I declined the job. I went by what other MTs had said. I figure that many people can't be wrong about VR.  Someone else on this thread said the dictators were terrible on University of Texas account. I appreciate being warned.

That you so much for the advice.  I sent an e-mail today, was contact and will be starting with MDI soon!!  I am so excited!!  Thanks again!!
Thank you, BlackSwan...
I just emailed OP and advised she check into MDI.

I suppose we're the MDI cheerleaders, but I honestly have nothing but praise for this company and their entire staff with whom I've dealt.

I'd advise any qualified MT who is unhappy in their present position to contact MDI.
Blackswan, sorry nobody has responded.
I have no idea about Orion, though I know there were recent posts here about them. Oracle has always had a negative response. I know I had signed on with them years ago and was so excited and thrilled. Then everything went wrong tech and set up wise. I remember I had to buy PC anywhere, something like that, and then never got my training, dates set and broken by them, etc. That seems to be the norm. Landmark - very low work volumes, and don't pay for spaces. MTs come and go regularly, as accounts seem to come and go regularly. I have always heard fine for PT, but not for full time.
I agree with blackswan (nm)

Ditto everything blackswan said --

But just to clarify -- there is no schedule.  You have 24 hours to get your committed lines in, no set hours (by you or your super).

Blackswan, can I e-mail you about MDI? nm

question for blackswan
I was wondering how long you have worked for MDI? I recognize your name from prior posts. You seem to like the company, right? What exactly is different working as an IC, just taxes? Do you make a good income with this company? Full time or part time? Is there always plenty of work (mostly anyway)? TIA. You always seem to write good posts and I appreciate your input!
Blackswan - perhaps you should read it again
After investigating a few things, this is not the first time that LM has not paid their employees and had complaints filed against them. It is easy to have money owed to you and not work somewhere because you quit (as I did) when you find that you need to get paid for the work you do and cut your losses where they are.

For your information, I have handled the situation legally. I have filed complaints with the labor board, the state I live in, the state they are in and I filed the papers to sue them. My final step was to make sure that hard working, decent people on this board looking for work with companies they know nothing about are made aware that there is a company out there that hires people solely to bring down their backlog and then not pay them. That these are people who had no qualms in saying I just didn't feel like it when asked why they didn't submit your information to the payroll company so you would get paid.

I've been in this field for 30+ years and I don't post randomly or maliciously. I have emails, paperwork and phone calls to back up everything I say which is why when I go to court I will win. Now if you have had no problem with them, then I say count your blessings and be happy. If you have children, are a single parent, work for your pay and are looking for a good company, then stay away from them. As I said from the get go - this is just fair warning.
blackswan -- can you elaborate

a little more on true IC -- Do you have to work a set number of lines per day that you set and who sets the days you work?

Just curious because I'm looking for a second job that is true IC to fill in the gaps when my primary job is slow.

Also, can you give me an idea of what their pay range is?  I don't want to waste my time applying for 7 cpl.

Blackswan, I had to re-read my post. Guess who
You got it, Medquist! Isn't that unbelievably coincidental that many of us went down the tubes while working so hard for them? Wonder how many of us there are, who have gone bankrupt while gainfully employed with the Squid?
