LTMT
Thank you. Your upcoming trip sounds wonderful. I would have never worked two jobs if I had not started at the first of the year with a company that was constantly running out of work. Nice wonderful people but I am not going to trust my career to them.
LTMT
Oh, yeah, I went to work for a company that (I learned later) is apparently notorious for running out of work all the time. It darned near bankrupted me and my family.
LTMT
I, too, have a serious work ethic and make 50k+ a year. And no, I do not work overtime.
LTMT
It sounds like you have a great fit for yourself. I have never worked for Keystrokes or had any dealings with them. I think that the key (no pun intended) is your sentence I AM VERY HAPPY THERE. If you have found happiness, you have found what most people are looking for. I feel the same way about MDI--I have found my ideal match. A friend of mine, a very shy person by nature, purposefully chose Spheris because she wanted a big company where she could be one of the many. That would drive me crazy, but it suited her just fine. I think the key (again that word!) to all of this is that there are different needs for each person and we all need to respect each other's choices. I am glad that you found such a good place for yourself and wish that every other MT is as happy as you and I are at the end of the day. Take care.

In California, the bus drivers (at least in the big cities) are unionized and they really DO make the big bucks. (But they have a lot of stress. Can you imaging driving a bus in LA or SF? Not for me.) I guess I should no worry, though California will be bankrupt in 46 days if Arnie is right.
LTMT
When I first moved to California 25 years ago, it WAS paradise. Sadly, it has really fallen in apart in so many ways. I would not advise anyone to move there now. Waaaay too expensive and too aggravating.
LTMT, you're not
Carol R, are you?
Hey LTMT! It's me the MT who was offered the
E-Trans plus job same time as you and we spoke here before! I hope you like Keystrokes. I worked there briefly and thought they were very nice, but had to leave for personal reasons... May this job be all you hope it to be!
As I mentioned before, I am at MDI now, and just took a 3rd shift with Transcend too, and there is a lot of work there for the lean times, so I won't be broke anymore. I love both jobs. So, I hope that finally is a success story for you and me after all the job hunting this year! Merry Christmas to you and Happy 2009!
Name her and Shame her, LTMT
Get the word out before she does this again, and I'm so sorry you're going through this. Whether $338 or $38, you earned it and you deserve to be paid, too.

These people stiffing MTs never fail to amaze me. What a bunch of soulless monsters.
LTMT, just wondering if you still work for GBJ and
if not, why you left.  Sounds like a good deal.
LTMT - Do you still work for WestTran?
I was wondering about this company.  I think you said you had worked for them.  I could be wrong, but I also think management may have changed?  Any scoop?  Feel free to e-mail me...  Thanks in advance....
BTW LTMT saw you were to start with E-Trans. How
is it going? I never started with them as planned, things got put off so I stayed put at my old job.
Hey LTMT: Was wondering if you still recommend
I am thinking of applying at Encompass and wondered if you were still there and if you like it. I am running out of work where I am. I originally was hired at E-Trans plus, and you and I wrote to each other on this board, but the account did not start on time and I had to stay put at my original job. Thanks for any comments about Encompass or any other good job lead. You seem to do great research!
Thanks for sharing your information LTMT!
Wow, you have been through a lot and I admire your ability to bounce back. I just know whatever company you choose to work with you will do well, and good luck on your move! Thanks too for the feedback on all the companies. I thought that E-Trans was very nice too, but decided in my heart I did not want shift work, and since it did not work out the first time (the ExText account), I would just pass. I am going to keep Encompass in mind for the future because they seem great like you said, and I have the quality but have been in this for so many years, don't want to be stressed out. Like you, I get insecure, and that is when I do worst. LOL.
I wish you all the best. For me, I am now going with MDI-MD and know that if I maintain my quality and my flexibility I can stay away from shift work. I think we all need to put priorities and what we need to do in life and then hang onto our decision. Rough seas, but if you hang on to the life boat the storm always passes and we always seem to make it.
Thanks for writing and all the best to you! :)
Thanks LTMT! You have boundless energy,
and it is amazing how we have tracked each other through our job searches. We almost worked together at E-Trans, but missed a few days and Keystrokes, but missed each other about a year. I am glad you have found a place like Cardioscribes you consider home and DTS! Now, do remember to take some time for yourself... at least 10 minutes just to dream dreams, because after all that is why we work, so some day we can afford to live the dream! Happy Holidays and great to see you too!
You see, LTMT, another case of ingratitude.
You gave a lot of good hints on good companies and this is what you get in return. Thanks for it.
Why to bother, really!
sorry LTMT I didn't see you post before sm
I put mine about the pay for straight versus VR. Makes no sense to me either.
I think you're one of the smart ones LTMT
It's sad to see that apparently what was also once thought to be an excellent company is also biting the dust.  I don't know of anyone who has doubled their production on VR.  When you factor in the 4 cpl for VR and the no work, most I know are borderline bankrupt.  I think they can get a ton of newbies to take a dictionary and edit VR.  I do not think it takes the same skill as straight transcribing.  So they can take a whole herd of those so desparate to work at home they'll put up with anything and they just keep a constant stream of low income, really probably unskilled people, give them a Dorlands and a handy drug reference book and tell them to hop to it.  When they starve out, there are plenty more to take their place.   They have to keep hiring to keep this new system rolling.   This is just my 2 cents worth but about the only thing that makes much sense to me.
If she doesn't do the right thing, LTMT....
Then drag her out of the shadows and into the sunlight and exposure her like the blood sucker she turns out to be.

