There is no hard and fast rule that says you HAVE to pay your estimated taxes quarterly.  I pay them with every paycheck simply so I don't have the $$ hanging around in my checking or savings account.  I have been really bad in the past about spending it when I shouldn't and then I end up in a world of hurt at the end of the year.  The only thing the IRS will ding you for is if you wait until the end of the year to pay all of your taxes at once.  Then you'll get a penalty for not paying throughout the year.
