I did well on my tests, but was told after 30 days of being with them I would have to pay $600 for their platform, payable at $25 a week. Did you have to pay this? The only contact I had was with Rosanne.

anyone have any experience with this company? QA seems rude and they seem to nitpick every comma and I am not sure how long I will last on that job. Would appreciate any info.
Superior Transcription Co, New York

Does anyone know anything about this company?  I tried to download their instruction files, and when I double click on the installation file like the directions say, it just brings up a page of symbols.  There's got to be another way.

The lady wanted me to start right away today, and sent me all the things I have to download (Voice Scribe), then it was late in the day and I didn't get it all downloaded by the time she left at 4:45 PM.  Now I'm not sure if I can do this. I can't call her back until Monday.

Anyone have any information on SpetraMedi Medical Transcription out of New York

Need opinions. I am part of the Northeast region of MQ or New York and we have been told that they

want to keep all the accounts so I assume that means all the NE Region within one hour of being out of work and out of work every night or caught up. Now I ask you where does this leave the MTs. I am speaking of acute care accounts with TAT of 12, 24 and 48 hours. Our offifce accounts are already complaining of poor quality work coming back to them because of just everyone being thrown into them to get the work done so I guess to accomplish this ridiculous obssessive 1 hour complete work situtation they will lose accounts and quite obviously MTs as running that close to complete in my option will run us continuously out of work into backups and of course then we are watched for how much of our work goes to QA etc. Does this seem like a no win situation. ASR has picked over all the accounts already also on DQS. I can see looking around very soon depending on how this situation plays out. Is this idea crazy or is it normal.

We keep getting these ridiculous bulletins carbon copies to everyone in New York MQ it seems telling
us how far off this TAT we are. I think they should stick their 1 hour TAT where the light doesnt shine. The only time the TAT for 1 hour percentage is right is when there is no work. I think MQ needs to be looking for some new managers or soon that is all there will be left, all managers no workers to pay their freaking salaries.
Awhile back they got a New York account that everybody is fussing about the ESLs
x
It depends how fast they are growing. I worked for a company in New York that sm
had 5 new accounts start, 1 a month for 5 months, that were all very large and needed 20+ MTs. They are now a larger company and do not constantly need new MTs, but I think it is unfair to judge a company by how many people it is hiring. I think it would be interested to find out how many are new positions and how many are due to MTs leaving and why they left.
Anyone know any info on Silent Type out of New York? I don't know how to find in archives. Thnx

As a recruiter, I'd hire an Andrews grad in a New York minute. You're doing a great job of se
They are properly trained. They are ready and able to work from day #1.
Wouldn't YOU like to have training that made you a hot commodity the minute you graduate? Maybe you should go back to school so you can be an arrogant MT and not be penalized because you aren't cutting it.

As a famous model once said Don't hate me because I'm beautiful.

Good luck in your future endeavors.

65+ and still transcribing
I'm 65, was hired by CyMed/SPi at 63 but had another offer at that time. Companies have never asked my age (and aren't supposed to). Of course, they can often figure it out from a resume or when you have to send in a copy of your DL or other ID. I sympathize and empathize with your chronic pain. I've had to slow down to 6 hours a day due to shoulder/neck problems and had had 3 surgeries (did not have to give my medical history when applying either). I still enjoy the work. I consider our jobs a genuine specialty, truly medical language specialists! I have lots of ESL experience and that is usually a plus for me. I'm on my own, divorced 20 years, so no hubby help, etc. I took early retirement at 62 but it barely covers my rent now that Medicare and MC supplement premiums are being deducted. Thanks for posting your concerns. Don't give up on finding a company--you are a valuable person in this field!
I was also transcribing (sm)
ER reports for them on an IC basis (weekends, nights, etc.) .  The account I was on was easy.  If I remember correctly, I was up to around 275 lph within the first couple days.  I left because I had a second job which was full time and it just became overwhelming for me.
J and J transcribing

Hi,  Does anyone here know anything about J and J Transcribing?  I applied to them a long time ago and they have finally gotten back to me.  It was so long ago that I cannot remember any of the original information that I knew about the company.  Thanks,  Gale

On transcribing what you know to be
correct versus what the client/MTSO wants, you have to go by that. They pay your bills. When and if the client is cited by Joint Commission for inappropriate abbreviations then it will be changed, but until then type things as instructed. If you have to do what QA wants, then there isn't much you can do about that, but why can't QA pull up the information they are looking for instead of you??? For the lack of work, contact your supervisor again and ask if it is a permanent thing or just temporary that the work is low for now (don't mention the other MTs if you are not supposed to know about it) and, if so, ask again about a second or third account.

J&J Transcribing, Inc.

Does anyone know anything about this company?  I haven't applied for a new MT position in a while and something seems off about this company and I can't find any info. on here about them.  I did find online that they are a legitimate company.  I actually never tested for this company and didn't realize that until after the fact, because I had tested for several different companies.  So, the owner of the company called me and told me that they wanted to hire me and explained a bit about the job and she emphasized that QA had to remain 98% or higher, which is pretty standard, so I saw no issue with that.  So, then they sent me the foot pedal/headset FIRST and then I received the information via e-mail about the company.  It is confusing because the information says I will be typing for Webmedx untill my QA is 98%, including the use of their platform and once I get to that point I will be allowed to work for J&J.  It says that if QA does not feel I get to that point then I will not be allowed to work for J&J.

Another thing concerning is their pay schedule, you work from the 1st through the 31st and you get paid the 25th of the following month.  It states that if during the initial QA process if you don't pass and are allowed to work for J&J then you do not get paid for any of the reports that you typed during that first month, but if you are released to work for J&J then you will get paid for those.

