Focus is Indian run and you'll be editing Indian
work, so seriously doubt you'll make a bunch of $$ on editing.  99% of the MTs love KS.  If you'll just scroll down the page you'll see dozens of posts about them.
Had Indian manager at non-MT job long ago -
Indian clients with a small non-MT business I once owned. They were the pits to deal with. Won't take 'no' for an answer. If you have a difference of opinion, you may as well be talking to a brick wall. And if you have them as apt. neighbors, as I once did, they're rude and loud. The men seem to be self-righteous pr***ks. No love lost at all, between me and Red-Dot-Land.
They used to be Focus. Indian affilitated. nm

Isn't the Focus "tech support" Indian???nm
s
Neither. Focus is Indian, Sten-Tel has problems
paying on time.
First of all, the CEO of Focus is the same Indian guy who started the company... sm

He may have sold out to Nuance in March of 2007, but he still runs the show!  Second of all they are absolutely NOT bringing any accounts whatsoever back to the U.S.  That's just plain fabrication, deceit, lies, BS -- whatever you prefer to call it.  It just ain't true!  They just recently laid off the majority of the American QA staff and have forced the skeleton American crew they have left to go to production.

The lie that they are bringing work back to the U.S. was started and perpetuated in January of this year as a negotiating tactic to get the Indians to continue to work for peanuts instead of giving them more money.  When the Indians called their bluff, they hired a bunch of American QA people only to fire them at the end of April, beginning of May when the Indians caved.

And finally, they are an Indian run company and their QA and MT staff is 80% Indian.  I have the actual figures given to me by the Director of US Operations at Focus.  Focus employs 3800 Indians!  Does that sound like a U.S. company to you?

Oh, and the Director of Recruitment posted that 90% of their operation is in the U.S.!!!!!  He flat out lies.  He also says everyone laid off got a nice severance package.  Total BS!  Half of those laid off had to call the company and scream bloody murder when their checks were deposited as promised.  The other half will be calling tomorrow!

All of Focus is indian-based, except their corporate office in MA.
That is a smoke screen to make it look like a US based company. Imagine, indian MTs editing you an American MT with 10+ years of experience, and changing correct terminology to incorrect terminology. I could go on and on, but I won't.

All tech support is india-based, all QA is india-based, most mts are in india, except for the MTs here in USA working for them, all of their account managers are in India working the night shift (their time), day time (our time).

Focus has always had a bad reputation as an Indian company to name a few issues
so my belief is that they include that so it sounds like a more creditable company. JMO
Focus doesn't offshore to India, they are an Indian company
that offshores to the U.S.  They have an office front in MA, I think.
Just curious why Focus Infomatics is being allowed to advertise here. Totally Indian-ran.

I did speak with my manager. Work was promised. No work there when I needed to work.
I see the reports everyday too, but when I get work it is of bad quality, then there is no work unless I work diffrent shifts. Thank you.
Focus, focus, focus on your work. It's amazing what you can do! nm

I believe she said the account manager, someone at her work
I thought I read that the OP said that the person at her work was getting angry with people asking questions. That's who I meant.
I am never out of work. I would mention this to your manager. sm
They are hiring because they have a lot of openings and must not realize that you do not have work.
I am disappointed too, but then again, the new operations manager used to work sm

at Medquist, so obviously outsourcing would not be something unfamiliar to him.  I have worked with them for over a year, and I truly believed the family thing that was pushed, but it does not have that feeling anymore.  I need to talk to Tonya, but my gut feeling is to walk away, just scrape it off like something bad on my shoe and move on.

I'm sure you can find something else.  The great thing about this industry is you can always find another job.  It may not be ideal and exactly what you want at the time, but something to get by until the right one comes along.

Good luck!

You say you work for Webmedx, but in what capacity? MT? Recruiter? Manager? I am guessing not an

All of the Indian MT work I have
proofread is full of errors. I guess there are exceptions out there.
Most of their work is done in India by Indian MTs. sm
Tell your lead person you need more work and commit to it. They will work with you if you are good with a high accuracy rating.

Good luck - been there, done that, ain't going back ever!
I would rather work for an Indian-run company..just

DTS NO WORK - INDIAN OWNED
I am in the same boat with DTS, no work for at least 3 hours of my shift, and I REFUSE to chase work when I am not scheduled and have to work 24/7 to get work, that's what these companies want us to do so they don't have to pay us overtime. If you are scheduled to work a shift, and are an employee not an IC, and you are at your desk during those hours legally they are requiredf to pay you because you are ready, and available to work as scheduled. And if you have to work outside of your shifts, they have to pay you overtime if you work over 40 hours, which DTS does.

