Not new at all. I don't rely on

my company giving gifts to show how much they appreciate me nor do I need the gift card to feel warm and fuzzy all over. I do my job each day, get my paycheck, and don't complain. I have learned how to save money over the years, live a comfortable life and don't stress about what I will or won't receive at Christmas time. Greed is the big factor here, expecting that trickle down thing to happen. If you don't like the company you work for MOVE ON. If you don't like your job, FIND ANOTHER PROFESSION. Someone earlier said we women were the smarter gender; yeah, smart enough to work from home for what is a lousy wage at times, b*tching and complaing about not making enough money, what kind of gift our company is going to give us, how to pay the bills. That sounds intelligent to me! Whiners.....

Never rely on just one MT service...sm

In my 13 years as an MT, I have been nearly evicted because I relied on only 1 company to make ends meet.  After that experience, I vowed to always keep at least two companies to work for.  It takes about that many or more just to make job security in this industry, depending on who you work for.

I'm really hearing good things about Transtech and Keystrokes, though I've never been involved with either one.  They are saying these companies give you back-up accounts with plenty of work.  Again, this is hearsay from this forum.  Sounds like it is worth a shot, though.

Rely on your contract - you did have one - right? nm
nm.
Do not rely on Radiology
it is dying a slow death. Insert crying emoticon here.
Yes, and if you're an IC, it's dangerous to only rely on one - nm

Rely on DRC, MT positions, my comments about their ad

anyone seen this job on MTJobs?  I put it below my paragraph under the line.  Well, I can tell you all that I used to work for them, and this is all ridiculous, to say the least, the VERY LEAST.  Their management is very rude; they don't want to EVER be bothered by any MT who works at home, especially if you do have a legitimate problem with their software and need to talk to a tech person, or maybe even, perhaps, to one of them about something particular with the account that you are working on.  Believe me, since I quit working for them, I certainly am talking about them to my family, but it certainly is NOT what they think I might be saying.  I do NOT recommend this company to anyone because they are cut-throats, to say the least.  Their tech people are really nice, but they are not available, either, the way that the company says they are, especially weekends when MTs seem to need the tech support.  Oh, and I forgot to mention, if you like to be bothered by QA while you are working throught their software, then you will LOVE working for them!  Somehow, they have these little notes come to you right on your working screen, and it actually makes you stop typing until you read them.  I HATE THAT!  I just like to work without such hindrance of my productivity!

If you had to rely on them for full-time you would

Sorry for your situation. I would most definitely NOT rely on email for something that important.
Call your supervisor on the phone, and be firm about it.  If they say she/he isn't there, or do you want his/her voice mail, ask for help from someone else.  Explain that its VERY important, and you need to speak with someone NOW.  Good luck to you!
Don't rely on company line count.
My company said I was getting paid for spaces, headers, footer and templates.  They also have their own line counter that they can go by but MT/Editors cannot access.  I did a line count on my own using Word count and my numbers and theirs were way off.  After much prodding found out I was only getting paid for what was in the body of the text.  Now I am working on getting paid for the corrected line counts, which is taking forever.  Don't believe anything other than what your own eyes tell ya.
I've had spot spelling tests over the phone for svl places in my years. Not fun when you rely on
