One way to look at it

Here is an analogy that came to my mind.  A transcription company is like a kitchen and we are the appliances.  Consider a stove and a refrigerator.  Each has specific functions.  When the refrigerator gets too full, you don't put the overflow food in the stove, right?  No, if the refrigerator gets overloaded, you consume or dispose of the food in some way or add another refrigerator, freezer or whatever.

The transcription companies seem to think of us as appliances with specific functions.  When a new account is coming on board, they often look for more equipment to do the job, rather than share the jobs between the various appliances.

Also, they want to get the cooking done quickly, so the more appliances they have around, the better.

It isn't common for the kitchen owner to worry about the welfare of the appliances, but will quickly replace or augment the appliances as needed.

Okay, it's not a great analogy, but it's an analogy.

Ever since I have decided to accept that I am part of the equipment, I have felt much better.  The other side of the coin is that I feel very little emotional attachment to those who manage the equipment.  They are not my family, not my friends, and will only give me what I want as long as it suits them to do so.  In return, I will do the best job that I can because that is who I am with the best reward being self-esteem that comes only from within myself;  I expect to have sufficient work and be paid fairly and on time, but will not allow my fuses to blow and will not allow the main cooks to fry me in hot oil.

Just my opinion, of course.
