Does anyone know of any of the Philadelphia, PA hospitals that hire their own MTs.
:
Anyone have any info on the big hospitals in Philadelphia and does MQ have all those accounts. Just
wondering if any of those hospitals are sharing their work with other companies other than MQ or does MQ have those accounts solely on their own.
You had better believe it. Working 12 years in a huge university and now offered 8 cpl. nm

I'm not sure who the other university hospitals use but

I never see anything on their sites or on CareerBuilder about hiring in-house MT's so apparently they're all using an outside service of some type.  Most hospitals I've worked in-house for use Medquist and another service at the same time (without Medquist's knowledge).

The only Phila. area hospital I've ever seen advertising for in-house MT's is Cooper in Camden, NJ (across the river from Philly).

I am doing a huge hospital system sm
and just ran out of work tonight! Can't believe it.
They are up for a HUGE account in Chicago. I work for one of the hospitals sm
and would be offered a position to work with them if it happens. I am very worried now. The last hospital I worked for went with Medquist and we all lost our jobs. They did offer us jobs but not on the hospital we worked for. I went to this other one and now this :(
A REALLY large system with several hospitals. nm

knowing the VA health system....
and what they did to me as a military widow and what the VA does to our service men and women,  I would NEVER work for a VA hospital/   Our military whom are in VA hospitals, are the ones who have gone through the Wellbutrin to stop smoking trials etc  -- you will have a patient who one week, his attending is 'Dr. Jones; he goes home and the next week his attending is this one -- also LOTS of ESLs and residents  -- the goverment as a GS position 10 years ago only paid $15k per year  -- hasnt gone up that much.  JMHO
Are you kidding? This is a health system, not a company, sm
and I bet it pays more than 8 cpl. You would be a fool not to look into this position. Jobs are hard to come by working directly for a facility these days.
Anyone know any NJ hospitals who hire MTs from home? nm

I'm a new hire for the Occ Health...
account too. I am looking forward to getting started with them, as I have heard so many good things. In the meantime, I'm enjoying this weekend, preparing my desk, computer, etc. getting ready to get set up, and taking some time for myself to relax and enjoy some downtime (hoping that we'll have PLENTY of work soon enough).

I would like to know about the health benefits (cost) for a single parent and one child. I wonder how much health bennies will be just to get an idea as to what to plan for.

I hope to meet up with the new hires on the Occ Health account so we can help each other out if stuck, etc.

I am so excited!!! Hope to meet you all real soon!

Anyone know of any small companies in Michigan or hospitals that hire MTs that you may be familiar
with the type of work.
I think this could only be done with a huge client base, or a huge number of say only

Landmark in Philadelphia
The company in Philadelphia lost many accounts in the spring and have not gained more accounts to make up for those losses. The bulk of their accounts are subcontracted. They are not full service accounts. They do not have enough work on most of their accounts. The work is sporadic, sometimes the work pool is empty for hours each day. The owners are previous MQ people. Pay is accurate and on time. The QA people and supervisors try to work with the MTs as best they can, but can't control the lack of work. They use various platforms, including Bayscribe and ExText.

What's the info on the other company also named Landmark?
Anyone working for Landmark in Philadelphia that can tell me about
the workload and how is that going with them.  Thanks!
It is not the hospitals on a short TAT it is what MQ wants to make the hospitals very happy with

them. I would assume the accounts are on 12, 24 or 48 TAT but wouldnt they love having their work back no sooner than it is dictated.

I live in the Philadelphia suburbs. The original poster sm
is probably from Virginia or there abouts. Mild winters are usually in the Virginia area as I get lots of snow and cold where I am.

The ocean is 1 hour away, the mountains 2 hours away, and everything is at our doorstep.

Good luck trying to find out exactly.

Anyone know anything about the University of
Wisconsin ad on mtjobs?  Anyone work for them now or in the past?  Just curious-might be interested in applying.  Thanks. You can email me privately if you like.
I know this University
Never worked for Diskwriter, but did work for UPMC (University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, used to be Presbyterian Medical Center) for several years. This is a large teaching institution with high ESLs. They were the first in the country to do heart transplants with Dr. Starzel and his group. That was when heart transplant was experimental.

If you have heavy experience with ESLs, you'll do fine.
Hahnemann University uses MQ, sm
Last I knew,

Temple University Health System uses MQ.

Thomas Jefferson Health System uses MQ.

Crozer Keystone Health System uses MQ.

Chester County Hospital uses MQ and a smaller service, don't know the name.

Most phyician practices in Delco use RX transcription out of Newtown Square, or ProType - Maureen I think is her name.

St. Christopher's, last I knew, was with MQ.

Did I forget any?

University of Texas -- Oh yea! n/m

In Pennsylvania...
Experienced medical Transcriptionist can expect $15 to $18 per hour working in a medical office in Pennsylvania.
Pennsylvania, sorry nm

Is this the one in Pennsylvania? nm

I wonder if it would be possible to find a university that would need an experienced MT to just do
OR reports.  Is this possible.
Pro-Type in Pennsylvania?
Has anyone worked for them? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.
Has anyone worked for D&L out of Pennsylvania?? sm

I see that they are hiring 50 MTs.  I just want to know a few things about them before I get involved.  What is their platform like, their payment habits, and is it hard to meet line count, etc.