Also, with the QA once you do get released to work for J&J, it says they do not do quarterly reviews and such, but pretty much daily monitoring of your work and if any time you fall below 98% you are no longer allowed to work with them.  It is concerning because with my experience with QA they tend to help you, but this job seems like it is just a prolonged testing process.  I am not overly concerned about the 98% QA, but I hate to waste my time memorizing a book of information they sent me with account-specific guidelines and doing reports for free in hope that I can be with the company.

Anybody heard of anything like this before?  Thanks so much.

Editing vs. transcribing.

Why would anyone choose editing?  Is it better pay than transcribing.  Just wondering if that's something I should aim for or stick with training for coding.

TIA

Its not all Transcribing. So be careful
This is just a reminder that there will be people out there to actually fool other people for working for them and not paying them. its like a new age of salvery.
I really do enjoy transcribing, actually
as much as the day I first started almost 17 years ago.  I'm willing to go the extra mile and learn as much as I can.  I just need someone to give me the chance.  Thanks for the encouragement.
are you transcribing or editing? nm

either way, you're in for a rude awakening.

I'm currently doing a mix of editing and transcribing
There are good points and the not so good points to the editing.

I've been with the company too long to just give up and jump ship without giving it a fair shake tho.

I like editing but I wish the compensation was better.

When I was straight transcribing I was doing a little over 2000 lines per day, approximately 135-170 minutes per day and making darn good money.

Now, with editing thrown into the mix, I do anywhere from 1900 to 3000 lines per day, and approximately 190-230 minutes.

Just my own personal opinion but I think the ones who truly made an improvement in their earnings were those who were maybe doing a little over the minimum required 1100 lines per day to begin with. The higher producers... not so lucky.

I'm not quite ready to throw in the towel yet.
Made much more transcribing, but it was too SM
hard on me physically, so I had to opt for the hourly QA route.
Lee Perfect Transcribing Co.

Would like any current information on this company..enough work, good/bad people to work for, and platform used (Emdat).  Do they pay for spaces, etc., any info whatsoever, good or bad is appreciated.  I did check past messages but would like something current.  Thanks.

At-home Transcribing
I have been working from home since July 2002.  I absolutely love it.  I have worked for Spheris, MedQuist, and now I am at Webmedx.  The company I am currently with is the best.  Spheris is also good, but they do not have bonus incentives.  All 3 of these companies have PT positions available.  You pay a $250 deposit for the equipment (which is better than using your own cuz if anything goes wrong they pay for it and not you!) which is split into $50 from each paycheck.  If you ever leave the company you get that back.  Also they have full medical, dental, 401K, and vision, and PTO time.  I work FT and absolutely love it!  My take home pay is around $1000 every 2 weeks.  That is TAKE HOME!!!!!!  So, if you have any more questions please feel free to ask me.  Good luck in your job search!
I been getting 13 cpl for editing VR and 18 cpl transcribing. nm

It's not all it is cracked up to be and certainly not for everyone. There are more hours involved in administrative tasks with more clients, too. Make sure you are fully aware what you are getting into before jumping. Not saying that to discourage, just a friendly warning. It has its rewards, too, but trust me, you will work your tail off. Doctors work 24/7 and often expect the same of their business associates.

If you provide digital equipment, you'd better know it inside and out or have a good tech person on your payroll because the office will call you for help everytime there is a hiccup. Set forth your hours, rules, and extra charges for stat reports, faxes, copies of reports lost in their office, etc., ahead of time. Once you get a few clients, you may want to line up another MT or find someone you can subcontract to in the event of illness, vacation, etc., maybe trade favors with another MT with own clients.
Metro Transcribing?

Anybody work for or worked for this company?  Any info is appreciated.

TIA!

Have you been transcribing for 40 years?
Is that what you mean by 40-year vet? Wow that's a lot of years.
J&J TRANSCRIBING QUESTIONS

I'm responding to the inquires about J&J Transcribing, Inc.  My name is Linda Jensen, CEO of J&J Transcribing and if anyone has any questions or concerns about any postings concerning our company, please feel free to contact me or visit our website at the numbers and addresses listed below.

We are a legitimate transcription company that has been in business for 18 years.  We contract with nationwide companies who supply work to our MT's.  Any reputable transcription company requires a 98% accuracy level, as this is what is expected from a medical transcriptionist, as well as what an account expects from our company.  If an MT's work isn't up to that level, then they obviously can't continue to do the work.

As noted above, please feel free to contact me if anyone has any questions and I will be more than happy to speak with you.

Transcribing in Ireland
Hi Adele: I am wondering if an American company had an internet-based platform why you could't transcribe for them from anywhere in the world, if you had high-speed connection?
QT, First Choice, JLG, and Metro Transcribing sm
That is all I know of at this time.
I have been transcribing less then 4 years and am successful. sm
I have 2 accounts of my own that I have through word of mouth.  They love my work.  Having a lot of experience is great but not necessary if you are willing to work hard.  I am sure that in 8 more years I will still be happy with what I do and how I do it and so will my clients.
Metro Transcribing in Atlanta, GA

They have a job posting on MT Desk.  Does anyone know anything about them?  TIA!

Transcribing in Emdat is a breeze.
It is very easy to look up information if the demos are not filled in.  The comment box is at the bottom of the screen and it is very simple to click and add a comment.  As for the foot pedal, I don't even use one.  I learned to use the F keys. Transcribing in Emdat is a breeze.  Transcribing is fun again!
Any info on Metro Transcribing, Inc. ? Thanks! NM

If I get offered more for BOTH the editing and transcribing..
I'll probably take it. Thus far it has been one or the other. Or the insurance offered was unaffordable. Really, Lee Perfect paid me the best for eScription. I was really sad when they no longer had that account.
