it is still worth a shot. I look at almost every job ad. I just like to see what's out there, but that doesn't mean I apply to them all, which I'm sure you know. Different strokes for different folks.
I have found though that IC jobs do not pay more than employee. I have also found that a lot of the IC jobs still require you to type on certain days or a certain amount of lines, which is not what I would consider IC, but who knows??? Maybe some like to be controlled.

In the past, I have applied to jobs on MTStars and received a lot of responses. These days, I just look to see what is out there. 
As far as IC positions are concerned, it is no problem when a company wants its ICs to commit to a certain number of lines. Here is the definition of IC from the IRS Web site:
Who is an Independent Contractor?
A general rule is that you, the payer, have the right to control or direct only the result of the work done by an independent contractor, and not the means and methods of accomplishing the result.
Example: Vera Elm, an electrician, submitted a job estimate to a housing complex for electrical work at $16 per hour for 400 hours. She is to receive $1,280 every 2 weeks for the next 10 weeks. This is not considered payment by the hour. Even if she works more or less than 400 hours to complete the work, Vera Elm will receive $6,400. She also performs additional electrical installations under contracts with other companies, that she obtained through advertisements. Vera is an independent contractor.