Thanks in Advance

Yes, Preferred in Pennsylvania. nm

Protype in Pennsylvania
Looking for information regarding this company.  Pros and cons please.  E-mail me if you do not want to post here.  Thanks.
Is this the Landmark in Pennsylvania?

Landmark in Pennsylvania

You will be sorry if you stick around.  He will suddenly call you and tell you that he's switcing everyone from employee status to IC status, and he'll tell that it's a good thing for you.  Ha!  There go your benefits down the drain.  He'll offer you a tenth of a cent increase in pay if you don't quit.  He goes through MTs and QA specialists frequently because of this.

Landmark in Pennsylvania?
I work for them and I'm nowhere near Penn. That doesn't make sense.
all the more reason to go to an accredited college or university
and earning potential rather than waste time and money on some fly-by-night crappola that has no credibility.
Anyone here work inhouse at Stanford University? - sm

Or know someone who does?  If so, any comments, pro or con, about working there?  I'm moving to that area soon, and was wondering if they're hiring.

Anyone here for for University of Kansas Medical Center? Please let me know. Thanks.
I work at home for a national now and I'm wondering if KU outsources or does in-house and about their benefits. Not a newbie, have 11 years experience in acute care. Rock chalk!
Butler Transcription is Pennsylvania...
Anybody work for them or have worked for them in the past.  Are they still in business??  Just curious.  They have a son who went around vandalizing my neighborhood last night.  Wrote some nasty words on my neighbor's cars that will cost 4000 dollars to get removed.  I was wondering how his parent's company ever panned out?  And if they are still around.  Just curious.
Landmark in Pennsylvania, need opinions please.. sm

I have read very differing opinions on this company and would love to hear from MTs who are currently employed by them or who have experiences they would like to share.  Please feel free to email me privately.  I am considering applying.  Thank you very much!

Any info on Davis Transcription out of Pennsylvania? nm

nm

Anyone hear of Erie Transcription out of Pennsylvania?
If so, any info would be appreciated.
That is terrible. You know, those women have no idea how to handle all these big university accounts
that are moving up there. They are very very wrong about some of the things they do and it seems like they really dont know as much as they would like you to think they do. That is absolutely disgusting that they did that. I hope that MT reported them to anyone in New Jersey they could find. I would have taken that as far as I could have if I would have been her to the CEO. That is just horrendous. My goodness, why does MQ continue with them. I believe firmly if you make enough calls you will find someone that is willing to listen and take the info where it needs to go I believe that.
University of Iowa Med Center announced layoffs yesterday
I think the news report said they were getting rid of 130 people now, a total of 200 this year. Fortunately (their word, not mine), they're not going to have to make any cuts in people who have patient contact but in administrative areas (that'd be us). Truthfully, I'm not sure if they even still have in-house transcriptionists, but you know that if they do, they'll be the first to get their marching papers.
Me too. As soon as there is a little extra work they hire and hire and then noone has any. This
goes on all the time.  I get sick to death of it.  I think having 2 part time jobs is better so you have 2 jobs to count on.
One would think if 5K was so huge ...
One would not let it accumulate to that.  Only gamble with what you can afford to lose, and letting it get that far was a gamble.  Though, sorry, you only wanted to hear how horrible the MTSO is (which it is horrible) and everything through rose-colored glasses about your friend.
I know about TT's huge hem/onc
account but isn't it totally VR?  In fact I thought they had 2 big hem/onc accounts and both had gone to VR?  Am I wrong about that?
huge thank you from me, Have done it
and forwarded to all I know. Have already heard back from one senator, and I was the 49th person from Texas to sign that petition. Thanks again. Have you put it on the politics board?
Does KS only hire employees or do they hire ICs too? nm
x
Not small, not huge. When I was there it had 350+ MTs.
x
I think there are a huge number
who lie about their qualifications and experience. The company I contract with has hired MTs who claim to have 10 years experience. Their final product looks like they are recent graduates of IHA who failed high school English.
Because the accounts are huge
Yesterday was a holiday, so many docs took a long weekend. Transtech is not a company to jerk you around, if they promise work, you will have it.
There are HUGE variables
Formulas that MT companies give as average are usually based on average work that a MT is well versed in - which companies do not always make available to MTs then act surprised. Duh. Connections, software, familiarity, accents, account types, etc., etc. are huge variables for production and should be considered. Left on the same work for awhile I used to be capable of producing 2,000-2,500 lines, but that changes if my work is changed or if I'm put on a subspecialty I'm not familiar with. It's why companies that have people on a zillion accounts and are not rewarded for it have unhappy MTs. People making huge counts are usually people who are happily typing away at familiar work. Been there, not there now, and am miserable and burnt out.
