No sour grapes. They DO outsource to Trinidad. Openly on the net. Research it and you will see.

No sour grapes here...
Not to be disrespectful, but you must have worked for them when it was ran w/o Transcend...because it changed, believe me. Since I have been there, they have gone through at least four acct. mgrs. for their radiology. And I have sent, on several accounts, documented proof, with times of dictation, release, assignment, etc., and nothing was ever done. And as far as my performance, the only reason I am still with MDI is because of my pay, which reflects my experience and the fact that I have yet to have a report rejected or sent back for an error...I assure you there is no mud slinging here. I have documentation to back up every accusation made. I do not work on the account Rhonda is currently working because I refuse to work w/ her, not because I was booted, as you put. As far as the misery goes, it DID move on--to other accounts where I did not have to work w/ RJ.
No sour grapes here???
Having been the administrator of one of the largest radiology transcription programs on the east coast, I am having trouble understanding why you and your husband, with such a demonstrative level of professionalism and success in your area of expertise would be so put off by someone simply expressing their happiness with their work. Doesn't seem to make sense in my experience. Happy, successful people normally seek out and support happy and successful people. Toxic people, on the other hand, tend to seek out and support toxic people. Good luck in that life long endeavor.
Re: Sour grapes
That was a very interesting post by Mr. Rooster. I couldn't agree more.

Stop being a cry baby and grow up. Your anonymous post was seriously undermining and nasty and your complaints have fallen on deaf ears for a reason. My guess is they are inaccurate. You mention you have documentation, etc. It is obvious, your complaints are not credible.
Sour grapes, about having a better job?
Maybe I do not get your drift, but we all came out from under a thumb held so tightly we could hardly breathe to go on to better jobs, no constant harassment, no one breathing down our necks, no changing of the rules day after day, no picky-picky about the work, tell me exactly where the sour grapes come in because I have no clue as to what you are talking about...
Could this be sour grapes? h-m-m-m

Perhaps it's sour grapes?
I am a TL at Transcend and know a little history about some of the MLS listed in this thread. Transcend is a great company run by people who want to do right by their employees and their customers. Applicants, please consider that these MLS making posts had a role in their demise with the company. There are always two sides to every story.
Sour grapes?
Did you have a high percentage of reports going to QA? If not, then you can intelligently guess what the lines would be. This is one of the most fair-minded and supportive services I've ever worked for, and I've worked for many of the services out there.
Sounds to me like sour grapes because you can't cut it. I'm
They pay a diffential for more difficult accounts. I haven't seen any junk yet. Double dipping? What do you mean by that? What's your definition of double-dipping?
sounds like sour grapes to me

I smell sour grapes. This is a lie. They do not oursource
I've been an at-home MT since 1990, and was in-house for 12 years before that.

Amphion is the BEST, MOST PROFESSIONAL, and FAIR company I've ever worked for.

Whoever is trying to make them look bad on here is lying, and I suspect it's one of the people from "another company" that DOES SUCK trying to bring down an honest reputable company because they're jealous that they don't have the character and professionalism that Amphion has.
no sour grapes here. I have a new job and love it. Just telling the truth is all.Just because some

Why dont you just lay off. Sour grapes because you weren't hired?
Sounds like it to me.
People make a lot of stuff up (sour grapes?)

ss
Don't understand your logic....Sour grapes = unprofessionalism, incompetence, outsourcing
A true professional MT will refuse to work under such conditions.
In our field of work, its never been openly
shared with the MTs what the status of accounts are, etc. Only time we hear things about account specs is when an account/client is unhappy or after they are gone. I've been in this industry for 30 years, and its never changed. The company who lost the client is not going to give you advance notice - its not to their benefit, and its naive to think they would tell you in advance. And as far as contacting the account and trying to work for the new company - think about it. An account often leaves a MT service due to quality issues - like they think the work stinks. So most times the account wants less than nothing to do with the old MTs on the account. If the client was all that happy about the MTs, chances are good they would not dump the service. I have known few accounts who took on old MTs, at least permanently. Sometimes they will screw the MTs as well and take on the old MTs just to get the account up and running with their company, and then all of a sudden, BAM, they don't need you anymore. Its the nature of our industry. And clients come and go and come and go all the time. I've lost many an account, and thought it was the end of my career, only to get a new account and be comfie for a few years. I'm not trying to belittle your upset - I understand. Just trying to point out the flip side and that you should get used to it. We MTs have to look out for ourselves. No company is gonna help us out these days - probably in all industries. Good luck!
If it exists, I doubt anyone in the know would openly share it.

Do not outsource to India, outsource a small amount to Phillipines.

Totally agree on the ones that send it openly to all services. Tacky and
not professional. Also to those who make resumes out like a medical report, you can't read them if you are a recruiter. For one thing, you are not supposed to name the patient so not a good idea to substitute applicant's name there because it shows you do not know the rules. Second, you cannot tell anything about experience and it is difficult to read these medical report type of resumes. I am sure other recruiters get them too and I have no idea who gave MTs the idea for these totally ridiculous responses to advertisements.
Yes, they are in Trinidad.
They are training people in Trinidad. A Transcriptionist started that company and now that she is no longer with us, her husband has rationalized the decision even though they used to say they would never send work offshore. I had actually quit a decent job to go there and then the Trinidad thing blew open.
Work now going to Trinidad SM

A certain company is advertising for people to go to Trinidad and train new MTs.

Haven't we lost enough freakin work!

They used to offshore to Trinidad so it could be. nm

Work has been going to Trinidad for years, actually, but not a lot of it from what I can tell. A QA

yep - Trinidad is doing MT work for USA today....

