companies change all the time - her info is old, she said. (sm/small message)

Posted By: anon on 2008-06-28
In Reply to: if you already know that much, are you really considering going to work for them? nm - Amanda

A turnover in managers,QA, leads, even recruiters can make an impact and happens all the time, so you never know; old info - grain of salt. newer info more reliable and needs to be found while considering.

Up to date info on Zylomed? People change and companies do to...(sm)
I need current information from MT's that do or have worked for Zylomed (Naples, FL) in the last year. If you've had a bad experience with them 2 or 3 years ago, don't bother writing. People change and companies do too! I need the real skinny on what's happening now. I would really appreciate hearing from current employees! Thanks so much!

oh by the way.....*S* small message...sm

did YOU write the acronym book?  HAHAHAHAHAHA -

Well, I've online over 10 years and on boards/forums and SM means small message versus NM meaning no message versus LM meaning long message.

To each his or her own *S*  It's not etched in blood.....*S*  Hope you have a better 2006.  *S*

Keep both for while (small message)
more pay these days usually means slow platform or a lot of ESLs. but you don't know how the new position is yet.

Also - you almost need two as a given these days, the way work flow is. but you can't possibly know the work flow yet.

You need to work them both for a while before you can made an educated decision on what works for you, with you, and around your needs.

it does not have to match the email address you sign up with. I'm thinking suits could get on and you'd never know it.
TransTech and Medware, are these companies considered large, medium-sized or small companies? (sm)
TIA
Small companies
Please list the names of some small companies. I need to get out of a big national but don't know where to turn. Thanx.
Small companies not for me

I have worked for both and I think that small companies are very, very particular. Not that that is a bad thing, but  ZERO room for error (everyone knows perfection is impossible 100% of the time).  So if you can QA at 100% every single time with a national, a small company would be perfect for you.  In all of my experience my lowest QA score was a 99.2 with nationals.  Small company just made me feel extremely inadequate.  That is one thing about communication with a small company, you can start feeling attacked for very (and I mean very) minor things.

HTH.

Anyone give out some names of small good companies?
small companies
Sorry about being so vague. I'm looking for smaller national companies - probably 100-200 MTs (?)
Best of the big and small companies?

Are there companies out there that people really enjoy working for any more?

Look at small companies
When I changed companies last summer, I applied only to companies that had no VR, as that was why I was leaving my current company. I found quite a few by researching this board, and of course they tended to be smaller companies. They are out there. I would just review the info on this board and make a list.
The big companies and the small MTSOs are
what I avoid. Give me a medium sized company any day. The big companies treat you like a number. It's nothing but corporate B.S. The little MTSOs are always stressing out and you're the only person they have to work for them. Both want you available 24/7 and to sit there doing nothing if there's no work or the system is down.
Small national companies
I'm trying to find a new company and it is way more involved than I thought.  Earlier I asked about larger companies.  What are some of the smaller companies that people work for, say not more than 200 MTs??  Thanks for your replies!!
In general, small companies
I just left one of the big companies because I won't do ASR because of the decreased pay. Smaller companies are usually straight transcription only, and I am now with one of those. There are quite a few out there.
I think it's mostly very small companies that use ftp/Word anymore

No PTO for part-time. Not sure if you can work part-time or not since recent rule change. sm
You do pay a deposit for their equipment.
or the small ones do not draw attention. It seems to be the bigger companies. sm
They are the ones mentioned the most, at least the ones that are growing.
Any small companies in Michigan that are nice to work for. nm

Ever notice how small & medium-sized MT companies - sm

are going the way of the dodo (and family farms), only to be replaced by huge, corporate McTranscription companies?  The Wal-Martization of medical transcription is a step backwards for discreet, high-quality medical records.

I'm thinking............Time to change careers.
Why do people struggle so hard until they are so miserable that they live, sleep, and breath misery. You are right though about struggling, it's never going to change so I am taking classes to get my coding degree. I am choosing NOT to be miserable anymore.
Any info on Transcript USA? I need a change, SM
did a search but really didnt find much. TIA
You are carrying a grudge for two years? Companies change. I have
had only good experiences with them.
12/cpl, hsi, no travel time, no paper/products. Small town.

You fill out a time sheet. If you need to make a change sm
to your schedule, you just email them.  They seem pretty flexible about everything.

Hope this helps.

Time change is earlier this year so computer
probably will not ask you to change now, may ask you  at the usual time.
EX-MQer maybe its time to make a change in your name and get on with your life
Have a wonderful evening
Is Keystrokes a big company or small? I am thinking of applying. Time to leave the Q. nm
The sad thing is that I do not even think they would notice if I left. I am a high producer but not very vocal and they seem to have forgotten about me :(
When is an SE allowed to change to employee (full-time) status?

Is it 11/01/2005 ?????

Thanks so much for informing us who have not received the packet as of yet.

Awesome small company! Paid on time every 2 weeks. Plenty of work!
Owner is great. I would recommend this company to anyone who wanted to be paid what they are worth and paid on time!
Yes I thought it sounded nice. Just hard to change but it is time. Always a little bit of anxiety
about another company and leaving what you know and sort of starting over but sometimes it is time. You know, the fat lady sang.
Nope, more like a matter of time before we're all working for chump change.

Your puter should ask you Sun. morning about making the time change. Just follow the 'custom'

Message to all companies

Thank you for taking the time to read this.  There is a new MT below, Christina, (might be on page 2 by now) who needs an online externship to complete her course in medical transcription.  I know a lot of the companies read this board, so would one of you please step up and do a wonderful thing by responding to Christina with an externship?  I know what it's like to be new, and I am so appreciative of the facility that stepped up to the plate for me almost 12 years ago with just a certificate of completion in my hands and no experience.

I don't know Christina, but my heart goes out to her, my reason for posting this.

Have a wonderful day!  I'm praying for you Christina.  This is a wonderful, challenging career to get into with big demand.  Let us know how you make out.

I will bet if all these companies had message board that sm
you would still see the same things as on the MQ board. Same crap goes on everywhere.
See post above--message to all companies (nm)

sounds like mgmt from 1 of the companies in message to me.

see message for info
I have been here for several years.  Recent change in software - which is not MT friendly AT ALL, can't even get the programs to do stuff the old one did and can't check our line counts throughout the day yet.  Supervisors are great though, flexible.  Pay is average to other companies.  Communication is not very good between the different departments and sometimes get different answers from different QA people.  Overall, they seem about the same as other companies I've worked for in the past - they all have their issues.  Pay is on time, direct deposit, and accurate.  I have heard that the insurance is very reasonable.  I would give them a try but not quit MQ until you know its a good fit - they are not for everyone.
Thanks for the info! Just got message
that C-phone coming tomorrow, so hopefully will be starting soon, and have worked for a horrible company previously so looking forward to a place to call home.
Any companies out there where you do not have to fill in a time sheet or on a time clock?
I would like to do my lines and be done, and still get my benefits.  Any companies out there that go by line production rather than hours to qualify for bennies?
