No, MDI does not provide computers, nor are you technically an employee. You are what is called a statutory employee. (Which gives you the benefits of being an IC in terms of setting your own hours but relieves you of some of the SS burden, etc.) My CPA says it is absolutely the best of all possible worlds in terms of tax deductions. Kiki, is it possible that you can get a computer on a payment plan at some local computer store? Perhaps a small loan from your bank? I know that a computer costs some dough, but if you are going to complete in this business in this day and time, you cannot NOT afford to have one. I wish you the very best of luck in getting a computer and in finding the job that meets your needs.
