When I worked in house I switched to coding.  This was around 1996.  I'm not sure how it's done now, but back then I had to actually read the charts and enter the information into the computer.  It absolutely destroyed my vision. It went from 20/10 to me becoming nearsighted.  I did inpatient coding but the chain of hospitals I worked for wanted us to pad up the diagnoses to bring in more money and I refused, so I went back to MT.  I actually made more as an MT.  The problem with the coding classes now is just like with an MT course, nobody will hire you out of school.  My husband took the class as he used to do coding in the military and he aced the course and loved it, but nobody would even give him a chance.
