They only requested that I pick the days

I would work and that they include 1 weekend day, which seems fair to me.  We fill out monthly calendars, letting them know if we cannot work a day (be it a weekday or weekend).  I have never been told I could not have a day off.  We do not have to give the hours we will work, only the amount of lines we will put in per day.

I have absolutely no problem with any of that.  Having worked for MQ in the past, where we were chastised for clocking in 15 minutes late or our keyboards were monitored for inactivity, MDI has been a breath of fresh air.

If I were an employee, I would certainly be upset if I had to log in and had no work and then would have to keep checking back throughout my shift for work, only to have to make up the entire shift later on.  That seems very unfair to me.

If I run out of work at MDI, I email my liason and let them know that I'm out and I'll make it up another day if there's work.  If there is not enough work later in the week, then I don't make it up.  I can't help it if there's no work.  I'm flexible, but I don't live to work.  I'm also fortunate to have another income.

Sorry to hear of your situation.  Didn't mean to be so nosy.  Your post didn't say either way that you worked at MDI, but I just assumed so -- you know what that makes me!

A special is defined as a special in Radnet - i.e. anything sm
from a PICC line placement to c-arm to interventional.
has anyone requested the test from DocuMed...(sm)

How do we fill out the forms requested via email when we don't

The poster requested some information to back up the allegations - sm
I am very interested and would like to see some recorded history myself.
That is what I just said. !0 days PTO, period. That includes vacation, sick days and personal days
They should have paid holidays so that you are paid if you take off. Also should inculde extra hours for sick days and personal days.

That annual raise of .002 is kind of a joke especially when at the same time they upped the minimum line requirement from 10,000 lines to 12,000 lines.

OSi just does not have the qualified people in management positions that I wish to work for.

I am glad that you are happy at OSi and all is working out for you. Their dishonesty and the way they treat people just does not work for me.

Of course they can get by cheaply by hiring unqualified people so that is very good for the owners.
The moderators have already requested that you stop with the grammar police stuff.
This is not the forum for you to try to be queen of QA.  I am not insecure about my grammar skills, but I certainly am not going to get all in a tizzy if I make a mistake while posting on a message board, nor will I get all bent out of shape if I see an error in someone else's post.  This forum is here to network with each other about various companies, hence the name COMPANY board and not GRAMMAR board.
You bill 30 days behind, and they snail mail it so it's late - about 40 days from invoice
No way jose - they even messed up their direct deposit payments
and this is special because.....? nm

No, not very special.

There ought to be a special SM
piss and moan board just for all you negative types who like to do nothing but complain and be miserable and start trouble.
Well, now - isn't that special?!

Maybe she/he works 14 hour days/7 days a week? nm

you must be special, most people get 8 cpl or
less if on the new platform which only pays 60% of your line rate.
You must be special, some of us get nuttin

I haven't seen overtime request in 9 months.

How is the ESL situation at MDI-Fl? Any special
nm
You must be special, I never get a call
and only get a list of work to be done. A thank you once in a while would be nice, or even an offer to change accounts since there seems to be a hiring spree for them. I feel like if I fell off the end of the earth that they would call in 2 days to see why the work was not done, but no one gives a care whether you live or die there.
These special teams they have is just SM
sugar-coating the fact that you get the worst of the worst all shift, every shift.  It allows them to funnel all the bad dictator to the MTs who can do them and allow everyone else to have the lighter stuff.  I think if they are going to have BEST, STARs or whatever teams, they should be paying MINIMUM 12 cpl for this kind of dictation.
No, they were never special enough to have their own in the first place.
nm
Nah, nothing special. They are interesting though. Perhaps you could ask for some?
Maybe they can put some in your cue now and then. Just a thought.
I have never had a problem, but I know how *special* I am! LOL
I sometimes get ignored, but I know when certain people are in the office or at home, on shift or off. About 96% of the time I have no problems at all. Had platform problems today and got a prompt answer and had it all fixed up within about an hour.
Special situation

Hey guys,

I got kind of a special situation and was curious if anyone had any suggestions.  I am living abroad for 6 months and then will be returning back to my house in the US.  When we came abroad I was working for a company and then started with another company a short time ago.  I like them a lot, but they are mostly VR and I can't stand it and make no money doing it, so I was out looking for another company.  I am a US citizen and pay US taxes, but I am having trouble finding a decent company to work for.  I know some people do this job and are military wives stationed all over, so I thought maybe someone would have an idea of a great company hiring at the moment?  I am fresh out of ideas.  I have several that will gobble me up gladly when we get back to the US, but I need to work while we are away.  I can stay where I am, but I am not really making any money and went part time due to the VR editing mess.  Anyone know of any solutions?

Thanks in advance!!

I saw that ad and took special note of it also. (sm)
My first thought was their accounts must be extremely backed up and they (KS) are in danger of losing clients, thus the need hire MTs who are going to be able to pull off that line count within only their first week.