I work for DTS and have a great account manager, and I am on 4 accounts, but what DTS does is if they see work on the system, regardless of whether it's out of TAT or not their policy is to call in the troops to clear off the system no matter if you are working on YOUR shift tying to get you lines or not, they FRANKLY DO NOT CARE!

It's also a MYSTERY who owns this company, and with mysteries like this, that smells like an Indian company owns this company and they just do not want to own up to it because they know how most of us feel about the Indians and other offshores. I can't pay my mortgage or my internet this month, and I am tried of calling my creditors and telling them that I work for a company that has DTS AMERICA in back of their name but is most likely Indian owned. They have an Indian IT Department that you cannot understand (what's new) that can hardly speak English and when you call them, all they do is just repeat what you told them! I finally told my AM to tell them NOT TO CALL ME because (1) you can't understand them. (2) they are beyond rude.

I WILL not work for a company that offshores, and so far I have found 2 that do not, one that has been in business a while and is looking for good MTs for a new account Southern Transcription and another one that is looking for clinic MTs for a new account neither are voice or have any presence offshore. The second is eTransportal, and that owner was EXTREMELY nice, test very easy. The test for Southern is a PITA by Horizon, but they are a GREAT company according to all posts. I have been offered a position with both companies and will probably work for both and decide which one is for me. We all should be compensated for changing companies and learning all these new accounts and software platforms! That's another thing about these companies imagine how much money they make not having to house us inhouse. They require all this equipment, internet, more and more state of the art computers, but yet out pay is still in the dark ages... I know of NO PROFESSION where the pay has gone down and not up! I am making less than what I made working in the broom closet in a hospital transcribing radiology reports 15 years ago than I am now! That's just too sad..........if I could I'd leave this profession but I am not in a position to do so. Why anyone would pay thousands of dollars for training and those schools that are just a scam, I have not idea, what to make below min. wage? Hopefully, working for a company that does not offshore might make a difference.

DTS could care less about their MTS, they have an add, and I would encourage people not to apply because they overhire, and most of us are out of work every single day, why they don't train all of us on other accounts instead of hiring more people makes no sense to me, but then again nothing does anymore in this industry.
Yes, they are Indian-based and not nice to work for/with. nm

I edit Indian work and it's pretty bad
it is still cheaper for the company to pay me an american person.... to edit i suppose...but let me tell you, if i did not, they would not be able to print any of the stuff i edit

The quality of the Indian work is so poor, sm
that the company will eventually lose the accounts, thereby the US MTs lose even more work!!

As soon as a company offshores, it creates its own doom. (A chink in the armor, so to speak.) It will eventually come back and bite the company where it hurts--unfortunately, it's the US MTs who get hurt the most.

Offshoring is putting US MTs out of work, plain and simple.

When you've been around this business a little longer, you'll understand.

Americans edit Indian work, never Indians
I was asked to sign something that said I would not tell that I edited Indian work. I would not sign that. Indians cannot edit Indian work.
duh
Americans have to do it.
I know I made over $60K as a QA manager. An MT manager
I am told is less money but definitely NOT as low as $36,500. I would not do it for $36,500.

The majority that I hear and see (and many are not advertised) are around $45K. You are giving yourself away for that. You might be working for a company that I received an offer from at one time. Great people but could not afford to work for that kind of money. Way too low to be on call 24/7.
Anybody know about the quality of the work CBay out of Annapolis puts out with their totally Indian
based company. Just curious who does the proofing for them.
The same thing happened to me 2 years ago. That Indian creep gets people to work

for him. He gives this scale of how you are supposed to be paid, but it NEVER, EVER is the high range that you KNOW you are owed and deserve.  So, then your production and earning come up and they are WAY off base.  On top of that, he either pays you late or not at all.  This is fair warning...DO NOT WORK FOR CALLSTREET!

Probably not - I believe they are Indian run or Indian based company. nm

Go to their Indian website or other Indian websites

Keystrokes has great ortho accounts and a wonderful manager over the ortho work. sm
I have worked with them for 4 years and will never leave unless something drastically changes. I do not post here normally as it seems that there are so many negative people, but this is one I felt I could answer without being attacked.
I currently work at Focus...which
platform are you working on?  I work on Dictaphone.  If you are using Dictaphone I can probably help, but if you are using one of the other platforms I don't know.  You can contact your supervisor though.  I have found mine to be very helpful and pleasant.  :-)
Does anyone work for Focus doing VR?

