backlogs

It's like any other company as far as slow times and busy times, generally speaking. Some accounts seem overstaffed and are chronically slow, some fluctuate back and forth depending on what the hospital wants to send for overflow that day, and some are steady with work. A recruiter would hire you on for a specific account, but you could get backups later if you want/need them. I'd ask what the average backlog is at any given time during the day and if work comes in steady or in batches. I have a backup that comes in in batches from the hospital and I'm not a big fan of how that works. Fortunately, I don't think most of their accounts are like that.

I think they get tired of pulling teeth when backlogs slip. NM
