Company begins with a "T"
This woman has forever subcontracted work out under the guise of hiring for her own company.  You end up making significantly less than you would working for the company you're typing for.  Seems like this should be illegal.  Don't know how she is getting companies to go along with this.  I guess its the having no respect part of companies.  I know of a couple of companies where the supervisor also gets a cut of the lines that are produced thats why perhaps they crack that whip because they know its going to affect their pay.  This just gets more and more ridiculous and Im thankful I don't have to type. I will have to say I am so glad Im with a company that I believe is totally on the up and up with MTs.  I won't give the name here because I will just be accused of trying to recruit which I am not.
Do you give it back with the blanks filled in?
I send things to QA and never hear back until I prod and prod.  This is a waste of my time as well only to hear from QA don't know, we sent through with the blank.  If you are filling in the blanks, then you should be giving it back to the MT with the mistakes filled in and also a way for the MT to relisten.   JMO.  Is this MT doing the same doc or is she being thrown new ones to learn each day?  As far as the timeframe for when will she learn, there are a lot of variables to that question in my opinion.  Sorry to sound sort of like huh?, but you seem like you are sort of complaining about the job you chose.  If you do not like QA, why not try going back to being an MT.  JMO.  Good luck with the MT though..
No it's a company in California begins with a
Everyone for the most part is friendly and helpful.  It's just this one QA person who is rude and demeaning.  I've been at this for over 15 years now.  I get reports back with blanks she is not able to fill in but a report filled with commas and changed words that I KNOW where not dictated.  When I questioned that I'm not given any explanation on how this was possible when I know it was not dictated.  I think that is what may have triggered the attitude.  I've already started looking so I can be prepared when I've had enough.
blanks are fine, just don't guess. hopefully others left the same blanks.

I think they do hire PT, but at a lower line rate (nm)
x
Are they going to hire you at that rate? Good Luck. nm
.
They usually don't hire anyone back thar leaves before sm
probation period
Yes - it's the 2nd largest national, begins with S. :) NM

Does anyone know the name of the MT service in Austin, TX? Begins with an R.

Are you by chance hired for the new acct which begins sm
next week? Aren't you working on the staging platform now (and being paid hourly) until that work goes live?
Each journey begins with one small step.
If one hospital/MTSO sees the folly of VR, the lawsuits, etc., they will stop this NONSENSE.  Thank you for your validation of my efforts.
So give her the couple days before the kicking begins. n/m

Would a national company hire me?

I have several years experience working for a very prominent healthcare institution doing acute care, clinic, and hospital dictation in every specialty and subspecialty imaginable.  We were never assigned accounts, so my exposure to all of the specialties and dictation by hundreds of physicians at our institution was extensive throughout the years.

Over two years ago I had to take employer-paid disability and have yet to return to work.  I have hope with my latest treatment that I will be able to return to work soon and have contacted my MT department head, but did not hear back.  Although my reviews were always exemplary, my attendance did suffer slightly prior to my taking disability.  I say slightly only because I still attempted to work a portion of each day even while ill and the actual amount of days absent was not that high; however, working at a healthcare institution our attendance requirements are necessarily strict.

If my department head is unwilling to take me back into the department, I don't know what I'll do.  I love MT, have great skills, am highly accurate, and don't want to give up on this career.  If worse comes to worse and a position will not be available for me when I return to work, do you think a national company would hire me with over a two-year lapse in my work record?

Does anyone have any advice or ideas in this regard?  I desire to stay with my current employer, but don't want to leave medical transcription.  Thank you.

They only hire ICs. They are a nice company.

Re: Axolotl: Do they hire for QA within company or....sm
can someone apply there for it. Looking for PT MT/PT QA. Any info appreciated...............
It is an Aussie company, but they do hire in US MTs.
nm
Not all companies hire PT. My company
does not because of fees they have to pay for rights to programs, etc.
No company will hire a newbie if they can't spell better than you can
nm
Not me. I have been with the company for a while but every time they hire they overhire so
obviously that affects all of us when they do this.
Who then will hire for part time and is a decent company?(nm)

