brought back to the medical records department at the hospital. I do not agree, though, with contracting directly with MTs/ICs. I think the hospital should hire MTs as employees that work directly under a HIM manager. I also believe that all MTs should have access to the EMR of the patient they are transcribing for. I feel this would prevent numerous errors and prevent delay in TAT tremendously. I also think MTs should be prepared to work in-house again if this were all to happen. But I am all for cutting out MTSOs. I think they (and working from home) have contributed to low wages and bad quality.
