I was told Escription would not work with Vista. Turned out it wouldn't work with my sm
Office Basic Edition 2003 either, but no one could figure out why, it was supposed to.

There is actually a section on the Dell website that offers Windows XP. I haven't checked it out as I'm not in the market, so I don't know if it costs extra. I have a Dell and it's been fine for me. I hate the ESL tech department, but it seems like most of them have that now.
yes, but I was told as an IC that if work was slow ICs get no work since they are nto employees

MDI-MD told me it would work now. nm

ICs being told when they can and cannot work

With being an IC, the only requirement I had was I had to commit to a certain number of lines per day and they had to be completed between 1:00 am-11:59 pm of any given day.  Some tried to pin me down to stating approximately what time I would be working daily, but since I am an IC and I cannot give an hour-by-hour commitment each day, I usually gave them a time frame of when approximately each day I would probably type the work such as anytime after 2:00 p.m. and before 11:00 p.m.  However, they do expect you to make your daily line commitment.

I told her to off this job to someone in India.

Her response was she had people glad to work for 6 cpl with ONLY 5 YRS EXPERIENCE.

She should be able to afford ONLY 9 CPL . You would think anyway.

lol
You will be told that you can work remote,
And, there are a number of excuses that will be given as to the reason why. Pay is not toooooo bad. Would not go there. There are better jobs out there. Best of luck to you.
I was told there are no more accounts I can work on
and am getting sporadic work. I LOVE this company too, and they pay for down time which is incredible, but the work comes trickling in so I cannot claim no work, but it is just enough to keep me going.
Talking to IRS about how ICs are told to work
I wanted to let you know about what happened when I tried to talk to the IRS a few years ago about a fraud that I knew was happening, had all the information. This pertained to a woman scamming section 8, food stamps, welfare money (living with a guy with a city job yet claiming no money). Her children came to live with me for 2 years. I took total care, housing, food, etc. with no money from her. I claimed the kids on my income tax for those 2 years and come to find out her boyfriend also claimed the children on his taxes (remember when at home they were on all kinds of welfare and he probably was claiming them then- this is against the law and called double dipping). I got information from a tax preparer at my home, not mine, wanting to know if filing and called the place, found out he had claimed them in the past and then I contacted IRS. Oh, I also got notice from IRS that I was one of 2 filers who had claimed the kids!  I had all the social security numbers, names, birthdates, all that I needed. This scamming on their end went on for several years and do you think anyone interested or would talk with me? Nah, nothing. No one contacted me or their parent. When I see the rah-rah about turning these companies in I am reminded of what I tried to do with just wasting my time in the long run.
Where I work we were told we HAD to get our lines in - sm
So right now many of us have been camping out at the computers fighting for every line we can get.  Not sure I am going to last much longer at this pace.
When I asked about less and less work, I was told
that no MDI work is being done by Transcend because they have no access to the MDI platforms / clients. It was suggested that the economy may be taking its toll.
How do you get to work for both. Spheris told me it was conflict for me to have another job.
Especially with a national company. They wouldn't even talk to me about why I should leave MQ for them as long as I worked for their competition. How did you swing both jobs. I know MQ doesn't have a problem with me taking another position but Spheris was anal about it.
What?? they have asked you to work the account but never told you how much your pay is??
Sounds strange to me.. They would make me nervous as that should be the first thing they discuss.. or at least that is what I would want to know right off before I wasted my time with them.
I work on one that does not need high speed but have been told sm
that there are very few like that.
I was told when they needed help and that is when they expected me to work
so it is possible she was told what days and times, as that is pretty much what they said to me. Then work was never available during that time slot and so I opted to move on.
I was hired for 3rd shift and was told there was plenty of work
i was given 4 accts and still don't make money - that is all i am saying
H. told me the work was going back in house for some of the doctors. nm

I don't work there, but someone told me they don't have sick/PTO time. Yuck. NM

I wasn't hired for 1 work type, but told them I like OPs so that is what I am assigned. When I r
out of ops, I usually stop unless we are out of TAT on other jobs because I do not want to take other people's work. I do not think I should get paid less for that.
Where I work I was told I had to get them in or be put back to PT status and lose benefits. nm

Well, when I purchased my computer tech support told me Vista would not work...sm
They said that it would work but it would cause a lot of problems because of the way the hot keys are setup on the Vista. They advised me against getting a computer with Vista. So it was very hard for me to find a computer that did not have Vista this year because everything had switched over. I bought a used one!!!! Just so I could avoid problems with my work.

I don't know if this helps or not. Just letting you know what I was told. Good luck!
but mgmt told me they outsourced some work to a small company at times.

There is no reason for me to lie about this.

I am NOT talking about offshoring, but the company whom they outsource to may offshore . . . I have no idea about that.  But straight from the horse's mouth, they have outsourced to a small MTSO before.

You can notice how the work dries up all of a sudden when they turn it over to the service and we have no work.

