is one going to make more money being paid more per line? OF course! This is so frustrating and really makes me so tired of reading this garbage let alone posting. Its like a nightmare. And also makes me completely believe that the original company must pay peanuts.
good thing it is a temporary thing sm
because people with your attitude don't stay in anything very long anyway. Nobody has to listen to that crap to keep their job.

You don't know me either. you can say old fart all you want (when did 53 get to be old fart....too funny) but at least I am a valuable employee who can get a decent job!
Well for one thing, it would not be a professional thing
to do for any MTSO to have a board to do this as part of being an MTSO involves the ability to identify and hold on to confidential information. Even if a person is a job hopper (which in this business rather than go against you can make you a stronger better MT if you can do just about anything thrown at you), if a person is looking for a job, a company needs to have the MT's permission to contact their current employer. Where one has worked or has not worked is something that is very unprofessional being discussed on a board by MTSOs.

Being a business owner of any kind comes with it possessing what it takes to maintain ethical practices.

MDI-FL is not the same as it use to be. They say one thing sm
and do another. MDI-FL has their pets and it is so evident.
    One more thing

Do you know anything about Medical Transcription Services out of Texas. They hire graduates of Andrews and other schools.  Thank you.

    Oh-one more thing...

You never said how many lines you type an hour-- over 350 to 400 typing and 600 editing??

DIDN'T THINK SO--you don't know what you are talking about in regards to the problems a lot of us are having because it is probably better for you.  Even the Transcend CEO said it would be better for the SLOWER MTs.  I guess you are one of those I take it.  If you EVER get your line count up and then have it snatched away, then maybe you will understand what we are talking about, but right now you are clueless sweetie!!!....LOL

    That's the thing and
I've been watching this board for a few months now and whenever anyone has a good position as the the poster above states, they never post their real name or where they work. Hmmmm.
OSI did the same thing to me ....
It took them 2 months after I got an acceptance letter. Nobody knew what anyone else was doing and they would never call me back or answer my E-mails or anything, so I went elsewhere and boy am I glad I did
    Another thing...

I find it particularly pathetic that someone at Transcend is so willing to put my name out there, yet doesnt post their name.  I am sure that you are one to get on here and complain and whine about how you hate Transcend and are so unhappy and trash the place while hiding in secrecy.  Why not post your complaints on the forum?  To afraid?  It really burns me that someone could drag me into this thread while being a coward and not post their own name.

She had one thing that the other
management knew nothing about....RESPECT for the MTs!

And the sad thing about this...sm
they have some great accounts, great dictators...but they are pitiful to work for. Happened to me 3 times. When I told them their check was no good...her response was....funds will be available in 3 days. yeah right!!! I was stupid to stay on that long to receive 3 BAD checks.

Know what will happen, one day some of those MTs will get pissed off and they MAY just lose some of those good accounts they have...and that 8% allowance for spaces..yeah right, who does Deb Garrison think she is fooling? Does she really think all MTs can't "figure" that this is so wrong!!!!

She and her husband are a piece of WORK...
    Here is the thing. (sm)
Those who fail a test for employment at other nationals can be hired by OSi. So, how does that make you feel? OSi does not require a decent score to be hired....they are desperate!!!

I would not feel too superior working for OSi...I would be embarrassed!
They are doing the same thing at MDI-FL.
Overhire and no work for current employees.
Only thing I know is... sm
I've seen the recruiters name listed for at least 4 companies in the last couple years and have been misled to two companies she recruited for, I would be wary of any promises she makes.  Just my observation of the job boards, won't work anywhere she recruits for.
    And another thing (sm)

We all will make this profession or what used to be a profession what it is today.

We are selling a service.  If I hired an attorney, I would not ask him for a psychological test or a credit report.  I wouldn't ask a contractor that was doing some work in the backyard for a credit report.

When companies ask me for too much for too little, I blow them off.  They are already taking a lot of your pay.  For them to want you to be an IC, you pay for your own equipment and internet service, you give them an hourly schedule when you are supposed to be an IC, they want 3 references, etc., and now they want a psycological test?  Ask a contract attorney or contractor for that, they'd probably hang up the phone in your ear.

Yes, I want to hire you as my attorney, but I want to see a credit report, want to know exactly what hours you will be working and you will need to take a psychological test.  All this and I will pay you $10.00 an hour.

I think it is nonsense and they are not treating us like professionals and with the respect that we deserve.  And with that, good luck ladies and gents!

    Same Thing For Me

The same thing happened to me.  Got a call yesterday stating that I started the testing, but never finished and they would like me to work with them.  The reason I didn't finish it is that I got a pop-up screen that said I didn't have enough experience, but the caller yesterday said they stress the 2-year experience heavily and I don't have 2 years yet.

even my mgr says there is really no such thing
as straight 'verbatim'. We have to use a little common sense, and esp with obvious errors of dictation, we put what is right, ie, the he/she thing.

I work a verbatim as my primary account, and at times would LOVE to put it character-per-character verbatim, but it'd never fly and at least my mgmt understands that (at MQ)...
    Here's the thing.
I came to this board in a sincere search for info about companies. When I saw all the OSi bashing and name-calling and the tendency to berate anybody that might disagree, my immediate impression was that this was just a disgruntled employee taking his/her bad feelings out on an ex-employer. If anything, it made OSI look more appealing to me. I was relieved when the adm. finally took measures to get some proof because when facts are presented in an irrational, angry way, they're really questionable. Presentation is everything. If you want to express your opinion, why not do it in such a way that you're believable and don't come across as an unreliable source. What's so difficult about that? People want your honest opinions, but aren't looking to be insulted or read your personal vendettas. And now that I'm comfortably with a co. again, I won't be coming back to this board. It's been a very negative experience for the most part.
    One more thing to add...
Remember, we don't have time to give kudos for every good report you do too - most of us (I know at my company we do) we have an extremely high production level to meet every day, which I don't agree with because it makes it difficult for us to give much feedback and we only have time to say if someone is doing something wrong, etc. We don't have time to say on every report for someone who is training -great job on this one, good job on that one - it's just not the way it is.
One thing I can say for sure is that
medical transcription keeps recruiters busy.  One recruiter pays $1200 rent in Florida, not to mention other expenses.  She told me this herself.  Sounds like recruiting is big business more than MTs.  Another recruiter whose last name rhymes with day probably makes as much or more.  Her name is continually on this board.  Thanks for the freedom to post on this board.
