SPi/CERIDIAN

I was wrong about the letter being phish. Both Ceridian and SPi have confirmed to me that it is legitimate. Apparently only those employees affected by the lost laptop received letters. I would like everyone who received a letter to contact me via email. California has a law called the California Security Breach Notification law that requires that such the employee must be advised of the occurrence within a week. I urge everyone to check to see whether their state has such a law. This situation may just be actionable.

I am extremely angry that we were left with our butts exposed for so long before we received advice. I think, at the least, Dave Woodrow and Gloria Martinez owe us all a personal apology.

SPI/Ceridian
What also bothers me is that the first I heard of this was from Ceridian via their letter. SPI had a responsibility to contact us directly, ASAP, when they were made aware of the situation. Again, total lack of respect for their supposed team.
SPI/Ceridian Letter

Wondering if any SPI employees have accessed the enrollment for the 1 year free credit monitoring with Equivax due to a supposed breech of security with their payroll service, Ceridian.  I am wondering if this is legit or if it is the typical scam where after the first year free you are automatically enrolled into the service at a charge and it is your responsibility to cancel.  I would hate to think they have stooped so low as to be profiting off of their employee mailing list.  Guess I am feeling a little cynical today.

It wasn't SPi; it was Ceridian...
I have gripes about SPi too, but in this instance, they had nothing to do with the loss of the laptop/our info. It was a Ceridian employee who lost it. Ceridian is the company that processes the payroll for SPi. Just FYI
Equifax for Ceridian incident
I've verified with both SPi and Ceridian that this is a legit offer - part of their responsibility to make up for this breach in our security. I've tried several times to sign up for it but, to date, have still been unable to. It tells me that something is wrong with my sign-in info; but when I try to start the registration process over again, it says I've already got an account. Can't reach anyone who can help me with it at Equifax, either. Just another screwed-up part of this. :(

I requested copies of the police report(s) and still haven't gotten any...
