It looks like they may use a few different platforms. But it looks to me like the position they are looking to fill would be an FTP site, and then probably transcribe in Word. 
I too check old reports...
for the same reasons you gave. What's the big deal and just how is it a HIPAA violation?

But don't want to spend my whole Sunday back and forth checking for work to get my hours in.
May I ask, how long have you been with them? Do they overhire to train for new accounts or are these new people just added on to keep TAT in check?
Agreed, check your state's web site
like having at least 3 employees in the residing state, or earnings over XX dollars unless it is in such-and-such industry. Most states just require one employee with a very low income. I had to get an employer to read the web site and ask their tax accountant before they started cutting taxes.

No news is good news for me. I check my audited reports all the time
If I need to talk with one of them, I call or IM them. But, no, I have learned that if I am doing a good job, they leave you alone to do your work. They are not in any way a company that micromanages as long as you do what you are supposed to. If you give them a reason to think you are not doing what you are supposed to be doing, they will keep an eye out on your work, etc.

Typing ER reports and radiologogy reports
are completely different with regards to pay. For typing regular reports, that is a very fine line rate. For typing radiology reports, it would be horrid.

Credit check, FBI check was not for
me. The notion that if you don't pay your bills means your not a responsible person really kills me!!! Lots of people have $$ problems, especially if you are an MT, LOL!!! They are the only company I know that does these checks. Seems a little anal to me!!!

I think many Spheris employees choose not to frequent/post on online forums, since there are guidelines regarding such discussions and it's easier just to avoid the issue.

I have not complete any formal training with a medical transcription school, but have 15 years experience in acute care. Their web site says they prefer transcriptionists who have completed formal training with an accredited school. I really want to apply, but since I haven't gone to school, I am hesitant. Anyone know if they will hire based on experience, without having completed training?

I am thinking about making a website/blog specifically for Pro-American MTs, educating the general public what's truly at risk here. For starters, I am personally going to boycott all doctors who support/send their dictation other countries!!!
I want to make the general public aware and get their input on supporting such a boycott. Hopefully, they'll join in on the boycott too.
My money is going to the doctor who supports American jobs. I'll put my trust in those physicians, thank you. As far as the docs who send their dictation to MTSOs who send our jobs overseas, I hope they all move overseas and live happily ever after! You don't deserve to live in America!

the AHDI, formerly AAMT, and they have definitions for three levels of MTs. Whether or not you agree with their organization and what they stand for, I think that theirs are the best definitions I've seen for job descriptions in this field.

I'm beginning to think it should be renamed MTWars. That's about all that ever goes on here anymore. I wouldn't even presume that I could get a decent answer to a question on here because it seems like every question starts some sort of ridiculous childish I'm right, you're wrong debate that goes on forever and ever . . . . Usually they have a website you download the software from. Then you install it onto you computer. Or some companies use FTP sites. Works the same way. HTH