Anyone who works for Focus doing VR, can you tell me how is your production going?  How many lines an hour are you able to produce?  Thanks

I work at Focus
I work at Focus - I've been there 7 months and was a new grad when hired so I'm just now starting to make money. I had to beg for a secondary account when my primary was slow but they did give me one so now I'm getting enough work. Everyone has been pretty nice to me and I love the editing too!
I work for Focus
I work for Focus and have posted many times about them.  They treat me very respectfully and are always grateful for any lines or schedule I do, as the work is usually always available 24/7, but it depends on what account they put you on.  I am a contractor, so I have a lot of freedom.   They have direct deposit and pay is always on time.  They use templates for some dictators, so you can get free lines.  The only problem for me is that they have a lot of ESL docs and it is sometimes difficult and will slow you down.  The work on my accounts is mostly VR, which is okay for me because I am not a super fast typist.  I owe a lot to Focus because they started with me as a Newbie out of school and gave me a chance.  As  a contractor, try to learn as many accounts with them as you can handle, just in case work ever runs low on your primary account.  I hope this info helps.
Do you work for Focus?

Do you work for Focus?

You must not work for Focus or
Their quality stinks!
I work for Focus
I work for Focus and have for the past 2 years. They have actually gotten new accounts lately and that is the reason for all the ads, probably.

Also, we were paid extra for working on Memorial Day, which is a positive start.

Other than the usual slow-down around holidays, I have had enough work at least 95% of the time.

They seem to be getting a little stricter lately about working your full 8 hour shift, but I would not wait around for work and would only check in once every couple of hours in that situation. Used to be more flexible about making up hours later on. Now it is more on their side - the MT is supposed to be flexible if there is no work, but the company won't be flexible if there is work and you want to maybe leave early one day. Although I have to say I have only just begun with this new stricter policy and believe there is leeway to be worked out with your TL.

Well, just don't go to work for Focus. They don't treat
their staff very well, they are all Indian including your leads, and there is at least one guy there who is very male chauvenistic.
FOCUS WORK VOLUMES

I just wanted to add that I find plenty of work if I work between 5pm and 11pm, eastern time.  If I want to work during the daytime, say between 8am and 5pm, the queues are often empty (3 of them).  There was one time that I logged in at 4am, and I found the queues all empty at that time as well.

Good luck.

Anyone work for Focus Infomatics?

Good afternoon all you hardworking finger flyers!

Does anyone have any information, good or bad, about Focus Infomatics?  With what's all going on in transcription and the flurry of mergers, etc., it's hard to know what anyone's name is anymore!

Thanks for passing anything on you might be aware of, you know the usual, pay on time, SR, QA, upper management, etc.

They do not send work to Focus...sm
or get work from Focus. Please get your facts straight before making up stuff on these boards. If you think you can prove otherwise send me your information.
Anyone work for Focus Infomatics
What is the pay range for MTs and editors? The pros and cons.  Any info would be appreciated.
Does Focus have a consistent work?
I've been hearing good things about Focus and just took their online test. Is it true they have sufficient work to keep you busy and will give you one or two accounts and not a jumble of different accounts?
How long ago did you work for Focus?
Why would a company keep wasting their time posting ads if their intention is not to hire the people who apply?

I work there now and have every other MT who works on the account that I work on - listed on my IM. There is not a single Indian name.

I have an American team lead and they will soon replace any remaining Indian TLs with American TLs.

Obviously, a lot has changed since you worked there.
Focus Infomatics...low work load

I have been working for Focus Infomatics since January....just trying to build up my experience.  Hard to make money at this at 8 cpl and often no work load whatsoever.  Anyone know anything about them?

I work for Focus part-time
I have worked for Focus for the last nine months. I am part time by choice.  I have always been able to work out any problems that I have had with them. I told them from the beginning that I had heard negative things about their QA and how things were managed.  I was told to let them know if I had problems. I have and they have always taken care of them professionally.  I have always received my pay on time. If you wish to email me, I can tell you the names of that I have dealt with and maybe you can get in touch with them.
Focus infomatics... Good company to work for?

I am considering accepting a position with Focus infomatics.  Does anyone have information on this company? Their website is pretty impressive.  Any comments would very much be appreciated. Thanks.

Focus Infomatics uses Indians to edit Americans' work
They do make mistakes. But if you point it out to them, at least they are willing to learn, they don't get all huffy like Americans do, and the Americans should have better grammar, etc. in the first place!
Focus offshores 80% of their work to India. And I heard they are headed