Amphion outsources offshore to Trinidad.

Don't let this sour you on this profession. sm
There are great companies out there and horrible ones. What was horrible for you might be a good fit for someone else.
Grapes of Wrath
Read Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck.  I realize today I just became a dustbowl evicted - farm worker.  Lets all pick peaches while there are peaches to pick, then move on down the road in our jalopies.

has anyone else get late paychecks from Meridian or is the negative just from one sour pus

I really would like to know before accepting a position with them.

I would like someone besides the poster from below to answer please.

Do your own research.
I'm another MT happily working with Omni!

The inflammatory post is obviously written with an ulterior motive. I have been working with Omniscribe for quite a while now, and I can honestly say it is a professionally run business run by a truly together businesswoman who truly respects her clients as well as her contractors and employees.

I will say that quality is job #1 at Omniscribe. It's respectfully expected. Anyone who wouldn't want to do their best to put out a 100% quality product, quite honestly, shouldn't be in this business.

If you're looking for information on the company, I would suggest speaking to employees as well as the owner of the business.
You need to do a lot of research - sm

If you are starting from scratch and don't know anything, you need to start looking this stuff up on the internet.  There are at least 3 types of pedals you can buy, for instance, and every company has a different requirement.  You could also use a C-phone or some other type of dial-in phone for the company's system.  There are many, many different things and each company requires a different system.

So my advice is to apply to a job (most put in their requirements in the job ad) and then talk to the company.  Most of these systems aren't hard to learn but if you have nothing to go by, coming from tapes, I'd look into a little more and get some knowledge under your belt first.

Good luck to you.

Yes, but I do the same research now that I did then, sm
and have still taken the time to mentor people and listen for them when working in a paid by the line situation.  It's not all about production.  It's about quality, and giving back what I have been given.  Unfortunately, it seems that a lot of people nowadays are geared to production only.  However, being able to do all types of dictation and all types of dictators ultimately makes you a more valuable employee and you do end up making more money.  Last time I tried training people inhouse, I was appalled to find that they were happy just running spell check, assuming that if the spell checker doesn't kick it out, then they have the right word, without even knowing the meaning or anything.   I don't pretend to be the queen of anatomy or pharmaceuticals or anything, but I do have enough working knowledge to know if something fits or not.   Dorlands was my best friend for many years.  :-)
Please, do your OWN research

before deciding that you don't like a company, because this board is definitely biased.  I have been with Amphion for going on 2 years and I can honsetly say, without a doubt, that it is the best job I have ever had.  There's tons (and I do mean tons!) of work to be done, the support staff is awesome, yes...QA is strict, but after all, we are in the business of people's lives and health care...so it needs to be.  If you are an excellent, quality-minded MT, then Amphion will work for you.  If not, then you really should look elsewhere.......

And no, I am not a supervisor, recruiter, or management; I am simply a very happy and satisfied MT

Research
If you research thoroughly, you will find out via the internet, other employees, etc. I am currently compiling a list of all the companies that offshore...even just a little bit. :)
You need to research
American History & see just how bad it really was before unions. It's an eye opener & scary to think we're headed back that direction. The problems we're having now in MT are a direct result of too many powerful huge corporations in control without any union representation. The worker bees are always the ones to suffer in cases like this. Corporations and company owners hate unions, and there's a reason why. Because they're on the side of the WORKERS.
after doing a TINY bit of research ....
It seems its legal, as long as its non-invasive and doesn't ask questions that relate to sexual orientation, personal beliefs, etc. That would be an invasion of privacy. HIPAA for employees too (as well as ADA, etc).

In other words, the psych tests can be for ability to perform the work, etc, VERY work related.

(This makes very little sense, its a headache day for me, so thinking is a bad thing to do!).... back to my couch :-)
You've got to do some research
I'm not the original poster and this is not meant to be ugly at all. If you have to ask this question, you probably would not do well having your own accounts. Maybe you've received a letter or card from a dentist or doc that is new to the area anouncing the opening of his/her practice....same type of thing.

You've got to hustle. Do some research.
I was doing some research on Indian
MT companies and from what I can tell probably all work is done in India.  They do hire U.S. editors, or at least they used to.
MTs who care enough to research instead of
leaving a blank will certainly check other reports on the system. If a drug name is slurred or cut off during a DS, she might check the H&P or consult and see if she sees it there, or she might find out which Dr. Smith the referrer meant, etc. All part of the job. Other reports are accessed a need-to-know basis, and an MT often needs to know.
Where in Illinois? - so I can research. TIA

I'm not too lazy to research this...
The only esoteric element about your postings is how you manage to transcribe with all of these conspiracy theories running rampant through your brain.

What a delightful co-worker you must be.

market research
They didn't do the market research itself, they did the transcription of the interviews that were done for market research.
Okay then, how about Webmedx? I'm doing research.

Unfortunately, I did indeed research it, was proactive...
had the same problem the above poster had, could not get into the website, thought maybe I had the wrong website. Thank you for being so helpful and sarcastic.

Use the research box, not the Google box and (sm)

see what you find.  If it is the same company that has been discussed on this board recently many times, it is not good, several employees have posted about not getting paid and having to turn to legal proceedings to try and get their money.

Again, not sure if it is the same company but do plenty of research.  Good luck!

Not unhappy with my job Right Now, but I would be will to research it.

I love my job, but I feel like the future of MT in general is very insecure.  I would and I have investigated other possibilities.

On further research, I was correct sm
in my assessment of this person. Quite a bit posted about her on on this board over the years.
