Something to think about...

I have a doc that has a VR system.  It takes him 2 minutes to dictate a progress note, and it takes him 10 minutes per note with his VR.  That is an extra 8 minutes per patient at about 20 patients per day.  That equals 160 minutes (2.5 hours) extra per day of his time to use VR.  He speaks clearly and has had the system for a few years now.  Time equals money, and docs make about $120/hr, which equates to approx. $300.00/day ($120/hr at 2.5 hrs) to use VR.  Hope I did not lose anybody.  He pays me about $35.00/day to do 20 patients.  Which would you chose?  Gosh, he could spend about 20 extra minutes and see one extra patient per day to pay me to do all of his transcription.  It doesn’t make sense.
