QA is not hired to finish MT's work
It's for going over for quality, not finishing what an inept MT doesn't want to do. The MT is supposed to look things up and try to put out a perfect product. The line rate for QA is very low. The problem is that everyone wants to work from home, whether or not they are qualified.
Does anyone what national company has been hired to handle...

ProHealth Care of Wisconsin hospitals. I heard that they have now changed to a national company to do all of their work for all their facilities.

$2500 gross a month working for a national
x
$4000 a month for a national with a low line rate. nm
nm
Waiting for that first check is normal. Getting paid once a month is not.
s
I was hired 1 month ago at 10.75 cpl. Yes they do pay 10 cpl or above. nm

Hired over a month ago.... no work yet
Hired and then a month later trained and then weeks later NOTHIng.  wHAT THE HECK IS going on????  i'm losing my mind here.
I applied a month ago, they hired me, said they would send
me the paperwork, but never did, so I took another job.  Even the interviews were confusing, so I may be lucky.
I hired on a month ago and was told there was no choice sm

but to use their computer.  I do not object to the deposit, and, like you, I think it is reasonable since they are supplying their equipment to a stranger.  I would MUCH prefer to use my computer to the computer they sent me.

As far as WMX being the best company ever, your experience must be better than mine.  So far, I have experienced an account with VERY poor sound quality, running out of work during my scheduled time, requests for a secondary account ignored, and emails ignored by the team manager.  Fortunately, I am only working part-time, so it is just a minor irritation while I look for something else.

Everyone's experience with a company is unique, and I am glad that yours is a positive one.  Sorry that I cannot say the same.

I wanted to work for Keystrokes but she hired me a month ago
and then never followed through. I think that they are a great company, at least the friends I have that work there think so, but it seems that hiring is their weak spot. I should apply for that. I am organized and would never let someone slip through the cracks. I am going to call their office on Monday to be the squeaky wheel.
Call them. Something is not right. I was hired a month ago and started 2 weeks ago. sm
Call Laura or Becky in the office. They are both in tomorrow.
I work part time, got hired last month. nm

I hope you're right. I've been waiting 4 wks for an ID - still waiting! nm

Do what you think is best. I just left a major national, went to another national but after
6 weeks found it did not fit. Just happened to luck into another smaller national and things couldn't be better. There are other jobs out there.
So if I finish the 60,000 keystrokes in
let's say 6 1/2 hours, I have to keep working for another 1 1/2 hours?
Finish sentence below
So, if you did 100% ESLs yourself the past 5 days let me know and I will gladly retract the statement. If you did not then why did you not help, and get over having to do the easier work? Just tell me that you helped out with the tough ones and I will retract and assume that there are more ESLs here than I was told.
Also, I will GET OVER IT when I am actually assigned the WORK TYPE I was hired for. What was that you said... GET OVER HAVING TO DO WHAT YOU WERE NOT HIRED FOR? Oh yeah, I forgot Bait and switch is the norm these days. IMHO.
They don't HAVE to let ya finish your notice time. LOL
Ya gave a notice, which was what they wanted. That's what makes you leave on a good note. All they can tell someone calling for a reference is the dates you worked and whether ya can work there again. If ya give 2 weeks notice then you're okay.

MQ isn't the only one who does that. Not just nationals either. Every hospital I've worked for, when ya gave notice, they accepted it, marked ya "eligible for rehire" and then you were done immediately.

I think there's probably too much room for questions and ugliness from an employee going out the door to others.
sorry, didn't finish my thought. sm
65-character with spaces is much better than 55-character without spaces.
I never got to finish. After it asked me how much I was making, I got thrown off. -nm
.
Yo, MissIndigo, I'm really happy for you, and I'ma let you finish, but
OF ALL TIME!
I've been loyal to MDI for 13 years and planned to finish my career here. I
can't even begin to express my dismay, disappointment, and feeling completely blind-sided and slapped across the face by this after a decade plus of Dorothy always saying she had too much integrity to EVER offshore, and now she's going to be in charge of sales and marketing TO offshore.  My mind is still reeling.  So not sure what you mean by loyal.  The MDI I've known and been loyal to for over a decade no longer exists.  Now I've just been left sitting here stunned wondering how she could do such a 180, or if it was just a facade all along.
Should've read my email sooner, they did invite me to finish the test -sm
Mine did have 4 dictations. None of them were ESL, though they were a little more difficult than most tests I've taken.
I think it depends on experience, account hired for, etc. I was hired at .08 per line sm
but after 90 days went to 0.085 and then 0.09 about 90 days after that. I am now at 0.0925 and have been there a year. I have to point out that the line rate might not be the highest but I can verify my counts, have plenty of work, get paid on time and have a great manager. To me, leaving a bad national and the headaches that went with it was well worth the cut in pay I took. Funny thing is that I took a pretty sizable pay cut but make more money ?!?!
I was told several new accts are coming on this month and also next month, so
I'm not worrying.
Pay period goes from 1st of the month to the 15th, then 16th to the end of the month. sm

So, I guess you could maybe get by with less than 1000 a day, although the incentive tier would make it worth your while to do a bit more.  I am using ExText, and yes, I find it easy to use, but then I used it for a year with another company.  I think their other platform is Mongoose, and I know nothing about that, so really cannot say.

Yes, they are hiring now.  In fact, there is a $500 sign-on bonus.  I think it is all just acute care.  I'm sure they would love to have someone with your experience.  Rhonda Durham is the recruiter.  I am sure she could answer any of your questions.  I am happy to help too, if I can, but I am relatively new.  The account I am working on is mostly psych, it seems, and I am loving it.