However, there is ALL WAYS more to a story than meets the eye.
It takes special ppl to do what we do. Either you have it or you don't. sm
Not everyone is cut out for this field. I'm sorry that it didn't work out for you because it definitely has it's perks! Like sitting in my PJs as I type this, while my hubby sits in traffic. It took him 5 hours to get home the other night from an ice storm. I'd list more bonuses, but there are just way too many and I have to get back to work.
Jayne, I didn't have to do anything special. I have
my SmarType running with MS Word and when my Word program opens SmarType is running with it. Load your SmarType and see if it will automatically start running when you open your Word program.
A special place in hell

awaits those people who told you that. I was an MT for 15 years and the most I ever made was 32K. That was several years ago when I worked at one of the last hospital jobs still around then. My pay actually got lower each year. I finally left the field.

Back in the day when I first started doing this, I constantly heard stories similar to my sister-in-law/aunt/cousin/best friend works in Florida/Texas/California/New York and makes $20 an hour doing transcription!!!!

I kept hearing about those big money jobs but I never found one. I've worked in every hospital, clinic, doctor's office and national you can think of and barely made ends meet. I'm so sorry they got to you. I wish I could get to people before they put down their money thinking their going to make big bucks. It's such a lie.

What makes u think u should get special treatment?
Tons and tons of ESL and you can't avoid them.
Why would you talk to the owner? Are you special? sm
Perhaps you missed the email about contacting your direct supervisor. I would never call her for anything. I have a person to go to.
Is there special equipment required with
Just curious.
yes true, unless on Special Teams, then 9 cpl
nm
Do you need a special foot pedal for DVI?
nm
Special foot pedal
You need a special foot pedal for TransNet.
You must be a special person - to have someone care so much about you.
NM
So you deserve special treatment? sm
MTs that don't have kids are ALWAYS stuck with the weekends and nights. It is expected of us to take up the slack for the MTs with kids ALL THE TIME. And when asked ONE TIME to switch and work a night or a weekend so an MT without kids can do something, the answer is always NO I want to be with my kids. Go ahead and flame me because personally I'm SICK OF IT!
Well, aren't you just SOOO special!

I also have a special needs child, but my company routes

our work so that one person can't do lots and lots of minutes and there not be any for the others.  Usually there is plenty of work for everyone to do lots and lots of "extra" minutes.   There have been rare days where there wasn't a lot of extra work, usually due to the hospital system being down, and I may be a couple of hundred lines short because there needed to be some work for everyone, but usually the next day there was plenty to go around.  Unfortunately most companies just want the work done and doesn't care who does it.  If someone stays up all night to work that is better for TAT, which is a major concern with most companies these days.

Any special reason, asking for a friend desparate for a job
Do they take newbies?
Can you tell me about testing? Do you need special foot pedal? (sm)
How quick are they to get back with you once you send resume? How quick is entire testing/hiring process?
TIA
No special errands to run, just work your shift. :) nm

So all three you just filled in the blanks and didn't need special equipment?
The MT I work with and I might test with them this week.
That's exactly what makes them special. They haven't lost touch with the MTs. (sm)
That's why I believe they are such a success.  Seems like a lot of people are saying the same thing.  I believe this will be my last MT job - they are great.
Agree. You can't fake experience with OPs and special procedures.
It's much better to be honest but tell them how much you want to learn & ask them to give you a chance.
Would that be 5 business days or 5 regular days?
So when are we going to be paid this time around since you're so knowledgable?

Sorry, but for some of us a day or 2 actually makes a difference.
Most want 20 hours over 5 days, but it could be more, or it could be spread over 4 days. nm

It is true. Any job has its good days and bad days.
Perhaps you'd like to just keep your old job and try this one out. Just because a poster here is crabbing about it, or even if as in the past there have been negative posts, odds are that there are very happy people who don't even post or know that this board exists. As Alice says. Everything is relative. The fact that this company is hiring and pays may be a place which is a blessing. As opposed to digging ditches on day labor for example. Or somebody might prefer digging ditches. This is just an example. Sometimes we who are employable, even though we don't make as much as we used to in this business, or as much as we would like to, we still if working at home do not pay for gas to go to work, career clothes, deal with office politics, have to look at a boss who writes us up if we are a minute late, etcetera. I don't make half as much as I used to, but I don't send my 3 children to day care which by the way saves us money. SO I remind my husband I am worth that in addition to my salary if I had a job outside. No job is perfect. I am not even sure if Focus is any good or not, I have not worked there. But if one poster says there are good days and bad, I say that is the most honest answer you are going to get anywhere, and if you need a job badly, how is it to hurt trying it out, until you know for sure for yourself? THanks for listening. But sometimes this board gets to be a bit much with the agendas of people railing on other people like the OP here who just wanted all opinions instead of just one side. Balance is always great. And, if things seem lop-sided, then it is a good thing to seek out both sides. IMHO.
I think they would. Those are good days for 10-hour days. sm
I have a set schedule but it is Tues-Sat and it works well for me. It wouldn't hurt to ask!
90 days is correct. 3 days off 1st year, 10 during 2nd.
