Sounds to me like the hospital wants the benefit of having an inhouse transcripionist but does not want to pay for it - I promise you they are paying Transcend far less than they would be paying you if you were an actual employee. If you have any other options for employment, I would tell them they could hire me or else. You are having to type right there in the middle of everything, probably having other employees or even nurses asking you for reports, etc., and I assume being paid by the line. I just know I would not do it. I hate the way that hospitals have decided they do not need their transcripionists anymore - it's not right. I have been employed by two different hospitals at the time that they decided to outsource, not giving a crap what happened to us, even those of us who had been there for nearly 20 years.