I get so angry when these MTSOs stiff the hard-working MTs. They must have no conscience whatsoever.

Keep us posted, k?
I registered with just my LTMT name, not my given name, and a hotmail address I use. sm

It was just a suggestion.  If I ran a company and saw all of the obvious discontent posted here, it would be a pretty big wakeup call.  You can say they already know, etc., but perhaps they do not know just how many people are thinking of leaving the company.

Again, it was just a suggestion.  To those who say that they have already expressed their plight to Dorothy in an email or by phone, then there shouldn't be any concern about anonymity when posting it on the discussion forum.

In answer to the person who suggested they have lowered their pay scale with the new hires, I believe that is true.  The top of the pay scale to new hires, I think is 10 cpl or something -- not sure exactly.

Agree LTMT.......I saw your post as just helpful
xx
TO LTMT: You posted below that you work FT for Keystrokes (sm)
and PT for Smart-Med. I work for KS and I didn't think I could work for anyone else. I thought I remembered reading something about it in the Employee Handbook when I was hired.  New handbooks are coming out this week...but just wondered if it really is OK with KS to work PT for someone else.  TIA.
Glad you are happy there LTMT!!! You and I were hired
I never could make that work, so went to Transtech instead. I had suggested for you to go to Keystrokes, because I worked there for a very short time and knew they were wonderful. I just wanted to touch base and let you know that I have thought of you and glad you finally found a company which appreciates you. For me, I reapplied to Keystrokes, but because I left them previously (it was a second job and I could not do 2 jobs full time), they have only responded that they got my resume, and they never again offered me a position. You are lucky to be in a good place, and I am very glad to hear things have worked out... all things happen for a reason! All the best... from your friend from the E-trans plus days...
Agree with LTMT about Keystrokes..I've been there nearly 3 years (sm)
I had a bumpy patchy for a while with no work but the owner herself and some of the office staff worked with me to find a good secondary account that I couldn't be happier with.
That's too bad..I was hoping you were.
To equate a business not hiring remote employees from a particular state with not hiring a particular race of people is ridiculous.  You do know there are laws regarding interstate business, right?  Do you think they view Californians as a race and they just don't like you so they won't hire you?  You would get nowhere with a lawsuit.
They were hoping you would not
:)
I keep hoping...
I have put alot of personal investment into my primary acct. Perhaps others can just pick up a new account and go with it. I am not that way. It takes me anywhere from 3-4 months to really get to know the docs especially when they come up so infrequently that only over a long period of time can you pick them up.

But right now, I am forced to deal with multiple new accounts. Like everyone else who is there, you never overcome your learning curve to maximize production and QUALITY!

But from the few things My supervisor has said, I think it is going to get worse before it gets better. The turn around times for all reports have become so real time that I will never see any pooling of my primary.

Example: This afternoon my supervisor wanted extra people to work tonight because some reports were going to be out of turn around (I mean how can they when there less than 24 hours old?)and the number of reports in my account was 15.
That is what I am hoping.
2 years ago. I am fixing to call and hopefully things will go well. If he asks, I won't lie.
I'm hoping 3.8 will be last. I'm looking at this as
xx
I was hoping
someone would say that, since people have recently posted that we (MTs) are always being negative, but if you are stressed about how you are going to pay your bills then.....also one of them suggesting we find another job.....believe me I am trying to finish school, but it's kind of hard, because some semester I can't get the money to pay for school because you never know how the work is going to flow.........

sorry for being so,negative lol I mean realistic.....
I was hoping for that. TY!

Yep, it's bad. Am hoping it will ...

not last, but I can't take much more.  As it is, I am living paycheck to paycheck.  I couldn't even get enough work on Saturday, which is my regular day since I work Tue-Sat.  I too have mult. accounts.  Am looking at getting a part-time job too.

Do you think that they just overhired?  Or is it everyone is feeling the crunch and upped their commitment?

That's what I was hoping to do also sm
Get up early Saturday morning, knock out my lines, and get on with my weekend
I am hoping for better...
Just because another company's speech platform stunk doesn't mean they all do. I am going to try to think positive. I know that won't pay the bills, but I myself cannot go into it dreading the worst or I will get really depressed, and what good is that going to do?
Thanks - I was hoping there was a quicker way
than doing them each individually. Very interested to see the difference. Probably much better at this (as far as line count/day) than I thought, huh?
Hoping someone out there has any info on SPI

Any info would be great.  Do they pay on time?  How are the supers? etc. etc.....

