Keystrokes question RE: vacation time.

Is vacation time offered only to FT employees.... or do they offer it to PT employees as well?

Thank you.

DVHP gives vacation time to part-time people. nm

Can you take vacation time and holidays
off? Can you work part-time or do they only have full-time MTs? TIA
They have NO paid sick or vacation time
You will likely not find any full timers who are happy there.
I think doctors are taking vacation this time of year
I've seen this in the past in the summer.
When MDI-FL pays vacation time, is it hourly rate or an average

Please notify the supervisor or QA (sm)
Many of us were QA'd for weeks because they had the luxury of taking the time with us then.  This is a good thing.  They will eventually take care of all this, but if it is a priority, which I think this is, it will be taken care of pronto.  Just do it.
I have the same situation you do and I, too, notify -
out of courtesy. Like you, I don't HAVE to, but I do out of respect not only for my MTSO but for the acount and the patients - all of which I do not want to lose. It's not all about what I want.

I understand exactly where you are coming from.

OK thanks. Can I give you my email somehow so you can notify me if/when they are? (nm)
x
I would definitely notify management. Also, on this account you really can't tell
if it's in QA or not because there is no upload status code so I would assume that it is.
I think you should check with your employer. It seems to me they would have to notify you,
because I think they would have to offer you COBRA, which you probably couldn't afford anyway as you would have to pay the full premium, but it seems like you would have to be notified that you benefits were being terminated.
Simple solution: Notify the IRS.

x

Yes, supposed to notify help desk
Every time we run out of work (or at least the first time each day) we're supposed to let them know, because it helps them document workflow issues.  So if OP is always out of work at certain times, her supe would be made aware of it through the help desk, and see a pattern.
If you can't do it, notify tech support. Maybe there is a problem.

Has payroll come in-house already? They said they would notify us when this happaned.
Is our HR and payroll oursourced still?  I have not heard that TT has taken back HR and payroll in the TT office yet.  Has anyone heard this?
Notify Wage and Hour Division in your state....

who think they are qualified because they
were nurses, medical assistants or just have kids who are sick all the time and know all the medical/lab terms! Deliver me!
I am not qualified to
set a rate of pay for an MT who does try to do the job properly. I can tell you this, that googling words should only be used to verify and existence of that word. You should then check a medical dictionary or website for proper spelling, pl., singular, etc.  I have not been doing this for long, but I am determined to become good at it. I spend a great deal of time to research a word only to be frustrated when I can not find it. The positive is that where I am employed I do receive feedback. Sometimes it takes a day or so; but, when I receive it I read it all the way through, make notes, file it away for future reference all on my own dime.
maybe you are over-qualified!!??
x
consider yourself over-qualified, and
lucky that you didn't end up working for them! It may have been a blessing in disguise!! act like a duck, and let it slide off :)
You wouldn't be a qualified IC if they did.

my qualified opinion

is the *conspiracy* theories regarding other companies is much more far-fetched than the simple fact that not everyone had a good experience at KS.  Allow others to state to their experience without feeling  personally attacked - it is part of being an adult - the world is not defined by you and your *feelings* - tears and hysterics aside.

about Keystrokes. Do they have a lot of radiology? Do they pay on time? SM

Do they offer direct deposit?  How often are you paid?  How about benefits?  Anyone who can shed some light on this?  Oh, is there plenty of radiology work and how flexible are they?

Keystrokes - when they say full-time- sm
Can someone tell me what their full-time entails?  They say they are flexible with hours but you must hit 1200 lines?  Does that mean you must work 8 hours or are you done when you hit the 1200 lines?  Do you have to let them know what hours you will be working?
and is qualified for not much more than being a greeter at Walmart

MTSOs, on a scale of 1 to 10, how qualified are
I'm just wondering if you are able to hire most of the people who are applying, or if there are a lot of underqualified MTs out there.
I am QUALIFIED to make my statements because....

I worked with these people for years and saw how they treat others.   It means absolutely nothing to people in the managment of SPI to fire people or lay them off or just take your work and send it to India or Manila.   Don't think for one second that your job is safe.    They are all about numbers...Its a numbers game...meaning revenues.

The Philippine Telecommunication company did not get to be a company worth over $100 billion US dollars  by paying labor to US employees.   They know that by taking US jobs and sending them to India or Manila will increase their profit margins 25-35% minimally.    Don't think for one second they will not do this.

The Indian companies are much better than they were.   The Manila location has finally gotten it right.   They will be able to transition your jobs smoothly without compromising quality or TAT.   THAT'S FRIGHTENING TO SAY BUT TRUE!

They have also geared themselves with the strongest voice recognition product on the market.

So, let's take a look at the overall picture:

1.   People resources available offshore.  YES...thousands.

2.   Ability to transition and carry out smoothly.....YES

3.   Voice recognition geared to take over.....YES

4.   Qualified editors in Manila........YES

5.   Production MTs in India......YES

6.   Large hospital organizations not afraid to offshore......YES

I dont know guys....what else does it take to paint the picture for you.    You are all smart people....figure it out!

