Right on, sister! (Or brother.) I think it is also important for us all to remember the maxim that we deserve the kind of treatment we will accept. When I am hired IC and they try to put on on a schedule, I sweetly remind clients that my tax attorney has informed me that ICs do not have to adhere to schedules. That usually gets them off my back. I think a lot of these folks get away with these things because we let it, i.e., we enable their bad behavior. I have one mail client (MDI, wonderful) and some side-work as well. I am just really firm about the IC thing with the clients who need reminders.
