Hello,
I currently work for them and I really like my account. I am able to make a good line rate and the people are very nice. There are some problems, but I have not found a national yet that does not have some sort of problems with them. If you would like more info I would be happy to answer your questions.
By the way, feel free to email me

also as I have a direct connection to the hiring in my company and I would be happy to pass the resumes on to the right people.  I know we have openings in acute care including emergency room reports.  I don't think we have anything else right now but wouldn't hurt to send the resumes to the link above.  If we don't have anything, I am sure they will contact you when they do.

Feel free to post your questions here. The only criteria we ask that posters follow

is not to post other people's personal names, email addresses, telephone numbers, and no client specific information.  Regarding crass posts by others, this is an anonymous board, which means anyone can post without identifying themselves.  We do moderate the site for content, but I would advise ignoring the trolls and negative information and zone in on the positive.

Thanks,

If you want to email me, please feel free. I am headed to the beach today through tomorrow :)
I live literally 1 block from the shore and have only been twice this year due to baseball with kids, my mother being in town for 3 weeks who does not like the beach and wants to be entertained all day long and a bout with the flu. I am going to take the rest of today and tomorrow and bake like a french fry!
Does your company start with a T... If so, I feel your pain and it does no good to complain. No one
cares. Tell me how you go from over 200 jobs in a queue to nothing in a few hours. Hmmmm. I smell offsourcing. Not happy. I just got a second job and thank goodness. It will save me when there is no work which is too often for my liking.
Very thorough and fair critique....
...I used to work there and had to sign a waiver that I would not badmouth the company on MT boards (which I believe is still the procedure for the UST employees). However, I do believe that it is the same for any company - the experience is not the same for any two employees, and if this sounds like your cup of tea, so to speak, go ahead and apply! (I had some excellent time there, although I and many MTs there had a different impression of the senior owner .... and I will say that much ;( ).
I don't know why I am walking you
through this.  The info is there, plain as day on page 1.  Here is 1 post from 2008:  http://forum.mtstars.com/company/v/1/60540.html and yet another http://forum.mtstars.com/company/v/1/64665.html

I am walking right along with you. I cannot and I will not be part of the selling out of the American worker. My father spent his life serving our country and I am a proud American. I live in a state where unemployment is stratospheric. (And where there are tons of MTs who are hungry for work.) And we are sending work to the other side of the world? Um, no. I'm outta here, too. For me, it is a question of taking a principled, moral stand. Wasn't it Cuba Gooding who said Show me the money? Well, apparently money will buy anything.
Sounds like you are walking on egg shells or at
Why worry about them, when you need to worry about you, and the utilities and rent to pay. We MTs are really brainwashed. I used to be that way. I worked for a highly regarded company and barely had a check at Christmas. I complained and complained until I finally realized that I was walking on egg shells trying to do anything I could to please them to get work, and yet, they had no problem overhiring. Come to find out the bill collectors did not care I needed to walk on eggshells. Especially my car loan. They sounded like they'd break my legs when I got 2 mos behind. So, I looked at the big picture and realized it is not the company which is shorting me that I need to be good to, it is me... the person who is providing the labor I need to be good to... how to do that? Boost self-esteem, and do research to find a company which appreciates my skills and gives me full-time work and benefits (if needed) to keep the bill collectors from calling. Why do bill collectors think we are irresponsible? Well, we are if we sit by waiting for work to show up or not, working hard for a boss who openly states we won't have work or who does not provide as promised in the interview. I say, talk to the hand, I walk on solid ground, not egg shells, and I pay my bills on time and have a goal to put money toward savings and someday a vacation. Now that's the kind of company you want to work for, so you can realize those kinds of goals. Not the kind of company where you hope you can get by for the next month, the next week, the next day, on a box of mac and cheese not affording the milk. Believe me, I know where you are, BTDT... and trust me... do your research, work for a truly reputable company and pay those bills, rather than worrying about dysfunctional bosses. Good luck to you!
Many have paid their dues and see what they get? AAMT has MTs walking the plank
:P
Can lead a horse to water....D&L

I can understand you're still working for D&L because I too have never been one to jump on the bandwagon.  It is my own mistake not to have abandoned ship on D&L back when all the signs were saying GET OUT NOW!!!  I remained loyal to this company and worked my butt off for them.

In the end, what did it get me and everyone who stuck around doing what they could?  Nothing except a string of financial crises, ignored calls & emails, empty promises as they dumped their financial dilemma on me and the rest of us.

D&L still owes me for work done from June-July.  They haven't yet paid their original set of MTs that worked the hospital account.  They lied to us for weeks and suddenly owned up to the situation with the Oh Well email filled with promises of making good on pay.

....We are told that the payment will be honored when represented our bank has delayed availability of those funds until Thursday 07/19/07. Once those funds are made available we will immediately issue checks to anyone effected by this situation. We apologize for this unfortunate event and will expedite payments once funds are made available......

Here it is September 9th already, still no check.

Sorry to say, but what makes you think they have any intention of making good on YOUR check(s)?