TT mgmt may not tell that they outsource today, but they definitely told me about 9 months ago when I asked when the work was low.  From the way the jobs disappear occasionally, I think it happens quite often.

I don't hesitate to ask. Have been told "yes", and have been told "no." Never been to

s
You are right, I told ek to do like ET...

Have they told you that you are going to

be a MEDICAL EDITOR?  It's semantics, like the "MLS" title for a transcriptionist.  Sounds really impressive to be called a "medical language specialist," but...HELLO...you're a TRANSCRIPTIONIST.

You are going to be nothing more than a custodian, cleaning up the junk that the "hookt on fonix" MACHINE REPLACING YOU has generated and for less money.  If the dictators are half decent, you might be able to fly through a report in minimal time, but if you have to sift through the GARBAGE, only to wind up transcribing most of the job yourself, you are definitely going to lose money.

Do you eat only what you are told? If not, try them...

Told me the same
Same bull came from Jennifer week to week.
THANK YOU! I'm usually told how I should RUN
and all kinds of upset stuff.

Thank you! I hope to someday!!!
What I was told
Here is what I was told when
I switched to DQS from Medrite.........

You actually were getting "free lines" on Medrite with the information that populated onto the (TES screen) actual report, for example, patient name, account#, MR#, dictators name, signing physician, address, etc. This accounted for about 6-8 lines per report. Needless to say, and I KNOW THIS FROM EXPERIENCE, a doctor could just hang up on that report and NOT SAY A SINGLE WORD and I would get paid those "free lines" because it was information that populated on the report.

With that being said, if you were typing 8-10 reports an hour, then multiply that by 6-8 for your "free lines" PER REPORT that would account for anywhere from 48 lines to 80 lines AN HOUR! Now, take that 48 to 80 lines per hour and multiply that by how many hours you work in a day. This is why and how you will see a decrease in your lines!

The problem is, is that with DQS, you ARE NOT PAID for the patient's name, account #, MR #, physician name, and so on. I believe this is where the misconception of DQS being a horrible platform and/or MQ screwing their MTs started.

All in all, I am able to type the same amount I was in Medrite per hour. The more you add to your word Expander and familiarize yourself with the platform, the better you will be.

Within a few weeks you will get used to it. I average 300 lines an hour and like DQS very much.

no but I was told that
people who were making a certain rate before DEP training were cut before the training. I heard this second hand from a girl in my class.
That's not what I was told when..sm
I went to work for them.  You must be management.
They should not have told you that. sm
There are very few people in this industry that make that much money, especially working for national companies.  Do you use a word Expander and do you use it at its fullest potential?  The most I ever made was 52K working for a hospital making 10cpl per 57 character line.  One other thing you might consider is trying to get your own accounts.  Where you may now make 7-10 cpl working with a national, you can make 15-17 cpl with your own account, provided you can handle the workload.  Unfortunately, they sometimes fail to tell you that in school.  Good luck!
No. Not that they told me. SM
They just told me about the training that I would be going through and kind of just sketched through it.  It seemed like they offered okay benefits, but the pay seemed fair.  I was just seeing if anyone actually took this position and could tell me more about it.  Radiology would be nice too.
Yep, was told would get
...another one, it would be added to my queue that day, but it never happened. This was three weeks ago. How many times should I ask before they get mad at me? It must be nice to be salaried and not have to worry about paying the bills.
they told me no, but when I got the sm
contract, there is a place on there that asks what hours you most likely will be working, so it is not set in stone. I understand that anybody likes to know something but I have talked to others who work for them and they have no problem. I am going to give them a 12 hour span when I could be in there. So far, they have answered my questions to my satisfaction. We will see when I get started. But, I am anticipating everything will be fine.
I was told that too.

I know who you are and you have told me

that you never checked to see if they were correct in their calculations when you were an MT - you just assumed they were right.  No wonder you've advanced to QA....LOL.  They love people like you.

Who told you not to?
nm
No, I'm not SURE...but it was what I was TOLD. That's way better than the 90% I was doing at a
x
What I was told.
I interviewed and with over 20 years experience, was offered 8 cpl for MT and was told that was their tops, but you can get a little extra for shift differential.  Also 4 CPL for editing reports.  This is not VR, but work transcribed overseas.  I don't feel comfortable proofing work for oursourcing  as I am patriotic and I feel the CPL is way too low for experienced help.  I am turning it down.
Was doing that, but QA told me not to do it.

So I assumed it was staying in the document when sent to client/QA.

I did not think that it would do that. But how would QA know that I had viewed in the larger type if it did not stay that way.

Thanks.

we were told

Were you told (sm)
by the Lead MT or the tech person that they were too busy?  Be persistent and hopefully that will help.
I was told my

testing was so exceptional that they would waive the requirement that I pay the interviewer's hourly rate for the time she spent with me. I was gobsmacked, I tell ya.