Another nice thing, their benefits start after 60 days, not 90 like most.

Good luck to you.

TransHealth starts 1st day of month after month SM
you start, BC/BS, good rate on single, don't know about family premium.
Last month was slow on my account..but this month (sm)
we've been swamped...
The new insurance is very reasonable. I pay $200/month and they pay $200/month. sm
Unfortunately, I have had to use it a lot since it changed and I am very happy. They have covered everything.

The insurance is actually $80 cheaper per month than I paid at the local hospital, which is a large employer.

thanks for the heads up

Thanx 4 the heads up...

man, thanks for the heads up

TT heads-up
Make sure they let you do ops.  If you have to do ESL Discharge Summaries all day long, you won't make your line count.
Wow, thanks for the heads' up! nm

Just a heads up - FYI

I see Breitner is looking for MTs.  This company does not pay on time, pays the incorrect amount, and the first check you recieve is 6 weeks after you start (wrong amt)!  Also, the transcription manger has NEVER done transcription and has no clue what to do if any issues arise.

I cannot believe companies like this still exist.  They have a horrific track record.

I know there are a couple of you out there that will defend them - and they love people like you.  When they say jump - you say how high.

Thanks to both of you for heads up..nm
xx
thanks for the heads-up.
I decided not to go with them after all.
Thanks for the heads up!
They sent me an e-mail to do this long testing and I will refuse. Why spend half of my day testing for a company that does not treat their employees good. Thanks for the heads up! I will pass....
just a heads up
I don't know how they are handling new hires, but a lot of us are getting multiple accounts which requires reading multiple client profiles. The concept of having a primary account is becoming extinct.

Maybe they are setting up new hires on primary accounts that are abundant in work, but there is the possibility that work may be funneled into your pool from all over the country.

This is MedQuist's way of solving the problem of MTs being out of work. However, those of us who never ran out of work now have lost our primaries to MTs who did run out of work.

So, the good thing is you will probably never run out of work...

I have been with MQ for 10 years and and currently phasing them out of my future career, as many of us oldies are doing.

The platform is great. No pay for headers.

Good luck!
Thank you for the heads up. n/m

Thanks for the heads up!

Thanks for the heads up!

I'm just so darned frustrated, demeaned, etc., etc., Good Lord, I've been in this biz since IBM Selectrics for God's sake, and my income is going backwards! I want to throw rocks at my hubby because he works for a major aerospace company, works virtual office, and sits in the recliner and attends meetings. Yes...he's put in  his 30 years and his income and retirement attitude reflect that. But what the HECK!!!! I've been doing this for 30 years, work crazy hours, 12, 15 a day, 7 days a week and all I get is a decreasing paycheck, frustration, aching bones and muscles, never eat, never get out of my jammies, never go outside. Geeeezzzzeee. Did I take wrong career path 30 years ago or WHAT???!!!!

But...I must dutifully get off this site and go do the first half of my 12 midnight to 4 a.m. shift, and watch my hubby sleep. hummmmmm. It sucks, but I'm too freaking old to start all over. Thanks guys. I really appreciate your input, and appreciate the commradorie of the handful that stick together here.  Have a blessed, restful night.

Thanks for the heads up
Don't want to waste my time or energy on someone who is disorganized and untrustworthy.  Oh well, she will end up digging her own hole.
Thanks for the heads up
I'll steer clear.  I really wouldn't consider working for a service in the southern US anyway.  While there may be a few good ones I don't know about (but I doubt it), the ones I have had experience with are extremely low-paying and try to micromanage their employees/ICs.  Only when I have worked for a southern-based service have I ever had unsolicited and unwanted fundamentalist religious e-mails crammed down my throat ad nauseum by the biggest hypocrites on the face of the planet.
THANKS for the heads up!
Un-friggin-believable.

If they don't think there is anything wrong with what they are doing, why the deceit? I would NEVER work for a company such as this!
Thanks for the heads up!

Heads up every body! sm
I thought this was rather interesting.  A while back I posted about working a short time for a company and then leaving because I wasn't happy with the platform and got a better offer.  Anyway, I was not paid for my work and about a month had gone by, so I posted here asking for help and was given a few good places to start.  I recently received an e-mail from said business with a copy of my post from this board, basically Ha!, we caught you.  However,  I did receive my pay 3 days later.  So, for anyone who doesn't think companies take time to read these boards, think again.   I  never imagined transcription company owners would have time to sit around reading posts on MT boards.
well that won't work for me. thank you for the heads up.
nm
Thanks for the heads up, I'll do that
/
I thought only OSI did it, thanks for heads up

Using our heads for a moment.
I know and quite admire one of the principals with this company although I do not work there. He is a gentleman, treats all with respect, has an amazing work ethic and has been very successful in this business over the accumulating years that I have known him. I have always trusted his advice and while I do not work for him now, perhaps some day I might. If/because a company may have had problems in the past is no reason to constantly bash them. It may be that they have turned it around and pulled it together. New people, new ideas, lots of new work, all things that can bring you to a place where your opportunities can be good ones. I value other people's opinions but there comes a point too where you have to take a leap of faith and find out for yourself. One MT's mistake is another's treasure. I think that the purpose of the board should be to help people make decisions based on useful information. This MT highway has two lanes, you know, and you often get back the effort you put out in any situation.
Heads Up.. there is more than ONE Donna :)