Because they don't hire qualified ACs in the first place
They try to promote their friends/relatives and when they find out they don't have real management skills they replace them with another friend/relative.
If you have to apply you aren't qualified

Does Keystrokes hire part-time? nm
nm
I'm new to Keystrokes and the pay has been early or on time. Can't complain about that! nm

Keystrokes - do they hire part time?SM
If they do, how many lines and do they have acute care or clinic and do you have to work weekends?  Thank you.
I have a nice one too, but qualified for it 4 years ago when I did well as an MT at a hospital.
each and every month. I have invested so much in this car, I don't see how I can give it up... lots of working with the lender, etc. They don't understand about outsourcing hospitals and services, they don't understand about not making rent or car payment. They only care about breaking legs if you don't make a payment. So I keep in close touch with them. This way, I have my leg available for the foot pedal, so when I do have work, I can to pay the bill.
You'll see this poster every time something is said or asked about Keystrokes. sm
He/she has a bitter attitude about them but never provides specifics. I think everyone just ignores this person. I know I did, and I am glad as I love my job at Keystrokes. It did take a few weeks to get started but they were waiting on my ID from the hospital. It was worth the wait. I have been there 4 months now.
Maybe in your case. As for me, I have many years acute care and am well qualified.
x
The payroll dept isn't exactly qualified. There's no accountant on staff. sm
I wish they would just let ADP or something similar handle it. So many things are incorrect so often, taxes, PTO pay missing, etc.
I agree with Denise...I have also only been at Keystrokes for a shor time but I love it...it already

beats the company I was with before, and I was with them for a year-and-a-half...I can see if someone wanted an opinion about a company and you had a bad experience to share, but not just to get on here and say how horrible a company is...move on and good luck....

I just started with Keystrokes full time and am on a Meditech account. sm

I would not call it my favorite platform by any means -- I think it is rather slow and cumbersome -- but with the addition of ShortHand and getting used to how things are done, I am picking up speed and hope to be at my normal level soon.   One of the pluses to Meditech is that you can access the patient's chart and see other reports dictated, plus lab reports, x-rays, etc.

Gosh.. really a "former" insurance clerk. I cannot believe you qualified for such a honored po
Wow, an insurance clerk. What kind of education do you need for that. I feel your best suited for a position that would include working as the spelling police. Some people.. You should get a life!
There are so many hits on the job board for jobs that I wonder if people are qualified that respond
or just send in a resume if they are not.  Would be interesting to hear from some of these companies what type of response they are getting.
Is Keystrokes a big company or small? I am thinking of applying. Time to leave the Q. nm
The sad thing is that I do not even think they would notice if I left. I am a high producer but not very vocal and they seem to have forgotten about me :(
Keystrokes is not for sale at this time, and there are no plans for selling in the foreseeable futu
This is a rumor started by someone for absolutely no reason. There are a few companies out there who have approached Keystrokes about selling and have been turned down. A few have been very agressive and do not like to hear the word no.

The company has been growing steadily for the past 10 years and has agressive growth plans in place for the next 5 years.

If you have any questions, contact one of the owners or member of the management team directly. They will answer your questions.

This is just another example of someone trying to stir the pot.

Not every company is for sale, at any price. Although that may change in the future for the owners of Keystrokes, right now they enjoy growing the company and improving on what they have built. It will be several years before the idea of selling would be entertained.
Vacation for SEs
Anyone know what is the procedure for taking vacation(s) as a MQ SE? How far in advance do you let them know, do they have a problem with it, etc.? Is there a limited amount of days you are allowed per year?
Vacation

All MQ offices seem to operate differently, but in mine I have had no problems.  I usually give several weeks to a month's notice, then I also remind them a week or so before I'm off.  I have never had any problems whatsoever.  I took off about three different weeks last summer over a 6 month period.  Plus, right after I was hired I had to take off for an already planned vacation and they didn't say a word.

I don't know the answer as to how much time you are allowed to take off.  It would seem to me being an SE (basically an IC) that legally they could not limit your time off.  Of course, that doesn't mean they won't complain about it.  I think if you give a few weeks notice there shouldn't be a problem.

I have vacation and PTO. I take off when I need to. I
usually take 10 days off in a row and then long weekends various times throughout the year.  I have even taken a day off with just 1 day notice when I was just needing a break.   I don't take advantage and I have about a month of accrued time now.  Sometimes if I'm taking off on a Friday for a long weekend I'll work extra during the week, or get up very early Friday and work, so I get my lines in, though I'm not asked to.   I think my company sees that so they don't hassle me when I take off.
Someone needs a vacation and bad!

Vacation? What is that?
:-)
Thanks! Im on vacation
until mid next week. More later!
Some MT's on vacation right now, but
But sometimes there is not even work on weekends.  Yuk!  Going to get worse before it gets better at Transtech -- too many MT's hired now and slow holiday period coming up.  Some of the accounts are only overflow accounts and temporary accounts that TT picked up recently, so look out for the bill collectors at the our doors around the first of 2008.
No, she is still there but has been on vacation. sm

If this is the right account. Actually, I think all the leads are there still and a few have been added.  ***Edited by Moderator***

Regarding vacation and PTO,
do you mean they are separate, 6 vacation days and then 1 week PTO, meaning 13 days total? and how do they differ between the 2? Thanks for your help.