Seriously, it's in your own best interest to find other employment quickly and not waste another minute working for free or you too shall suffer a financial crisis that will take months to recover from.

Good luck in your job hunt.

To quote Donna directly......It is what it is

Rumors don't hold water with me.

GIVE FACTS or keep quiet. You keep trying to down TT everytime someone posts a question. I have asked you time and time again for the FACTS which you have not provided.

You heard....i.e., you DON'T know. You  ASSUME. Why don't you go right to management and confront them and THEN AND ONLY THEN, come back to this board and post the TRUTH. Until then, stop trying to spread RUMORS!!!

I understand not wanting to get yourself in hot water,
but if you are working for a company like this and someone else reports them, there could be consequences for you for knowingly filing taxes as an IC when you should be classified as an employee, especially if you are taking deductions such as a home office. If you don't want trouble, don't work for these types of companies. I agree with you though, I am glad to be getting out of MT too.

Free sure. There are free on-line fax

services, in fact I used one last week.   Most do have limits on how often you can use and how many pages though.  You obviously would have to scan pages into a document, but maybe she doesn't have a scanner either.

I feel the same way. I'm irritable because I feel
and that my years of experience overall, and past few years of busting my @$$ for them hasn't been appreciated or noticed in the least.

We're all just cogs in the wheel.
Yes, it is free.
They told me that I would get a discount with steadman's and Dell, but they never said that I would have to buy anything. The only thing they said was that I would have to provide the home type of equipment (i.e. Internet, computer, foot pedal, and software for listening to the files. I received the same things you mentioned above too.
The only one I know of that is free
is Emmaus' MedCount . . . they have a link to this site and advertise here, and the company offers other software programs for sale that are designed for transcriptionists, but the line counting software is downloadable and free.
Here's the web site: http://www.mpword.com

I was unable to use the free program above . . . I had used it before, but on the computer I bought last summer, for some reason it would not work, so I purchased The Abacus.

I have seen a couple of times people posting about The Abacus being a free program, but I had to pay for it. Seems like they may offer a free trial for a certain period of time or number of usages, with limitations during the trial, but then if you do want the program you pay and they give you a code that enables the full program.

The web address for The Abacus is: http://www.theabacus.biz/theAbacus.htm

Buh bye OSI!!!

I will miss all the good MT's there but at least I will be getting paid for holidays from now on.  Maybe, just maybe the good MT's still there will be right behind me.  Or maybe not, and you can enjoy your little mug of candy for Christmas.

Yes!  Yes!    Yes!  Yes!

I think most use it because it is free and can
be used w/o a pedal if you had to.  I have used their tests with other software though.  I've never had trouble downloading files, you can right click and save to a file.   I think they companies have always provided instructions on how to save the files too.

Is Turbo Tax free? (sm)
WebMedX has a list of required reference books you have to get.  I'm sure I spent at least $100-$150 on them.  I ordered them from amazon, so the receipt should be easy enough to get.

The debate is whether to do my taxes myself or go to H&R Block.  The last couple years I had someone else do my taxes 'cuz I had a part-time IC job and deducted my phone line charges.

Hell, I could probably deduct my DSL bill this year, I suppose...
the free one does not count
,
Testing isn't free either

It costs us 10.00 for every applicant we test online.  Out of 50 people I might refer who look promising, about 80% will get to the actual transcription part and say I couldn't finish, it wouldn't let me when the actual qualified people have no trouble whatsoever.

How many of you get the emails with the cover information not spellchecked?  I get them that say I am very qulity conscience.  I got one from a lady who worked in the surgical stockroom of a hospital and was furious when I told her that didn't qualify her to be an MT.  I had a welder who wanted something different,  several from people claiming to be med students or doctors, one dentist in an extremely remote part of Alaska.   I get stories of I have children and I'm about to be evicted and I quit my job.   I get my hospital went bankrupt and closed (yet the phone number still works).   I can advertise for ops and get people asking for an ER account.  I needed an Editor for a particular work type and had a lady apply who said she had 18 years experience so I let her try to edit a document.  I would have had to hire somebody else just to edit her work!!!  It really makes it hard for the experienced people because it's like we've heard it ALL...so you don't know who is good and who isn't!!!

Do you know what the right of free speech is?
It does not apply to private company matters, etc.

Geez.

Well, when you're free of them, please
.
Where can you get this free trial? nm

working for free?....don't think so. sm
Look, it all comes down to getting paid. Doing their work for free isn't doig yourself a favor, just them. What did the contract agreement say that you signed? I would fax that portion back over to her and give her a date you expect to be paid. Losing invoices? More than one? Come on girl, this is a big red flag to me.
Don't you work for free?
I'd be nice to you too if you were making me all that money for a little info that you should have got in school.
it's friday free-for-all! Hoo-ha! nm

guildftp is free I think sm
Someone had posted before some free FTP sites.  Not all cost per month.  Some are a mere $6.00 per month.  It is to keep documents safe, and you'll need a password.  You can also store voice files there.  HIPPO is $39.00 per year I think and easy to use.
Sounds like they might be trying to get free
work done.  Ten pages is excessive and I wouldn't do it.