Thanks a bunch!

I am miserable there and hoping
to get out.  I have never made such a low LPH.  I was not aware that not being paid for spaces would hurt my production so much, but it has made a big difference.  I do like their platform and it was easy to learn, but I still have bills to pay.  I used to make 200 to 300 LPH with other companies, make 150 or so with this company.  Also they have a program where you can look up previous reports on the same patient or examples of report types or by the same doc, but it always, freezes or goes so slow and I am stuck in my screen.  I have heard from some others having this problem.  It really slows me down.  I am leaving as soon as I can.
OUTSTANDING - and *this* is what I was hoping for
Many people misread my tone and in all fairness tone is hard to read in an email or online.

What my main objective was in posting originally was this: do people just want to complain (justifiably) or do they want to *try* to do something about it *before it's too late*?? Assuming it isn't already too late...

I've had a few private emails and many on the board. Unfortunately, until next week I can't personally do much, but after that I'm more than happy to help an effort get started/organized.

Watch for a website which I'll start specifically for this purpose.

I have *no* idea if a union is possible or a step forward, but as long as we allow our considerable skills to be whittled down to minimum wage level, trust me, corporations will certainly try to go in that direction.

No, corporations aren't evil, per se, and they deserve to make a profit. that said, there's a difference between a profit and a killing.

Later - and HAPPY HALLOWEEN.
I'm hoping I'm wrong, but...
I thought I saw somewhere on TV that by 2009, phones were supposed to be digital? Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. I need to ask my boss about this to.
thank you - I'm hoping by summer to

nix the Q alltogether, unless by some miracle things get better. I think my biggest peave with the Q is that stupid time clock. I never wanted FT or benefits, so I don't see why PT with no benefits has to punch a clock. Give me IC any day!

The new company I'm going to only requires me to meet my daily quota on the days I say I'm going to work. If I need off, I just let them know I won't be working that day. No more holidays, no more cesspool and no more TIME CLOCK!

I hope things go well for you at KS. I've heard a lot of wonderful things about them on this board, especially if you want FT and benefits. Good Luck!

was hoping you could give me some
but i understand
I was hoping for that answer..sm
They already have my paperwork so I'm hoping things will move quickly if I asked to be put on the other account. TNX again!
Thanks SO much. I was hoping I could hear from SM
someone who works there. I have an email friend who referred me, but I really wanted someone else's opinion. I like everything I have heard and will probably accept the position once I have another interview. Well, I have to have employee/spouse insurance and I don't much like the cost -- but it's that way everywhere anymore. Anyway, thanks for responding.

I am hoping they figure it out too.
I am having a really hard time thinking that TT would so quickly turn their backs on their MTs. I just hope they soon figure out that paying 50% for VR is ridiculous. They should be able to tell by the paychecks people are now getting. Will they care, probably not, but one can hope. I don't know what platform you are on, but I hope the one I am on is not supposed to be the better one, not that it is horrible, but can't imagine how it could be worse on another platform, it definitely wouldn't be worth it.
I was hoping you would. Contrary to SM

what some people think, everyone participating on this board does not wish ill will toward a fellow MT.  For what it's worth, I think you are making the right decision and you are correct - if there's no work at all, it doesn't really matter what they are paying.  It all amounts to a big goose egg.

I doubt very much anything wonderful will happen with TT - it will just get worse and at least you'll be ahead of the game.

She's hoping to come back to a

In a perfect world, we'll all just find new jobs while she's gone.  If enough people quit, there might actually be an opening or 2, thus justifying all this continuous recruiting.

Yeah, I feel like she left us twisting in the wind.  Is it REALLY a virtue to never lie to us by refusing to tell us anything at all?  No WAY does she not know what's going on.  The majority of the team may have had faith in her before she left - lets see how they feel by the time she comes back!

Hoping it comes thru for you! Good luck! nm
s
thanks....i was hoping for info from someone who has worked for them...
Of course there will be nothing but positive information listed by the company themself.

Thanks for the info though.
I was hoping they weren't liars. sm
What a concept eh to think companies actually tell the truth once in a while.  I was hoping they would make good on their promise.  I have spent a lot of time making templates and such and did not want to start all over again.  OK, I get it now.  I told them I would not do anymore work until they sorted this out but I am looking elsewhere.  Thanks for the input.
I am hoping to start a new career with a new
company this year. Working on the resume now! I am so tired and burned out with my present employer and so unhappy doing QA. I want to transcribe again, or QA with a more professional company. Not too much to ask for, right?  But change is hard. I hope I don't wimp out.
You were hoping to build up experience
on the medical aspect of all of this? May I ask where you got your MT education? I am only asking respectfully and wondering why they are not helping you more. I find it curious that you are going to bow down at this point. Why give up?