Gerri, I worked for a company as management that had would hire
a lot of American transcriptionists just to get the ball rolling on new accounts, and little by little would send it over to India. The company would have me send a little bit of work to India, have it QA'd on our side, and send it to the hospital. The better the Indian company got with the account, the less work we would give to the US transcriptionists. The nasty emails from the US transcriptionists got to me after awhile, along with my conscience, and I quit for the company.
Just thinking it may be nice for others to know the name of the company IF they happen to hire
again in the future.......
Can anyone tell me if Administrative Assistants is a good company to work for and if they hire IC
or employees.
Does your company pay all MTs the same rate?
Which company?
Rate this company
Does anyone work for InScribe???
rate company
test
Our company has a set hourly rate that
you are paid and your time accumulates just like any other job. 1-5 years we get 2 weeks plus holidays, 5-10 3 weeks, over 10 years 4 weeks.
Very high turnover rate at this company (sm)
You have to ask yourself why do they lose so many employees. This is not an MT oriented company. I would say that they constantly advertise because they regularly lose MTs.
IC is the one who offers a rate and the company accepts
x
Poll: What % of base rate does your company pay for ME?
MQ - 70% of base rate for ME.
My company ups the line rate for several months SM
while we learn. Then on our own. This all really relates to how good a system your company has and how smooth the progression is with your account, which also relates to how good a supervisor you have. Mine is very good.

I'm trying to understand, is everyone upset over VR or drop in pay due to VR? I assume it's the later.

I would really say to at least give it a try. I'm not management.

I'm not even sure how much longer MT will be in existence. If you want to ride this thing out, get used to VR.
No - the company gets hit with back SS
Of course, I'm assuming that the IC has been filing her taxes, etc. as required for people who are self-employed. If not, that's a different issue.
Great company with good rate offer
nice people in the management too.
The company stinks and if you look back through
the archives you'll be hard pressed to find a good post about them, and then they have to be from someone in management.  Even people that didn't listen to our experience and went to work for them are living and regretting they didn't listen.  Absolute worst company there is.
Company board is back. NM.
//
All of them, its not the company that holds you back
x
And this time the company bit back, right?
I saw these posts and they were out of line. It was like the OP was trying to pick a fight with them. I hear the OP not saying anything else now, probably for the best. I do not blame the company. There were scads of people on here that seemed to love to join in and bash them. What goes around....
Worked out to a pretty good hourly rate, just not the right company for me. nm

I am looking for a company where I can work as an IC for good lph rate part-time...
I am needing to supplement my income, as I am the sole provider for my family due to hubby recovering from illness.  I would like to find a good company with good pay (9-11 cpl), part-time employee status or IC, hopefully providing all necessary equipment.  I have been searching the archives all day and have not come up with any other than Webmedx, but it sounds as if I would be doing mostly ESL to make the higher lph.  I could possibly come up with the PC if I needed to.  I have 8 years acute care experience.  Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.  If you don't feel comfortable posting, I have included my e-mail address.  Thanks much in advance for all your help
I left MQ after years and went with a highly rate company on this board (sm)
my account has dried up and I am constantly out of work now...same with backup account.  I like the company I'm with and don't want to leave but I HAVE to have a steady account.  I realize there are slow times of the year but on this account they have overhired and now it's low a lot of the time.
The hospital may pay a line rate to the VR company based on usage...nm
xx
Has anyone ever gone back to work for a previous company?

I was just wondering if any of you out there had ever gone back to work for a company that you had worke at before.  What was your experience in doing so?  Is it worth looking into?

Thanks for any help.

I agree...I found this company to be very back and forth...
when there is work, everything is great...but when there is no work and you want more, somehow they can't come up with any and make excuses as to the lack of work, et cetera...I moved on and am happy I did... I know people who are happy there so to each their own, this is just my own experience...good luck!!!
They are a very good company. I went back and am happy I did.
Not cheerleading just being honest.  They have always treated me extremely well.
webmedix- I have 25 years exp., was offered low rate of pay. Heard it is a good company. nm

Blanks
I've left blanks before in tests if I was not 100% sure, and it has never counted against me. They may have included difficult areas in the tests intentionally to see how you wound handle it. Good luck. I found KS to be too disorganized for my taste.
If I see blanks like that...
I provide the website I found it from and tell him/her to do the research...if I can find it easily, so can they...
If your company is never out of work or always back-logged, can you state the name? Thx. nm
,
I went to another company that offered "much more" came back to Spheris because
nm
It is the real deal. Back to not every company suits every one.
I have been there 2+ years and never had any problems. I make good money, have a good account, don't get bounced around, and have good management. The recruiter is very good to try and answer your questions or you can email me and I will tell you what I know.
Awhile back, someone posted about a company that considered sm

30 hours a week to be FT with benefits.  Does anyone remember the name of that company?

Thanks so much.
