Go to the IRS website and print out the excellent info they have about ICs. Then take it to all interviews. I have a side job in addition to my main job and was asked by the small side job to commit to certain hours. I very sweetly reminded them that my accountant had assured me that an IC could not be held to hours. They agreed and backed right off. i think sometimes smaller clinics or companies might not know the IRS rules or, worst case scenario, that might know what they are doing is not correct but all you have to do is call them on it.

        Exactly right, but the whole idea of being - an IC is to not work a shift.
